Prince was literally, a musical genius. He played 14 instruments and wrote over 4000 songs that were in his vault when he died. Please do all of his greatest tracks,!!!.. including songs he gave to other singers to record!
I wish I could have seen him live as well and his tickets weren't that expensive. The reason why he owned every part of himself from his likeness to his music so that how he was able to keep prices low for his concerts. I kick myself why didn't I ever see him live. He also gave performances at Paisley Park all the time for free for us his fans. I love Prince so much.
He was one-of-a-kind artist.. vocals, guitar, you name it.. even on the keyboards.. fantastic performer.. and I might add.. Jassy Doll, you are gorgeous.
I saw Prince twice in person first time I saw Him he was that the Cow Palace in San Francisco if I'm correct it in 1985 the second time I saw him at the Oakland Coliseum Arena in Oakland if I'm correct it was in the early 2000
What he says at the beginning of the song that Wendy (the one with the blue guitar) and Lisa (the Keyboard player) wrote the song, actually isn't true. Here's the full story behind the song. The year was 1983 and Prince and the Revolution were wrapping up the "1999" tour when long time guitarist Dez Dickerson told Prince that he was going to leave the band, citing that he found God and wanted to explore other things in life. Prince, class act he was said that he understood and wished him all the best. And to throw him a bone allowed Dez to appear in the "Purple Rain" movie with his solo band Modernaire. But that still presented him with a problem, he needed to find a replacement for Dez to even make a start at what would eventually become the "Purple rain" album. Little did he know that Dez' replacement was already in the band's entourage. Keyboard player Lisa Coleman had brought her then 17 year old Girlfriend Wendy Melvoin along for the tour. So Prince walked passed Lisa's hotel room and heard somebody play these difficult but very lush jazz chords on a guitar. He peered in and there was Wendy, intrigued with what this young girl was capable of, Prince invited her to a band rehearsal, she played along and the fit was so natural that everybody in the band knew that Dez' replacement had been found. So after the band went into the studio to record their next album, Prince went to Wendy "About those jazz chords, you were playing..." at which she picked up her guitar and began to play that chord progression and Prince completely in the creative zone went "keep going..." but after ten minutes or so, she said that she was getting tired and Prince went "No problem, I got this." The next day he brought the rough draft of the song into the rehearsal room (It had an extra verse which he pulled out and the guitar solo lasted longer) as the band were playing the song over and over, they noticed that a homeless lady had snuck in, drawn in by the song. She sat there weeping at the sound and the sentiment of the lyrics. As the band finished playing the song, she got up and walked out, they never saw her again. Prince said that he knew he had gold in his hand when that happened. He had the song which would make him a legend.
it's cool that people especially young peeps will actually get to hear REAL music by REAL muscians, played on REAL musical instruments. Prince's catalog of music is wide and vast with many genres. Funk master, Soul, Rock, whimsical, deep, etheral, sexy you name it. Hope you take the opportunity to actually hear the music and love he put into each of his songs.
He left a lot of musical offspring behind. You can't find an artist who wasn't influenced by him. Mans been gone for 4 years and STILL putting out better music than just about everybody...Freddie Mercury used to study him💜🎸🥁🎹🎼☺
For me this song is about love bigger than your own interests. So big that you let her go when this is what makes her happier, even when it breaks your heart.
Prince was a true artist and performer and loved by millions of people. His song writing and music production was far ahead of most people at that time. There really are no actual artists anymore that have talent.
Purple Rain is the weather at the end of the world. In 1999 he sings ‘the sky was all purple, there were people running everywhere’ in the dream of the end of the world. Purple is made from red (blood) and blue (sky). So Purple Rain is a metaphor for end of the world/the apocalypse/Armageddon etc. The song is about putting past wrongs and arguments aside and uniting through the worst of times. Glad you dug the song, but this is just one flavour of his work. You’ll find pretty much every genre of music in his catalogue, because he did it all. Happy discoveries!!
@@jassydoll Happy to help. It makes me so happy young people are getting into his music and learning what he was all about, it means he’s not really gone and he lives on 4ever 💜
