My grandma and mom had me listening to prince all the time and I loved the movie and now it's so hard for me to listen to this song cause all of them are gone now 😔
@@tripplels1 And Prince passed away, too. I know it's hard when all the memories come back, thinking of those who are gone. But what were their lives for if we don't remember them and keep them in our hearts? So let's listen to the music that reminds us of all our beloved ones, and think of them with a tear in one eye and a smile on our faces....
@@matthewrandom4523 ik I remember holding back tears in class when my teacher told me about it and nobody else really cared cause most kids in my generation listen to bull crap
Yes this is from his Box Office hit Movie "Purple Rain" Prince beat Mozart, he mastered over 27 instruments by age 17, he could dance, sing any note, rap, he wrote, arranged, performed ALL his music, including wrote hits for other artists, he has covered almost every genre, Metal, Punk rock, hip hop, pop, r&b, soul, jazz, blues, country, ambience, classical. The Multi-Genre God. He could play anything, and your favorite artists have been deeply influenced by him. Corey Taylor, Steve vai, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, worship Prince to just name a few. Prince recorded his first 2 albums at 16 all by himself, all instruments, arrangement, composition was all by him. He was such a prodigy, that music executives wanted proof, they would fly across country just to see if he could really play all instruments, because it was so unheard of. Prince has over 50 official released albums and when he passed, they found over 10 thousand unreleased Prince music in his vault. He then came into the business and was the FIRST to fight for artists rights, and he WON. He would write "slave" on his cheek and go to meetings protesting against the industry. Prince was also the first artist to sell his music on the internet. You are talking about the most talented artist we will ever see.
Um. I LOVE Prince. But to compare him to Mozart, is just CRAZY. Mozart is by FARRRRRRRRRRR (wont type the r's it'll take to for you to understand). Think Prince could write a FULL symphony at SEVEN. That's EVERY instrument in said symphony. Please think before you speak.
I know I'm old but that you haven't heard Prince until now made me feel even older. Words like iconic and legend are just the beginning. He called his band The Revolution and that's exactly what he was about 40 years ago. Yes, that video was from the movie Purple Rain and it's one of the best music movies ever made and a must-see. There are a ton of live Prince videos out there but to pick just one, here's a link to his halftime performance at the Super Bowl where he does Purple Rain in the midst of a total downpour. The organizers asked whether he was going to be ok performing in the rain and his response was "Can you make it rain harder?" th-cam.com/video/-WYYlRArn3g/w-d-xo.html
Yeah, i see I'm old when I find videos of people reacting for the first time to all the songs that were part of my life😅. Jokes aside, that's the beauty of art. Artists are gone, I'll be gone, you'll be gone and the art will still be here for someone to feel it for the first time.
His guitar game IS unreal. Check out Little Red Corvette or for some guitar shredding the 2007 RRHF performance of While My Guitar Gently Weeps. It's legendary.
You have no idea how talented this man was! YOU MUST CHECK OUT THE 2007 SUPER BOWL HALFTIME SHOW. To Really understand this clip that you watched you must see the movie. Other songs of his is Little Red Corvette and Darling Nikki. You haven't even begun to scratch the surface of how talented this man was! He taught himself how to play 27 different instruments. He was a musical icon!
If you liked this performance, you would definitely enjoy his performance on Rock & Roll Hall of Fame "While my Guitar Gently Weeps", which was a tribute to George Harrison from the Beatles, but he absolutely MURDERED! Potentially the best solo ever.
