      +MimiOnliine Okay, you said you are from the UK, please explain. You were born in Ghana, but grew up in the UK watching Eastenders & Victor Meldrew. HOw many years in each, if that's not too private. *If you make a long video, please change your locations with interesting back grounds, such as people walking/driving about. Woman power is fine, but whites will really stand out. Or even white men alone at night, are they safe from crime or holdups/robbery? Lastly, you are a great storyteller with a great smile!

    So two things.
    Is giving someone hug with your left hand sorta disrespectful and or taboo?
    Annnd what's the usual cost to get your hair twisted?

    • @MimiOnliine
      @MimiOnliine  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, i dont think hugging someone that way is disrespectful lol, i would presume the person you hug is someone you're close to, they're likely not to get offended by that lol. And there are soo many hairdressers in Ghana and shops too, you're likely to find somewhere. Being s foreigner it's easy for someone to inflate the price so make sure ahead of time you tell them you have very limited budget. :)

    Hey miryam. why is it bad to "cross" a person in Ghana? for example, when someone is lying on the ground and i step over them. Why the people don't like this?

    • @MimiOnliine
      @MimiOnliine  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, Logically, i don't think people would like or enjoy people stepping over them, isnt?

    • @mellirichter4922
      @mellirichter4922 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +MimiOnliine yes of course, but Ghana people get very very angry when you are about to do this, even if they trust you and know you won't hurt them anyway. This guy(from Ghana) said it is bad to do this in Ghana but couldn't explain. Why is it bad?

    • @kemararobinson2161
      @kemararobinson2161 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      because its rude. a person is not a part of the sidewalk, or a mound of dirt. you acknowledge their humanity by walking around not over them.

      It's all about juju but since Ghanaians are mostly Christian they say they don't know why these superstitious behaviors are.

      Hi you can go to the Mall and purchase what they call 'surfline Mifi' it's a wireless and portable wifi device and you can control what you use by buying the amount of Gigabites you want. It's really good and it lasted me through out my whole journey; which was 6 weeks 😊

    I have often thought I might like to visit or may be even live in an African country. Watching this video makes me apprehensive. Seems to be a very rigid culture especially for some one coming from the United States, where we are more laid back, especially in California. The thing about the left hand is weird since it is a necessary part of the body. Why should your left hand be considered evil? They even have a problem with umbrella's. In my youth I lived in Asia and Europe but the culture didn't seem as rigid as what this video of Ghana portrays. It must be a nightmare driving there with all the horns blowing. The roads seem to be laid out very well so why is it necessary to ride on your car horn? I suppose cultural differences is why everyone should stay in their own culture. Just viewing this video hurts my feelings. I don't need to go there and experience it. How did W.E.B. Du Bois adjust to such a culture? Thanks for the information. Anyone planning to visit Ghana really need this heads-up. That's a good way to undermine tourism.

    • @MimiOnliine
      @MimiOnliine  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Octavia May Hm, that's not what i tried to portray through this video, and sorry if you understood it this way. And to be honest, because this is a Ghanaian channel i try to be as specific as i can, but personally as a traveller myself, i never let a culture stop me from doing anything, in fact i like going beyond the conventions and not restrict myself as long as it doesn't purposely offend. But i love learning about another culture, may be cos of my inquisitive nature. I think the purpose of this video may also be to answer some of the many questions i received even prior to this video by those who were apprehensive, this vid may put some more at ease knowing some of the things they were worried about, it's not relevant after all.
      If you are thinking of going to Ghana, just be yourself and go,n while still being respectful, and what i mentioned about left hand etc, if you listened well to the PART 1 i did say it's not such a big deal,and not a law.
      Thanks for watching :)

      +Octavia May I must disagree with your comments on Ghana. Horn blowing is common in many parts of the world. I'd love to do more of it in Delaware or when I used to live in San Diego for all the dummies on the road. Of course no umbrellas makes no sense, but there are other choices to keep dry. Did you select another country to visit or live in? If so, which one and why? (thanks for sharing your thoughts/feelings)

    • @LuckyGuu
      @LuckyGuu 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +MimiOnliine As you can see, I disagree with Octavia May regarding your video, which I found very useful. In my life I have learned that I often don't have to like something, but I just have to deal with it to get along. I hope you will visit an indoor food "supermarket" when you get a chance and make a video! What about eBay in Ghana, are people making extra money doing that?
