    Good morning Brock. Those were a lot of good reasons why you dig your burn holes the way that you do. I could not contemplate buying a tractor bigger than a garden tractor without a backhoe, loader, and mower deck. For those of us that will use it just for our own use it is like a swiss army knife. There are many machines that are better and faster but it will absolutely get the job done. And, at an affordable price for the average property owner. God bless and have a wonderful day. Besides, I bet that using the backhoe made for a nice stress free day. 👍👍🙂

    We burned this way for well over 60 years out here, and only recently had a big problem. This spring fire took into the roots in the side of that burn pit and went underground, TWO MONTHS LATER when we had the 40KM/H winds against that side and funneled air into a hot pocket in the roots and started a fire up that spread to one of my sheds in the matter of minutes. Never saw fire go under and last so long, but according to the Fire Marshall, this is their major cause of fires this summer, he also said the longest he has seen this go on is a full 2 years (with snowy Canadian winters) and the fire still lasted underground too spring back up 2 years later. What he did on his own farm was to salvage an 1000 gallon tank and turn it into a incinerator, where everything burns above the ground.

    Backhoes are so handy on the farm. My grandfather had an excavation business and when he retired he still had 2 backhoes and a bulldozer. We dug everything. Dead cow, we buried it. Pond maintenance, no problem. Thankfully, Grandpa was also licensed for dynamite, because I remember a few times blasting for post holes. Rock seems to be the biggest growing crop around Table Rock.

    Ever consider using a steel culvert im the bottom of a trench with a hole on the opposite end on the culvert this will function as a Dakota pit, fire pit? It will burn twice as hot, completely incinerate the ash, fraction of the smoke, and if your fire is dying down, put a 18v cordless fan in the hole toward the culvert and it will function like a bellow feeding a massive ammount of air to the center of the fire making the coals red hot. It would be an awsome video, biggest Dakota pit ever! If your not familiar with how they work look them up, yours would be a jumbo version. Would be a big benefit to having a burn pit.

    Great Idea to dig burn pit. My idiot neighbor set a brush fire next to a corn field during a drout. Unfortunately he was one of the town elites and was never charged.

    Burning regulations at my location are a PITA. This makes burning brush piles something for large commercial services like logging and building site land clearing services. Most residential land owners keep a very small "Recreational Fire Ring" going to dribble in yard waste. This might take a few days or weeks but it will slowly but eventually eat up all the waste wood.
    During wet months when getting a burning permit is as easy a making a phone call, a larger fire is easy to maintain by keeping it contained within a rolled up 'cattle panel' 4' x 16'. That will make a diameter of 5'. This allows the waste to lean up against the 'fence' instead of fall down to the ground. This keeps the burn up tall where it gets plenty of air, burns hot & fast.

    Weld some chains inside the bucket They will help rattle the clay out.. Something big, but within reason.

    • @timcrosby4651
      @timcrosby4651 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      How do you mean? We have lots of clay here in Kansas City and it’s a pain in the ass. What keeps the chain from getting impacted with clay?

    • @timgodsey3095
      @timgodsey3095 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You want a large chain that you can shake and rattle when you empty the bucket. That's what we did in that black mud around Houston and that red East Texas clay.

    Personally I like pits better. Dig it, burn it, cover it back up! I have been wanting a thumb for my backhoe and noticed yours. What brand and model is it?

  • @rodbagley1686

    Love my little 1025r with the backhoe. Are you sure that's a burn pit? Looking more like a grave site. Your thinking your on that show on TV where they have been digging for treasures on that island? In The Money Pitt. At first I thought you were starting a new pond project! It's all fun anyway.

      The way they did it when I was growing up is once a year somebody would rent a backhoe and dig a burn pit for themselves and a couple neighbors.
      These would be big enough you could park a truck in and we would burn in them for years at a time.

    • @rodbagley1686
      @rodbagley1686 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have burnt a bunch of brush and trash wood but never did a hole like that.

    Your tractor backhoe has it's place, and I'm sure it's handy, but if you went over to the yellow side of Deere, you could dig a pit like that in under 30 minutes.

      Parts of my property could use a good brush fire, I haven't had the time to cut it all down this year. One of the best gardens we've ever had was planted after we burned some brush. We're on the East coast, very wet, not many chances of an out of control brush fire. @@bspegasus

    Hey Brock, I enjoy your content, as for the EPA, if they have a problem with anybody burning their stuff then they can come out a pick it up theirselves and dispose of it at their cost. We the people did not establish the EPA and I am sure most of the country would vote them out of existence if they could.
