They genuinely fell in love with each other's soul. And the actors did such a great job at conveying that love with a slight change in their facial expressions, the way they look t each other... ugh! This is the most finest heart melting romantic stories I have ever watched. We have lots of mesmerising stories in Tamil, but never been filmed with the same soul and intergrity. But this one got me completely after the series of 24, homeland, bbt and money heist. Totally gobsmacked.

I utterly cried in this kdrama the love ,passions,emotions and the sadness between ae shin and Eugene is a 100% excellent.. All the actresses are so good..I love this film❤❤❤ so much.
@@elizaveta2043 The writer did the same thing with Goblin where the main characters, in the beginning of the series, have this conversation that can be seen as throwaway dialogue but then it comes back literally at the end. I knew she was going to pull something like that so when i got to episode 12, I went ahead and spoiled myself to the ending and then watched the rest of the series as well as preparing myself for it lol.
I have watched this a year ago bit still I love this drama ,only drama that made me a crying machine .Without much skinship/ no single kiss scenes their love story is so epic . Still the best drama I've ever watched. I just hope that Kim Taeri and Lee Byunghun to reunite in another drama (This time NO sad ending). I know that Lee Byunghun is already married but in the drama world, I wish to see him and Kim Taeri as a partner once again. Their actings really suit each other.

In America he lose his job, the only proof that he is American. Well, he can stay there and live a life but he will forever be worried for the love of his life, Ae Shin. In Joseon the country who never embraced him, the people were fighting for the country's independence which is something he doesn't want to do with her because of the story that happened to him there. All he wanted when he got released in prison is to be with is Ae Shin; who continue to fight for Joseon, the country he loathed. We all know that Ae Shin's priority is Joseon's independence. He knew that he have to wait for the country's independence that might take forever before they even get to be together. SO HE HAD TO SACRIFICE HIS SELF😭😭 THIS IS THE ONLY REASON I CAN THINK OF!!!!😭😭💔 WE ALL KNOW THAT KINA HUDO, DONG MAE, HUI SEONG, EUGENE AND AE SHIN DESERVES BETTER!!! I DON'T THINK I'LL GET OVER WITH THIS DRAMA😭😭
This is byfar the best historical drama ever. Great cinematography, magnificent actors, well written characters and storyline. Just real and simple yet will struck you to the core. All characters shown even for a slightest screen time have their purpose. I've said a lot but seriously no words can be enough to describe how beautiful this drama is, from the actors to the script. Well deserved from winning daesang. I just hope more people would see and appreciate this

All the actors in this piece of art should be praised but Kim Tae Ri takes the cake for me. All her scenes were executed flawlessly, viewers begin to see the depth of her character as the drama progresses.
The writing is remarkably new - when they walk together and Eugene asks about her reasons for putting herself in danger, and she answers are you worried about me? Eugene answers "no, about me". Then Ae-shin confused, turns to talking about the low flying birds and that it will rain the next day. I loved this bit. anybody else see this?
Finally someone talks about it. That damn scene stirred my heart and soul. And still think of it almost everyday. I thought I was the only one who acknowledged the beauty of that iconic scene. It's the defining scene of the entire drama-their fears, mottos and how they fall in love with each other later on. It's a masterpiece, in fact the bestest-something that we have never seen n felt before, something we would never see again.
One thing about this show is that is Isn't just a tear jerk romance. It speaks to the best and the worst of humanity and does it elegantly and powerfully. A wonderful story that was so well done it's absolutely unforgettable. If you can watch it unmoved, you have my pity.

