The BOSS SD-1 is literally an Ibanez Tube Screamer but uses different clipping diodes. Think of your guitar as have a root tone on any given note. The harmonics you can easily hear even clean are even order, the pretty ones. A Tube Screamer exaggerates those. The Boss exaggerates all the harmonics both the even and the much quieter odd order nasty ones. A tube amp does this too. It is why the Tube Screamer is good for boosting but the although the Boss can boost too can also act as a Crunch channel going into a clean amp.
Only one. When you build your pedalboard, invest in a Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2. It's an isolated power supply, unlike a OneSpot. It powers 9 pedals at once with their own individual power, much like using a 9v in each pedal. It will result in much less noise.
If you don`t want to sell a kidney for a Tubescreamer, go for it. My best friend for years, makes immediate cut-through-the-mix with analogue and digital amps alike. Recently tried SD-1 into DS-1 into IR -loader and still got good results.
Do you want a more spicy tube screamer thats never going to break?
This is your pedal!
PS: it also cleans up HM2 clones well!
Absolutely! Mayhem is a good example of this.
SD1+HM2 was a combination used by Dave Gilmour in the early 80s!
Solid demo. It really shows the range of this pedal. I've been using SD-1's since 1985. Great pedals.

Had my mind set on a BD-2 but now contemplate the SD-1 instead. Nice bluesy and rock sound.
Great overdrive, makes other pedals or amps more extreme! 👍
Awesome as always Dome! Any chance you could take us through your Nightbearer signal chain?!
I already did. At least for live sound!
@@DomeNightbearer ah cheers! I'll check it out!
Imho SD-1 is better than a Tube Screamer for pushing a Marshall.
It's awesome on bass.
Nice video, Dome! Do you think the price increase for the Waza version is worth it, or would it be better to get a second hand original?
Haven't tried out the waza version, but for me it's a no brainer to get the original used!
5.) You blast it with a dimed HM-2
Play around with that, can give your chainsaw some really nice options
well... that's something you should already know, so I didn't include it 🤣
I didn't understood something, I need both the power supply and battery
Or can I use only one of em?

All settings in front of the amp? The loop sounded like ass
