Thanks so much for making this video - I was about to waste money on a crappy tool! For those of us who have a metal lathe, the smart thing to do is simply turn a tapered ring compressor - this video made me think of that.

Working in motorcycles and atv’s, I use the pliers and band style. Because we have to be able to get the compressor from between the cylinder and the block

I wish I saw this earlier! I went through an extra set of piston rings because I tried to use the first 2.
Another crappy thing about the first two, is if you have stiff rings for a turbo/super/nitrous motor, is once you have the oil rings(thin bottom ones) in, the big compression rings will push out the compressor at the bottom and taper in the top, rendering it useless

I like my quick racket set up to 7 inches, got them many years ago and they still are great

Mr. Brito, you recommended the Wiseco brand. I see the ARP brand has a lip at the bottom. I could imagine having a lip will allow the rings jump from the tool to the cylinder smoothly. Having a lip would allow the tool sit into the bore without moving around. I am debating which to buy. ARP more expensive. Good idea to have lip? Your comment is appreciated.

Unfortunately, they don't seem to make the non-adjustable ring compressor in the small 56mm (2-3/16") size I need.