"If life is a flower designed to wither, I wish for mine to bloom like fireworks" In the end, the 3 immigrants returned to fight for their home country, not directly, but indirectly by helping Aeshin. "We may have taken different paths, but it was our destiny to end up together. " Aeshin is symbolically joseon. And our 3 male leads are symbolically all the koreans (in jeoseon and those who immigrated) that came together for joseons independence and change.. So many sacrifices to save Aeshin. But in the end it was worth it. (Minus eugene. I really really~ wished he would live, even though it kept hinting he'll die)
bruh when Ae-shin servants die I was already swimming in tears because I love both of them so much then when they killed almost half of the supporting cast my eyes can't take it anymore. I was done. This K-drama sets the bar for one of the best out there.
This was such an amazing korean drama . I've never cried so much .I loved every character , because they all had their story , their own passion and their own value .I must say that Gu Dongmae was my favorite not only because he was handsome but I fell in love with his story and when he died I was crying for hours .One of the best kdramas literally!!
This is the best drama I have seen. I am not going to compare them to Secret Garden or My Love from Another Star which are in a different class. But, in terms of writing, plot, suspense, intrigue and yes romance, Mr. Sunshine is a spectacular drama. I have referred it to friends and family. There are so many great performances to point out but I will give a special shout out to Kim Taeri. What a beautiful and great actress she is. As delicate as a flower yet strong as steel. This is an old comment, but Secret Garden and Mr. Sunshine were actually written by the same writer. Kim Eun Sook has written a lot of great and iconic dramas, from those two - to Goblin, The Glory, a co-writer on Descendants Of The Sun, as well as many, many others. I think her pen is formidable, and I think her style is very distinctive even through translation. I think it's very well worth digging into the people who write these phenomenal dramas and stories.
It’s been a year since I watched this drama but still here I am.. I just can’t get over it..this drama had me crying from the first scene where eugene’s parents die and until the end..the only drama I could watch after this was stranger.. In the past I used watch whatever the drama that airs at the time.. but now I can’t watch any drama because of the standard in Mr. Sunshine.. I tried watching Vincenzo but I dropped it middle of the way and came back to this..I miss you Eugene and aeshin so much..I hope they get the opportunity to work on another project together in near future..can’t believe there’s a 20 year gap between them..best drama ever!!!
Out of all drama I've watched for the past decade, Eugene and Ae-shin love story is the most beautiful yet heartbreaking, their story definitely gonna stay in my heart for a long time. I know Lee Byunghun's personal life isn't very clean, but his acting is just superb that I can't help but becoming a fan. Been binge watching his past and new movies and not once he's giving bad or mediocre performance. Great actor indeed 👏👏👏

I honestly disliked the drama since my mom showed me it while I was allowed to play Roblox, but as I kept watching it at 10pm with my mom, it became so addicting. This is the best drama ever, there was not a single kiss scene and yet their love was strong. Watching this drama showed me a lot of what my country went through. I’m korean and watching the drama made my heart hurt, seeing how much people risked their lives for others to survive. *i will never forget the history of joseon.*

Thanks I am going to watch "My country the new age" I recommend you watch "Empress Ki" if you haven't, it also tells of the history of Korea then known as Goryeo and how they related with Yuan(modern day China) Besides the history, its such an amazing love story. A lot fighting and betrayal. I won't spoil it by talking about the end for those who haven't watched but the storyline, plot, great characters....you will not be disappointed

All the actors in this piece of art should be praised but Kim Tae Ri takes the cake for me. All her scenes were executed flawlessly, viewers begin to see the depth of her character as the drama progresses.
Through the series they gave us the hints of what was gonna happen.."gun", "glory" and "sad ending"😭
The writing is remarkably new - when they walk together and Eugene asks about her reasons for putting herself in danger, and she answers are you worried about me? Eugene answers "no, about me". Then Ae-shin confused, turns to talking about the low flying birds and that it will rain the next day. I loved this bit. anybody else see this?

Finally someone talks about it. That damn scene stirred my heart and soul. And still think of it almost everyday. I thought I was the only one who acknowledged the beauty of that iconic scene. It's the defining scene of the entire drama-their fears, mottos and how they fall in love with each other later on. It's a masterpiece, in fact the bestest-something that we have never seen n felt before, something we would never see again.
This drama lives the deepest scars on my heart, but i still can't get enough of it. I just love it too much.

