My brother did the same, adding fuel with the bottle, he caught fire, thank God he was near the river, he ran onto the wharf and jumped in

It would help to mention wind as a variable. A lot of people don't consider wind speeds that could be checked before lighting.

Yes good catch! Winds should be less than 10mph with an ideal of 5mph.

I have a pile I need to burn right now after Hurricane Idalia. It's probably 20 ft diameter and 8 ft tall. I've done bigger in the past and a good idea is to cut the debris to be as compact as possible. This will restrict oxygen so the flames don't shoot very high. Still my biggest fire had flames higher then the tree line.

Good idea! We do try to keep it as compact as possible but sometimes those trees have to burn as is!

Hallo, toll erledigt.

Oh good idea! Sorry about that. I'll see if we can get a better video next time we burn :)

If youre far away from other trees why would there be any concern for an incident? Im new to burn piles im trying to learn

It really depends on your surroundings. Anything from grass to mulch can catch fire and spread. And we don’t have a nearby water source so for us we choose to be extra cautious. I hope that helps!

That's kind of a big pile. I need to do this but the pile should be only half that size. The heat and smoke can be irritating. Other than that, I guess you had fun playing with fire that day. I'm just wondering how much work it was removing all of those trees in the first place!?

You definitely only want to burn as much as you can handle. We would’ve never taken this on as our first or even 5th time around. I believe this was somewhere around burn 15 or so. It honestly was more work getting the trees there than the fire itself 😂 But, we also let the pile build over time and only burn when the weather is right, so if the pile shouldn’t get any bigger, we wait to add more til the weather has allowed us to get rid of the current pile. It’s an ebb and flow…I hope that makes sense 😊

    Wow. That’s a large fire.

Absolutely! That’s why it’s super important to only burn when you know what you’re doing. ❤️
