Hello Srboljub, an excellent review as always. Thanks a lot. I had the LPS for quite some time, but hadn't installed it yet. Due to the fact, that I use my DMP-A6 as a streamer only in combination with the Denafrips ares 12th-1 and Iris 12th I didn't expect the difference to be substantial but you convinced me to give it a try and the first impressions are very positive. After buying, I was a bit of reluctant to try it out, but your opinion, which I appreciate highly, made me give it a try. First impressions are, that it opens the sound a bit more, base is more defined and present, so overall very satisfied so far.
I recently added an LHY LPS50v as a power source for my Pi² Design Mercury Streamer v.1. (Using a Pontus II DAC). I have noticed similar changes in the sound quality of my system that are mentioned here and this review helps to confirm that. THANKS for this review. I bet powering The Volumio Rio Streamer with the LHY LPS50v would create a similar improvement there, as well.
Excellent review! It was very helpful to me, especially comparing it to the Rivo; which I am considering because of your review of it. I am currently using a Node 2i with a PD Creative power supply *interface* board, and an external linear power supply from a US company called Pine Tree Audio. It sounds considerably better as a streamer, than with its stock switch mode power supply. My current reference DAC - the Geshelli Labs J2S (AKM 4499EX chipset) also runs on a different output of that same PTA power supply. It has two transformers and two regulation circuits, and supplies 5V for the Node 2i and 12V for the J2S. Again, the LPS makes a substantial improvement in the sound quality, in my opinion.
Thank you Neil. Based upon your helpful comments on a different board as well as Geno's (from Geshelli) encouragement, I had decided to reach out to Jesse at Pine Tree Audio in order to secure a custom version of his dual variable linear power supply. The idea is to take both my J2S 4499ex and WiiM Mini to their full potential. Just completed the design phase with Jesse and proceeded with my purchase of my custom, dual variable, LPS today. Next step will be to upgrade to the WiiM Pro Plus. Can't wait 😊 While both the A6 and A8 are intriguing, priorities dictate I buy my second S/510 sub and add a tube preamp to my Carver solid state amp first. In time, in time...
Great review, very in depth and insightful. I was skeptical despite this convincing review but the cost was reasonable to try out at least. Wow!!! I got the LHY Kit and it’s 80w LPSU for my Lumin U1 Mini. Yes, there is an obvious difference. Not huge but very obvious. For me it hits the right spot and I find it’s worthwhile.
Please, please review the Teddy Pardo external LPS. It is said that this unit delivers even a quieter source of power but at a higher price. It would be interesting to compare the two and determine if it would perform even better.
@iiWiReviews do you save all your analysis in some excel spreadsheet or something? Massive credibility in your reviews when you repeat the same comparison notes. Truly amazing. ❤
I don't write anything down, but I latch onto familiar references and keep them around. I do plug in those devices again to refresh my memory when needed for a reeviw.
I have an 8 grand streamer dac that has 2 of those power supplies in it, so it's in higher end stuff. It also makes sense that it made a bigger difference than the external power supply as it's were it should be, close to what it's supplying with less noise interference.
Question: Did you have a listen using the Eversolo w/LHY LPS as a streamer only and play using The Gustard DAC? If so, is there a noticeable sound improvement?
This is so telling, thank you so much as not many have taken this route in comparing. Interesting, as Beatechnik also has a LPS for the Volumio Rivo. Wondering how that would change things - if at all - compared to the Shanti LPS.
Hi I have an Eversolo DMP-A6 standard version but with the LPS LHY upgrade, in fact it was your video that made me decide to take it, what do you think of its association with the Gustard A26 or R26 ? Do you think I will go further than with the internal streamer ? Best
Many audiophiles interested for Eversolo already have decent DAC which is better than A6 and maybe even A8. It is waste of money buying Streamer / DAC paying for inferior quality DAC built in. I hope they will come out with reference quality Streamer only unit like Hifi Rose or Aurender did
You nailed I'd but I start loosing my faith with Everson changing models every 3 to 6 moths. I wish I could afford the HI fi Rose rs 130. I seriously think to try the whim pro +. I had enough with my Cambridge Audio 851N and the CXN v1
Review from "Soundnews" (on YT) says linear power is used for the analog section and switching for the digital. He just says it in passing, maybe he means linear for the conversion to analog. Hans Beekhuyzen has a video about the pros and cons of various power supplies, must look it up again. Begs the question anyways -- is a linear power supply beneficial if using an external DAC ... EDIT// he does say here it improves the digital out.
All the things you describe in terms of upgrading the sound to have better texture, space, relaxed, layering, spaciousness, speed, natural, etc. is what happens when you de-crappify the USB input with various devices. For instance, I have the now discontinued iFi Audio iGalvanic3.0 connected inbetween my computer's USB output and my DAC USB input. The reclocking, regenerating of the power, the de-jittering, etc. & the galvanic de-coupling, accomplishes the same things as this linear power supply. Now if you had them both : O
If I do a 'Blind test" will I be able to easily distiguish between a regular power supply and a linear power supply or the differences will be so minimal?!! I don't believe on a lot of Snake-oil stuff I have heard before!!
Hi. Does the dmp A6 with lps used as digital transport sound better than ifi zen stream with a decent linear power supply? I am thinking of upgrading my digital transport. Which digital output did you use when comparing to rivo - USB or coax? Thank you once again for a great review!
If a standard DMP-A6 was not good enough for me, I’d rather go with the Master edition, or even straight away the A8, instead of tinkering and still not achieving the same.
Eversolo should just implement a linear power supply into the A6. In a way they did in the master edition, but that is still switch mode. If using a cheaper switch mode supply it should be external to make the life of audio enthousiasts easier.
Nice review, i have the A6 standard. What would u recommend to keep the A6 and buy external dac (pontus12) and LPS . And sell the A6 and get the A8 ? Thanks and more power
Hello Srboljub, in your opinion does the LPS upgrade for the ever solo dmp a6 bring it on the same streaming level as the volumio Rivo with its power supply upgrade? Than you for your time
Hi :) Are you goind to review the new audalythic / gustard ah90 new streamer dac soon? It seems like a really good value product, plus it offers a separate 12v power input beside the main power inlet... If so, that would be awesome ;)

Decision, decision, decision. I don't like to touch or make changes to any devices as I like to keep the original condition as much as possible. Tempting to upgrade the A6 ....
Option should be to buy the upgraded or standard device. Then the cost will be more reasonable. Ex. Fosi V3 could be ordered on Ali with the 48V brick or the standard brick. Value to customer. Finally, what is a customer going to with the standard internal power supply of the eversolo? 😢
