    I think the moral of the story is that we're all fallible and allowing others to know that it isn't always sunshine and roses makes for a more realistic picture. Thanks for showing that you have human struggles! In addition, it's so helpful to see your process as you redeem what appeared to be a lost cause. The black contrasts beautifully. The background is great. Well done you!! ❤

    Never an absolute failure!!! My remedies for a background I’m not happy with include: acrylic paint to completely change it (is this not what black acrylic paint was made for???!!!); cover with glitter (ModPdge extreme glitter or the DecoArt galaxy glitter some of my favourites for this); or add more texture with stencil or stamps and ink or acrylic paint… experimenting, making mistakes and learning new things is all part of it, and covering something you aren’t happy with with glitter or black acrylic paint can be extremely therapeutic 😂 thanks for the video, and I’m still keen to get my hands on these metallic neo colours 😍😍😍

      Wonderful ideas! Yes - a good coat of matte black acrylic paint can fix a multitude of things. :) And glitter and stencils are always a good thing! :D

    Oh Connie...sometimes life is so messy. You are amazing and a human being!!!! this side of you is so important to show that life happens!! we do not always have easy with life. I want you to know I have ripped out a lot of pictures!!! and so mad at myself for not being able to color for crying at loud! You have shown me that I am not any different then anyone else. Everyone has days....life is messy. I make perfect pages like what I save on Pinterest!! welll I do not. I have my own style I guess. I keep trying my friend!! Sty well and stay away from the ticks!!! I adore you and your channel. Oh and grief...wow that is huge. I just got another ...very painful I might add...tattoo of my beautiful boy Moose who passed almost 2 years now. I still cry when those memories show up on FB. Time heals all wounds...we will see. Thanks for sharing! Hopefully you feel a bit better talking it all out. Sorry your summer was not the restful one you are hoping for. Teaching is exhausting and as we get older it takes more out of us. I think part of it is because we care so much about our students and we take on some of their worries and struggles, much like we do with our own children. Glad to hear Mr. Colouring Chemist is on the mend. Sorry about your loss. Not sympathy, just understanding being sent here. As far as the page goes, I actually think it looks great on screen. Looks like an iridescent purple. The black looks fabulous against it too! Please share your completed page when you are done! Lots of great lessons shared today! Have a great weekend!

Grieve losses however you need - I believe talking is one of the best ways to continue to move through it. Your vulnerability is appreciated and further strengthens your connection to the community.
    I can always count on you for experimentation, so please don't let change how you determine whether to film. It was fun and interesting! I can see that you must be an excellent teacher!!

    Now I want those metallic neo ones! Because they turn so darn shinny! I wonder if you use a heat gun to heat your page and then buff them again. I bet that would help blend the colours a bit.

    Hi Connie, i am sooooo sorry to get you in trouble, it was not my intention……I don’t have this product and the glossy shine you got was so beautifull, so i wanted to see how you did it. I totally was not in a hurry that’s why i asked you to show it one day. I didn’t want to rush you… That said, i think you did a good job to make it better. When you finish your page i think it come out great! And if you don’t like it maybe you can make a copy and glue it on…

      Oh, Linda - please, please, please don't apologize!!!! :) I love that you requested a tutorial video and it was totally my fault that things didn't turn out the way I intended - if I would have stuck with a single colour and not tried to get fancy, it would have been fine. :) And I could have decided to not post this recording and try again another day but I wanted to show folks that mistakes happen and that it's totally ok. :)

    I always look forward to your videos and i appreciate how genuine you are. Im starting to understand what its like recording videos and posting them for all to see and maybe not being in the mood that you want to be in or are portraying in said videos. I like watching people who are raw and real no matter if its going to gain subscribers or not. This is what i intend for my channel and this is one of the many reasons i watch you. We may not know one another but im only a click away if u ever need anyone. You've got so many of us in this community that has your back because your just awesome! I hope this whole issue with the platform you use better and i hope a solution should arise... My kids just started school today and you're totally allowed to be stressed about starting up again. Its valid. Especially after that mishap with your website. You're a trooper, a survivor and an inspiration!
    Question: Do you set the Neocolor l? The regular ones or the metallic? Is there a film or can you feel it?

    • @colouringchemist
      @colouringchemist  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Awww... Thank you for your kind words of support! :) Recording videos is so much harder than the final product makes it seem, isn't it? Everyone who records and posts videos on TH-cam deserves so many kudos!!
      I don't set or fix the Neocolor I backgrounds. Once you've done the buffing with a tissue, the surface is very smooth and non-sticky. I put a small sheet of tracing paper (or parchment paper, etc.) between the pages of my book if I've done this kind of a background just because the Neocolor I crayons are so pigmented - I want to make sure that no colour from the background rubs off on the facing page. And I've decided that the Neocolor I metallic crayons work best for this technique. The non-metallic ones are just a little bit stickier and don't give that ultra-high gloss look.
      Hope that helps!

    Regarding the platform upgrade removing certain features: I am an IT admin, and in my experience this occurs if there is a vulnerability with those features that could pose a security risk. The features may likely return in the future once the developers fix the vulnerability. Doesn’t remove the frustration, but hopefully it can explain some things.

    • @colouringchemist
      @colouringchemist  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ahhhhhh - thank you for that, Jessica! Makes sense! I've often wondered why upgrades would sometimes take away functions but your explanation clears it up - I hadn't considered the security risk aspect. :)
      Thank you!!

    Hi Connie, awhile ago you talked about Castle Arts Harmonious pencils. You said you ordered from their website. When I tried it told me immediately that they don’t ship to Canada. How were you able to order? You are in Canada, yes?

    • @colouringchemist
      @colouringchemist  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You're correct - I'm in Canada. :) But I did a bit of a work-around to get the Harmonious pencils. :) I live near the border with the States and I have a US postal box where I can get things shipped to and then I drive over to pick them up. I placed my order through the Castle Arts website but had them ship to the US box. Hopefully, the Harmonious pencils will be available on Amazon Canada soon!