Yes, it's the movie's final scene, wrapping up various plotlines, but it is also 100% real - watch: 'Purple Rain 1983, Prince and The Revolution - The recording of'
You two need to check out the film Purple Rain, it is my secret hidden pleasure film that I watch like once a. year. It's about a 'kid' from a broken family with anger and jealousy issues, who falls for a new girl in town, Apollonia, who wants to be a singer. The kid is in a band, The Revolution, and every night they perform in First Avenue and so do other bands. The venue manager is mad with 'the kid' because all the problems he has with his parents and girfriend make it into the live performances, and he doesn't dig it at all. He warns him that he only has three band slots and if he doesn't get his act together The Revolution will lose their slot. There is a rival band who make fun of 'the Kid' and his music, and to make things worse, the singer of that band is after his girlfriend and to try to seduce her, offers her to be a singer in a sexy girl group he's put together. This is the band the manager of First Avenue is thinking of hiring to replace The Revolution. Anyway, Prince wrote ALL the tracks to the Purple Rain album, including the title track (in the film, the girls in the band wrote the riff, but in actual fact Prince wrote it and the entire song and EVERY track that was to support the film and the soundtrack, and wrote some tracks specifically for certain scenes when the director asked him to. Like the next day he would turn up with the new tracks the director needed, and that blew his mind. Prince even wrote all the tracks for the other 'rival' bands seen in the film, which in reality were bands he had put together and had produced their albums. Prince was a genius musician and could play ANY instrument, and songwriting came to him naturally, since he was a small child. He was also a brilliant live performer, as you can see from the video you watched. You said he looked shy, well when he was performing live, he was anything but shy. If you see the film, you'll know what I mean. The whole live venue performances in the film WERE indeed filmed live in the famous First Avenue in Minnesota (where Prince would go to see live bands and also play live when he first started out) and therefore it was a local live crowd in the film, many of whom were old school friends of Prince and can be seen in the film watching him perform as part of the 'crowd'. Two days in a row, Prince and the Revolution performed live, and therefore the film crew had only two long live takes available to them. Prince's vocals and guitar playing were so pitch perfect that it actually is hard to believe that that was him playing live, but indeed it was. You should do a Reaction to the film!
Oh my word... I was about to get offline for the night and saw this. I saw the movie, Purple Rain, with a group of friends when it first came out. 💜 Memories from my teen years...
This is part of the movie Purple Rain. View the movie and you will not only enjoy it immensely but also understand a lot about his talent. He was a genius.
Please watch THE 1985 AMA'S LIVE performances. PRINCE OWNED that show & audience. He won everything he was up 4 .So much so that Lionel Ritchie said "PRINCE, stay in ur seat" IT WAS AWESOME !!😛
You just can't not wave your hand or play air guitar to this. You guys want to hear a one of a kind female vocalist check out Morissette Amon from Philippines singing Rise Up cover on wishbus 107.5 . If Whitney, Mariah, and Christina had a baby it would be this girl. She has a HUGE reaction following on TH-cam.
I watched the movie "Purple Rain" and found out later that it was based on his life. After his Father committed suicide he found the words to the song that his Father wrote and put the music to the words. The man sitting on the side with the sun glasses on was his Fathers' Friend and had watched Prince grow up with the abuse that his Parents were doing Prince turned his hate into the love for music. He said that when he heard his Mother cry it sounded like Doves crying and he wrote "When Doves Cry". I have Always loved this movie and I never liked the parts of where his Father would beat his Mother because I watched my Father do the same thing to my Mother and I Always tried to stop him from doing it. Then one morning I woke up and my Father said that my Momma was gone. She left before he would have beaten her to death. And I knew that was True. Because after she left I turned my hate for him at the time towards music. And everytime I hear this song I know it sounds Crazy but I Always said that one day we will all dance in the Purple Rain. I love this song!! He poured his Heart out in this song!! And when he just walks off the stage while it was still playing is so that no one would see the impact of the song and how it really did affect him because he was already trying to fit in. But no one knew about what he was going through at home everyday with his Father being abusive to his Mother and him having to step in and make his Father stop. If you have never seen the movie I recommend you see it. But be prepared...You will cry and it will touch your Heart!!
This album / movie version is the live version. It was recorded from a live performance. They then took it too the studio and added the strings and spruced it up for the movie and album. The original is 14 minutes long. Edited it down to 8 minutes, what you saw here.

My dudes I start crying from the first chords, this song means so much to my generation
The sound of my youth way back in the mid 1980ies - I will never forget about the spirit of his music. R.I.P. Prince🙏
