I received this pedal as a birthday gift for my 15th birthday…turning 30 next month. I am so grateful that I still have this pedal, even though it is beat to heck, it sounds so much like exactly what I’m going for.
EMG 81 > Metal Core > 5150 Normal Gain input clean > Mesa OS Rectifier 4x12 Straight > SM57. This is the best distortion pedal I've tried. It makes me sad that it crushes all my 100 watt tube amps. Using only the EQ controls on the amp I can get a mix ready, professional production quality tone without hiring Andy Sneap.
Baby's first distortion, really generic but it's hard to make it sound bad for it's application, I much prefer the Metal Zone for the Mid and Mid Freq controls, adds much more flavour.
Nice honest review. I'm thinking about getting the ML2 to add to my boss collection, this will sound nice with the PW2 😁🤘 awesome review again. Keep rocking man 😎👍
I recently got one of these for $45. I figured why not. It’s ended up being my main distortion. The key for me was lowering the bass since it’s so punchy, but you can actually get a really nice and smooth distortion out of it (granted it only does high gain!).
I'd really like when you analyze the circuits in these videos. I find it interesting for pedals I don't own but am curious about. It's nice to just watch your videos as opposed to finding a schematic, drawing it out and simulating it myself. Nice review!
true THE X-MEN will always be that one main reason of why i will always care for MARVEL X-MEN was and it will always be my personal dearest band of super Heroes of all times glad to find fans like you who also are into Metal music i was playing a Doom metal version of the 90s X-Opening theme like 3 days ago

I sadly could never get into boss pedals but used the boss kitana for awhile. It's 3rd style to every in the digital install it came in has a chirpy sound which made me laugh green works though. Oh and I got that Zombie pedal but it's a little choppy is that a volt/ battery issue or is that it's original design of sound for the pedal.
Hey Dome, i have a Boss Metal core since a few days, but i don't know if mine is faulty because it is noisy with little gain, even using a noise gate. What can i do? My solution for now is using gain at zero, and combining with an overdrive/booster and it works very good with some time of tweaking
Great review sir. Can we connect ml-2 with mt-2 like how you have connected the ml-2 with super overdrive pedal ? Same way do a video of connecting mt-2 with a ts-9 tube screamer and also a video of ml-2 connected with mt-2. Thanks sir btw, great playing and review 😊🔥👍🤘🤘
Yeah, should be no problem, just keep the gain on the first pedal low. Unfortunately I have sold the ML2 a while ago because I don't like its sound this much, so no future videos with it 😬
Definitely not something I would use, I think the metal zone is a little bit better with its 4 band EQ and applications. Plus there's also the super underrated DS1X
@@DomeNightbearer I don't know if you've seen this but Ola made a video on both and the DS1X is straight filth. th-cam.com/video/ZNAkoc1tjoQ/w-d-xo.html

funny comment - I hated thsi when I got it at 15 - now I love it for a specific metal sound im going for at 30 lol
As usual clear information, no wasted time and great demonstration of what it's all about !! Love this channel !!
I would love to see this vs the Boss Power Stack, they both seem like under-rated distortions I haven't heard much about!
It's great how you have so many good visuals with the review. Very helpful.

I think that's a really good summary of the pros and cons of this pedal!
I love ur detailed videos where u go in depth and compare with similiar pedals....but i would also enjoy short ones for the boutique pedals that u own

I was interested in the range of the pedal. Please put the knobs on 12 and after that tweek them. Also want to see the mid range scoop
It should be great with Roland JC Amps to switch between distorted and clean sound.

I`d like to get that one day.

I put a Klon clone after it... Less harsh. It's like you're putting it in a dirty amp

how do you connect the gate? Maybe put it after the pedal!
@@DomeNightbearer the gate is in a Line6 POD HD Desktop. POD
I was trying preamps, and it seems some preamps makes the metal core more noisy, in others it is acceptably quiet
@@Dr.Garlic. Thank you very much!
Which clean amp, speaker, mic and pickup was used?

Metal Core or Metal Zone for Metallica thrash?
Sounds epic

Oh, I have no doubt. But it's pricey as well 😅
For me sort of a nothing pedal which has no real character of its own, does the job but nothing special
I agree it's pretty crap
