Have yall considered that maybe she just thought it'd be fun to try out a new lip color? Henna isn't permanent, it's just a stain and by the time I'm commenting this it's definitely already gone. Let people get creative with whatever makeup products they want as long as it's not hurting anyone (because that's essentially what this is). This is about as severe as me dyeing my hair different colors. I don't mind my natural hair color, it's totally fine, I like it a lot, but other colors are fun too, and hair grows back! I would agree with this if that's what this was. At first, her channel was dedicated to embracing her differences, but she's become obsessed with changing anything she's insecure about. And that insecurity has specifically been her naturally two toned lips. Which she has spent the majority of her videos trying to change using things ranging from things that are meant to change the color of lips to things that are specifically not for your face or lips. It would be one thing if she was just trying to do it temporarily or if she was doing it for an event, but she is purposely trying to permanently alter her natural lips which she was preaching about embracing not too long ago. And I don't know about you, but trying to permanently alter the color of your lips doesn't scream, "embracing your natural features" to me. What y'all and a whole bunch of other people don't seem to be understanding is that there's a difference between enhancing your natural features and trying to change your natural features. And she is specifically and blatantly trying to change her natural features while preaching the opposite. If you haven't noticed, her lips are in a worst state from all this experimentation than they were when she started out and they were naturally two toned. Literally, almost all of her videos start with her complaining about the natural state of her lips and then she proceeds to experiment on them constantly.

Henna isn't advised to use near mouth if you eat it, you can get pretty serious reactions and it can have pretty serious reactions for some skins too. It also says on the packaging to not use it on face cause It is usually not made of natural materials
In colour theory, brown, even orange-brown, is mostly equal parts of the three primary colours (blue, red, and yellow) and because of that you can guarantee that brown has twice as much green as red... This is because green is made by mixing blue and yellow. So if the only other colour is red, then that means two thirds of the pigment you applied to your lips is green. So especially if you apply henna directly to something supposed to be red, it won't really matter how much the pigment oxidises or even if the pigment is more orange than normal brown, it'll come out green. You can buy red henna so maybe that would be more suitable

to clear things up, henna is completely natural. dont consume it, but putting it on your skin or hair is fine as long as you know the brand uses the original henna plant without mixing bad chemicals in it. henna is temporary and washes away easily after a week or two. secondly, shes not doing anything wrong, experimenting with henna doesn't take away from your self-esteem. seriously guys just cause someone preaches self-love doesn't mean they cant enjoy beauty products especially when theyre natural substances.

It’s not that we’re trying to control her or anything like that, this type of thing comes with risks. Yeah experimentation is a good thing, but not to this degree. Never put henna more than 20 min!! The more you keep it the more it dries out your hair. And putting on LIPS?! HELL NO. Your lips have no oil glands of their own. They can't moisturize themselves, putting henna and leaving overnight is the worst thing you can do. Even worse is exfoliating right after, lips are already irritated let's irritate it more, NO!
…I guess we gotta tell the entire Middle East, Northern Africa, and South Asia that the thing they’ve been doing for centuries is wrong… Henna is traditionally kept on for hours, often overnight. All these people with their “rules” about keeping henna on for these absurdly short times…have a traditional expert artist do your henna and see what happens when you try to go wash it off after 20 minutes. It’d be a great way to waste your money and show how little you value their time and skill. (Of course, if you’re doing your own or having someone do it for you who knows you’re gonna wash it off quick and is fine with it, then yeah, do whatever you feel most comfortable with. But don’t spread fake rules that completely contradict the centuries of tradition and expertise that have allowed you to even be aware of this art.)

Henna on the lips overnight is fine as long as the person applying it doesn’t mind how it feels. Gurl Henna is literally a brown colour and considering literally everyone has slightly different shades on their lips whether it’s subtle or not it’s gonna look different in every area Henna is also known to dry out the skin which is why many use hand cream or Vaseline more often to moisturise the hands cz henna can dry them out so it’s no shock it happened to ur lips if u really want it like a brown colour just u lip tints cz there’s not really a natural way of getting them brown looking pink is possible and even red if u use stuff like certain fruit juices or chilli powder cinnamon etc but henna isn’t a good option at all

Henna isn't permanent, it's just a stain and by the time I'm commenting this it's definitely already gone. Let people get creative with whatever makeup products they want as long as it's not hurting anyone (because that's essentially what this is).
This is about as severe as me dyeing my hair different colors. I don't mind my natural hair color, it's totally fine, I like it a lot, but other colors are fun too, and hair grows back! Self expression and experimentation are normal!

