This was super helpful! I have been putting off copywriting my masters for so long because I didn't know all of the details, but you answered all of my questions and now I can get to work. Thank you !
Hi Ryan, I ran across your Indie Music Channel and am enjoying your content. Your music is terrific! Keep writing, keep performing, keep crushing. Warmest wishes for continued success. -john
Would love to hear your take on International copyright.
O believe it’s the exact same thing, because almost all countries, if not all of them, have intellectual property treaties in a way that you do it in one country and it’s valid everywhere else.
Such invaluable information! Thank you Ryan.
Great info. Dpes the masterclass include guidance for those who live / reside outside of the US?
Good introduction to the subject. Have been registering Copyrights on various projects for over 20 years. Most recent was our new sound recording of our derivative cover of Alanis Morissette's "Uninvited."
Thank you, very well explained!
This was very helpful. Thank you!
Thank you for this information!
Ryan, I have used Suno to generate music for my lyrics that I have written. I have then mixed, edited and remixed the finished music that was generated. Can you do a video about how to copyright these songs?
Good overview. I'm a lyricist and I've used the eCO before to copyright my lyrics. I hope that hasn't changed...😁
Ouahh ❤ so usefull
Forget the USA, what about in the UK?
thx!
This content is so good, thank you for your work
I have a question about youtube content id.
Is there any service out there which collects, both audio and composition rights?
Most distributers only cover the audio part and songtrust for example only covers the composition part.
Am i missing something? I actually would love to solely use just one service for it since i have multiple distributors.
Otherwise i would need to use songtrust youtube content id, aswell as the distributors service for the content id, but can you even do that?
Can you review routenote too?
I like your videos, they are very informative. I am currently working with exclusive and non-exclusive licensed vocals which I turn into songs (I have gathered that the vocal, which contains the melody and lyrics is considered the song). This is almost never covered by people who cover copyright. What am I doing? What should I copyright? Can I only copyright the master recording? Are my songs arrangements? Exclusive contracts make clear the "ownership" rests with the licensee, not just the right to earn royalties. But no doubt the originator of the vocal has already copyrighted the vocal, and.. what if they didnt, how would I know.. does it matter? Am I just making chord progressions? There are chord progressions and there are chord progressions.. one person might just use the same 3 chords that came with the vocal, another may completely reinvent the song spending hours crafting clever progressions with varying sections for verse, prechorus, chorus, bridge etc. creating tension and release in the song. Should I copyright my work as an arrangement? I believe what I do is not simply a meaningless progression of chords, but on the other hand it has meaning only with the vocal, without it it is indeed meaningless. So many questions, and so many videos on the 6 rights that copyright gives you and a total black hole on what people are actually doing these days with vocal licensing. Maybe you could make a video on this subject, and also cover the side issues like not using TH-cam copyright ID on non-exclusive vocal based songs.
Question can i pay 1 fee for more than 10 songs ?
How do you have time to be an artist and still run your academy
Can non US citizens register with the US Copyright Office?

Yes, absolutely! If you’re planning to list, sell, license, share, or further distribute your musical works in the US, on US-selling platform, and/or to US customers, you’re ENCOURAGED to *immediately* register your works with the US Copyright Office.
What if your not a US citizen? Can you still register for copywriter ?
Please answer us?😊
