- In this video, I discuss what I consider to be the best albums of the 2020s so far! We are halfway through the decade and I thought I'd compile a list of the albums that have really stood out for me through these past 5 years!

Awesome episode!!!!
Fauna is amazing! Don't let anyone try to make you feel bad for liking it. Amazing music. Great list Nathan!
Fantastic video! A few choices I didn't know, I will make sure to seek them out an listen. Please keep your videos coming, I like your taste.
Great list! Now I want to make my own list and video on this topic!
I'll admit I'm a sucker for this list format, but appreciate hearing your takes given how many great albums I've found from the channel
Nice! There's a handful of these that'd be candidates for my list as well, namely Porcupine Tree, Ok Goodnight, The Dear Hunter, Kyros, and Toehider. Though I'd probably favor I LIKE IT from Toehider over I Have Little To No Memory of These Memories (even though that's a fantastic one as well).
I didn't know Nickel Creek. Just gave it a quick listen and that is definitely going on the playlist at work tomorrow. Thank you! :D
Awesome! No problem!
@@NathanOnShuffle I fell in the rabbit hole and found out that I freaking love progressive bluegrass. Chris Thile is a genius.
I always liked bluegrass casually, but I hadn't found this branch of it yet. It's not every day I add a whole new genre to my library. Thanks again!
Great video Nathan. Many excellent choices; particularly like the addition of Advent Horizon’s A Cell to Call Home and Nospun’s Opus!
Nice job!
You sound almost apologetic that MEER's Wheels Within Wheels is one of your favorite albums. Please don't be. I can't stop listening to it myself and recommending it to people. Keep up the great work Nathan. I'm discovering a lot of great music because of you!
Thanks, I really appreciate that! I definitely need to work on being less apologetic and having more confidence, and comments like this really help me with that!
As a big Marillion fan (which I know you’re not), "An Hour Before It's Dark" would obviously be on my list. But hey, musical tastes can be wonderfully similar yet uniquely different. I truly appreciated your list, and it’s inspired me to listen-or revisit-some of these amazing albums!
I've struggled with Marillion over the years, but I do overall really like them and I think "An Hour Before It's Dark" is awesome! Definitely worthy to include!
Nice list! If you are on an island with Dirt Poor Robins then you and I are on the same island. Great stuff. Hard to fit into 25 though. Styx Crash of the Crown would easily fit into mine though.
Crash of the Crown is fantastic, great choice!
Fauna is amazing! definitely my fav prog album of the 2020s!
Really enjoyed this one. My tastes also lean towards the pop end of prog, so Meer and Moon Safari were obvious purchases for me, plus a few others. And Dirt Poor Robins also, if it was available on CD. As you like vocal harmony, what do you think of Jacob Collier?
I've loved what I've heard from Jacob Collier, but I admittedly haven't heard a lot of his music yet. Definitely on my list to check out more from him!
Hey Nathan! No Jon with TRUE? Why? I don't understand??? Please fill me in. Thanks!😎
It's a great one, no doubt! Would be totally worthy on a list like this...just barely missed mine this time around!
Great list! I was just wondering if the cover graphics also played a role in selecting these albums 🙂-so many of them are truly impressive.
But I guess Prog Rock albums just tend to have great covers; it seems to be part of the overall concept."
Great to see Pendragon and Wobbler made your list. Are you familiar with Alcest? I recommend their latest album, Les Chants de l'Aurore. Some would argue, is it Prog? I think it's brilliant.
I did check out Alcest’s latest and really liked what I heard, but have been meaning to go back to it, so thanks for the reminder!
Bravo. Pleased to see Celebrants and Antimai on the list. Wish I could figure out Meer! Seems perfect for me on paper but it hasn’t connected yet.
I'm surprised Meer isn't connecting with you also...it's hard for me to even communicate why it connects with me so well, but it just hits this sweet spot for me that I recognized right when I first heard 'Playing House'. But, I can see that many people aren't quite as enthusiastic as I am about it (even if many can appreciate it for what it is).
I just love the majesty and grandness of the orchestral elements and the passion behind the dual vocals. Something like 'Today, Tonight, Tomorrow' is just stunning to me with how it builds and soars...
But, I wonder if it leans a bit too poppy for you and misses that Prog 'quirkiness' that you might be looking for?
But, who knows, really...sometimes it just isn't for you and that is ok too...there are a ton of bands that I feel I should like but just haven't connected yet either...
Great video! I obviously agree with many of your choices - no surprise there 🙂
My favorite bands that have released albums in the 2020's are Haken, Dream Theater, Caligula's Horse, Pineapple Thief, and Frost*,
Cool show. Hopefully more youtubers put out this type show the remainder of the year.
Albums from your list I need to check out (hopefully this decade...) are the ones from Nospun, Toehider, and the Von Hertzen Brothers.

🔥🔥🔥
Good list, even if I expect mine would look radically different. Bear Ghost was new to me. On a first listen it seems to land somewhere in the middle of the Jellyfish/Mr Bungle venn diagram. This is a good thing.
Thanks Nathan!
should i listen to moon safari vol 1 before vol 2, or does it matter?
I don’t think it really matters, they feel like 2 pretty separate albums. And I much prefer vol 2 myself, but definitely both are worth listening to!
Best symphonic prog of all time?