I would agree with this if that's what this was. At first, her channel was dedicated to embracing her differences, but she's become obsessed with changing anything she's insecure about. And that insecurity has specifically been her naturally two toned lips. Which she has spent the majority of her videos trying to change using things ranging from things that are meant to change the color of lips to things that are specifically not for your face or lips. It would be one thing if she was just trying to do it temporarily or if she was doing it for an event, but she is purposely trying to permanently alter her natural lips which she was preaching about embracing not too long ago. And I don't know about you, but trying to permanently alter the color of your lips doesn't scream, "embracing your natural features" to me. What y'all and a whole bunch of other people don't seem to be understanding is that there's a difference between enhancing your natural features and trying to change your natural features. And she is specifically and blatantly trying to change her natural features while preaching the opposite. If you haven't noticed, her lips are in a worst state from all this experimentation than they were when she started out and they were naturally two toned. Literally, almost all of her videos start with her complaining about the natural state of her lips and then she proceeds to experiment on them constantly.

Your not supposed to leave it over night just like 10 minutes or so until it dries. The longer you leave it on equals the darker the stain
10 minutes?? That is not how you apply henna bruh. You need to keep it on for at least 2-3 hours and most people leave it on overnight cuz that's easiest

Henna isn't advised to use near mouth if you eat it, you can get pretty serious reactions and it can have pretty serious reactions for some skins too. It also says on the packaging to not use it on face cause It is usually not made of natural materials

In colour theory, brown, even orange-brown, is mostly equal parts of the three primary colours (blue, red, and yellow) and because of that you can guarantee that brown has twice as much green as red... This is because green is made by mixing blue and yellow. So if the only other colour is red, then that means two thirds of the pigment you applied to your lips is green. So especially if you apply henna directly to something supposed to be red, it won't really matter how much the pigment oxidises or even if the pigment is more orange than normal brown, it'll come out green. You can buy red henna so maybe that would be more suitable

to clear things up, henna is completely natural. dont consume it, but putting it on your skin or hair is fine as long as you know the brand uses the original henna plant without mixing bad chemicals in it. henna is temporary and washes away easily after a week or two. secondly, shes not doing anything wrong, experimenting with henna doesn't take away from your self-esteem. seriously guys just cause someone preaches self-love doesn't mean they cant enjoy beauty products especially when theyre natural substances.

Never put henna more than 20 min!! The more you keep it the more it dries out your hair. And putting on LIPS?! HELL NO. Your lips have no oil glands of their own. They can't moisturize themselves, putting henna and leaving overnight is the worst thing you can do.
Even worse is exfoliating right after, lips are already irritated let's irritate it more, NO!

Henna is traditionally kept on for hours, often overnight. All these people with their “rules” about keeping henna on for these absurdly short times…have a traditional expert artist do your henna and see what happens when you try to go wash it off after 20 minutes. It’d be a great way to waste your money and show how little you value their time and skill.
(Of course, if you’re doing your own or having someone do it for you who knows you’re gonna wash it off quick and is fine with it, then yeah, do whatever you feel most comfortable with. But don’t spread fake rules that completely contradict the centuries of tradition and expertise that have allowed you to even be aware of this art.)

Dryness can be a concern, but it’s not a hard and fast “NEVER do this” rule. If you’re doing it once in a while only and moisturizing properly after, it’s fine.
Is henna on lips overnight the absolute best thing you can do for your skin/lips? Of course not, but it’s no worse than a million things people do all the time. It’s less damaging than going out into the sun without SPF on your lips, which people do absolutely all time.
My “entire long point” was long because it included some nuance, unlike your very generalized “rule,” where you kept mentioning hair even though we’re talking about lips. 20 minutes is absurdly short for any skin, including the lips, and definitely not some sort of commonly understood rule the way you were implying. I’m from a country where henna is traditionally used as well, and I don’t appreciate people, whether from our backgrounds or not, taking advantage of others unfamiliarity with it to pose as authorities with made up rules.
Henna on the lips overnight is fine as long as the person applying it doesn’t mind how it feels. One day of dryness from time to time won’t have any sort of lasting effect on the health of your lips, especially if you moisturize regularly.

Gurl Henna is literally a brown colour and considering literally everyone has slightly different shades on their lips whether it’s subtle or not it’s gonna look different in every area
Henna is also known to dry out the skin which is why many use hand cream or Vaseline more often to moisturise the hands cz henna can dry them out so it’s no shock it happened to ur lips if u really want it like a brown colour just u lip tints cz there’s not really a natural way of getting them brown looking pink is possible and even red if u use stuff like certain fruit juices or chilli powder cinnamon etc but henna isn’t a good option at all