One thing about this show is that is Isn't just a tear jerk romance. It speaks to the best and the worst of humanity and does it elegantly and powerfully. A wonderful story that was so well done it's absolutely unforgettable. If you can watch it unmoved, you have my pity.

Aeshin is symbolically joseon. And our 3 male leads are symbolically all the koreans (in jeoseon and those who immigrated) that came together for joseons independence and change..
So many sacrifices to save Aeshin. But in the end it was worth it. (Minus eugene. I really really~ wished he would live, even though it kept hinting he'll die)
bruh when Ae-shin servants die I was already swimming in tears because I love both of them so much then when they killed almost half of the supporting cast my eyes can't take it anymore. I was done. This K-drama sets the bar for one of the best out there.
This was such an amazing korean drama . I've never cried so much .I loved every character , because they all had their story , their own passion and their own value .I must say that Gu Dongmae was my favorite not only because he was handsome but I fell in love with his story and when he died I was crying for hours .One of the best kdramas literally!!

This is the best drama I have seen. I am not going to compare them to Secret Garden or My Love from Another Star which are in a different class. But, in terms of writing, plot, suspense, intrigue and yes romance, Mr. Sunshine is a spectacular drama. I have referred it to friends and family. There are so many great performances to point out but I will give a special shout out to Kim Taeri. What a beautiful and great actress she is. As delicate as a flower yet strong as steel. If you choose to watch this, you will not regret it!❤❤❤❤❤❤

This is an old comment, but Secret Garden and Mr. Sunshine were actually written by the same writer. Kim Eun Sook has written a lot of great and iconic dramas, from those two - to Goblin, The Glory, a co-writer on Descendants Of The Sun, as well as many, many others. I think her pen is formidable, and I think her style is very distinctive even through translation. I think it's very well worth digging into the people who write these phenomenal dramas and stories.
It’s been a year since I watched this drama but still here I am.. I just can’t get over it..this drama had me crying from the first scene where eugene’s parents die and until the end..the only drama I could watch after this was stranger.. In the past I used watch whatever the drama that airs at the time.. but now I can’t watch any drama because of the standard in Mr. Sunshine.. I tried watching Vincenzo but I dropped it middle of the way and came back to this..I miss you Eugene and aeshin so much..I hope they get the opportunity to work on another project together in near future..can’t believe there’s a 20 year gap between them..best drama ever!!!
Out of all drama I've watched for the past decade, Eugene and Ae-shin love story is the most beautiful yet heartbreaking, their story definitely gonna stay in my heart for a long time. I know Lee Byunghun's personal life isn't very clean, but his acting is just superb that I can't help but becoming a fan. Been binge watching his past and new movies and not once he's giving bad or mediocre performance. Great actor indeed 👏👏👏

You also can feel the sadness and insecurety about thinking if they have a future together... They knew that their future would end up like that they just didn't want to believe...

I honestly disliked the drama since my mom showed me it while I was allowed to play Roblox, but as I kept watching it at 10pm with my mom, it became so addicting. This is the best drama ever, there was not a single kiss scene and yet their love was strong.

It might because it wasn't so long after i finished watching it but this really hurts.Ughhh I still get emotional and on the verge of crying everytime i hear these drama's ost In every aspect this drama excelled, leaving me with higher expectations than i already have when watching dramas. I should probably try watching light theme dramas to distract me from this heart breaking story but I just can't. I will be forever haunted and amazed by how cruel and beautiful this story is.

What a beautiful job!!! I cried several times for being a very well-made and beautiful story. Really a kdrama that can't be missed. It was really breathtaking. This one is definitely a MUST watch. One word to describe everything about this kdrama is badass💯 Its like sitting down for 4-courses meal but receiving 10-courses that were delicious and satisfying far beyond expectations.
One of the most kdrama i've seen. This kdrama left the pains in my chest. Im in love with the storyline, the actors, chemistry, realistic, emotions, beautiful setting, ost... Besides the history, its such an amazing love story. A lot fighting and betrayal. I won't spoil it by talking about the end for those who haven't watched but the storyline, plot, great characters....you will not be disappointed
