Great to see you both. There are so many distinct pens, so many choices. Odin is a great pen ambassador. I liked the look of the pens at 6:48 and Decograph.
There were sooooooo many cool pens. Honestly never knew this hobby was so big. I was seriously thinking it was going to be this little room with like 20 vendors...nooooope. hahahaha. Thanks so much for watching my friend! Cheeeeeeeers
I wish I had an answer for you on that one, but I really don't know as it was my first experience. I'm sure some are cheaper and I did hear people haggling a bit. Thanks for watching.
Oh dude, that's awesome. One vendor was talking about how he knew most of the people in the room. Hahaha for someone that was totally not into this hobby, I now see how addictive and fun it can be.
How did you find the show? At 8:00 the pen looks to have a bit of raden. So there are pieces of mother of pearl put onto the pen, and then coats of urushi lacquer is applied. Urushi is a kind of sap from trees. The technique is time consuming and done only by special masters. I hope you enjoyed the show. Fountain pens are really a great writing experience.
My wife is really into the pen community and wanted to go to the Pacific Northwest one, but couldn't make it and pulled the trigger on this one. Had a blast, would definitely do it again.
Thanks much for this. i was sick this year and couldn't go, so it was nice to see things happening. And it was a gorgeous pen your wife got there at the end. I noticed at the beginning of the video you were very carefully pronouncing the word "pen," which makes me wonder if you've got the same linguistic background that I do. I come from the southern Midwest, and one thing that a lot of people who come from there or southwards (or whose parents came from there) have is an inability to differentiate short i from short e if it occurs before an "n." Which is to say, we can't hear the difference between (for instance) "pen" and "pin," and tend to pronounce them both as "pin." The first time I told my wife I was going to a pen show, she looked at me as if I were from some other planet. Then it dawned on her what I meant, and she laughed hysterically. So now I need to be really careful to pronunce the short e when I discuss such matters, or become the victim of merciless teasing. The other thing that was utterly charming was your own reaction to the very existence, let alone popularity, of such an event. If you've ever seen Chris Rock's documentary on "Good Hair," he went to a convention/celebration of African-American hair products. The place was packed, full of vendors and buyers and all kinds of fun events. Watching this, I had the same sort of reaction you had to the pen show, and was left with my mouth hanging open. There are so many social/commercial nooks and crannies in the world that we have absolutely NO idea about, and a lot of them are really very cool.
It was so awesome seeing all these people so excited for their hobby, I loved it. Hahaha that's kinda funny you talk about pins and pens. I was having a discussion with my friends about just that and how they can sound the same, but that is how I say pen. Funny enough, my folks are both from Wisconsin, so that possibly could be it,but also I'm a NorCal guy. Hehehe. I really hope you are feeling better and thanks for watching and commenting! Glad I was able to be your eyes. I tried to not talk much and show show show. Cheeeeeeeeers!
Pen Community? What's next? Riding elevators? Exploring dying, dead, and struggling malls? ....Oh, wait, I do those. :P You never know where you'll find something interesting, no matter how odd, weird, or out-there it may seem.
@@Delaypat Oh, yeah. Nuttin' wrong with it. :) I still have a pen from my family trip to New York City from 1986. Pen long used up, but the mechanical scene on top still works. It's a ferry that goes back and forth, depending how you hold the pen. It had the city skyline with the Twin Towers on the far left.
oooh you scared me that short moment you dared to put your mask off and ate. Hope you are safe back home. The only safe place in the show seemed to be a bar. No viruses allowed there.
What a fun adventure! The purple pen is beautiful 💜
Thank you so much for watching and commenting. It was such a new experience and really enjoyed it. Everyone was so friendly.

It's never enough pens and ink. Lol.
Hahahha seriously. Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheeeers
Well, that was a fountain of interesting information! 😮 Pokemon is always the right choice.
Exceptional!
Gotta say that is a great vid from the pen show! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so very much. It was really cool seeing my wifes hobby up close and now I'm on the dark side
Yum pens!
Sooooooooo many!
I attended the Washington DC FP show this year. It was extremely crowded; it looks as if the SF International was much more roomy. I envy you guys.
Next year you gotta come!
HOW FUN!!!
Going again with my wife in August. She got me hooked, so keep an eye out for this years video.
@@Delaypat maybe I'll see you guys there! #BayChick #CaliGirl

It was the best show and way fun…..I bought one pen, lots of paper, and was gifted two pens. The guests are simply the friendliest.
Right? Everyone was so friendly and nice. It was a really good experience. So glad you had a good time. Cheeeeeers
Its great to see you having a wonderful experience. Thank you for sharing.😊
I'm so glad you had fun watching. Cheeeeeeeers!
Good pen choice. A fun video!
Thank you so very much. Have a great day!
Thank you for the video. Question about the pen show. Do the vendors offer lower prices in the show compared to buying from US retailers?
I wish I had an answer for you on that one, but I really don't know as it was my first experience. I'm sure some are cheaper and I did hear people haggling a bit. Thanks for watching.
I am in the video!
We are going to try to come see you at the crocker soon. You were a highlight for me.
LOVELY 👌👌👌😍
Many many thanks
I recognized the Speers with Pen Realm and some other familiar faces from the PNW Show. Cannot wait until next year! ❤

I love you nerds!! And pat, that shirt rocks!
I learned it from watching you! Hahahahaha thanks so much man. Freaking love you man. Cheeeeeeeeeeeers!

Was that Drew from Goulet Pens at the Montegrappa table?
Apparently so. Had no idea until someone said something on reddit about it.
What was the beautiful purple pen? Looks familiar, but the brand and model escapes me right now.
My wife says Nahvalur Schuylkill. Thanks for watching! Cheeers
@@Delaypat ..Aha, I get it. I just couldn’t remember the Schuylkill part of the name. Thanks, bud!
Heck yeah, no problem at all. Cheeeers
Even here you beat me Saj? Oh man....
In case you didn't know, the revived fake omas nibs are made by Navhalur I believe. Or that is what I am hearing.

Hahaha right? Lisa got big into pens and that's 1000% okay in my book. And now I have a cool new pen I use for sketching so it all worked out

@georgef551 oh wow, I'm sure if you post it on reddit, someone could help you figure out a replacement ink. That's really cool
Who's selling @ 5.00 ?
I'm so sorry, I didn't catch the name unfortunately. It was a one man show. I'll see if I can catch it in the unedited footage.so sorry about that.
Thanks - and thanks for your reply.
Good luck with the joint ownership pen! 😀@@Delaypat
Hehehw thanks much. I'm going to use it mostly for sketching I think. I really like how it felt in my hands....and so it begins right? Heheheeh
Hahah Yep... and so it begins... @@Delaypat
From the pen clip and body it looks like a Namiki. Perhaps with a soft medium nib???
