- When analyzing stocks, you will encounter metrics such as face value, book value, and market value. Although market value is something we are all familiar with, it is important to understand face value and book value. This is because corporate actions are based on or affect these metrics. For example, a stock split reduces the face value, and dividends are based on the face value.
In order to get a sense of the intrinsic value of a stock, you need to understand what book value is.
In this video, we look at the three values and also how the price-to-book to book (P/B ratio) is calculated in Hindi.

I am a science graduate but I take interest in stock markets as well. Your videos are so helpful in clearing the basics and arousing curiosity at the same time. Thanks a ton.
What u doing ?
Same here my background related to computer science but im interested in stock market nower days
Yeah Buddy it is important to all know about investment and money concepts whatever he's or she's background.
I was confused with book value concept but you made it easy.
Thank you very much❤
धन्यवाद,सब कुछ इतने सरल और आसानी से समझाने के लिए🙏🏼
My queries are as follows:
1. Suppose, promoters are investing 100 crores but want to issue only 1 crore shares. Then by formula FV would be 100. Is there a way to keep the value 10 with the same investment and keeping the FV 10. If yes then please discuss.
2. You should have discussed the concept that we don't consider intangible assets in BV calculation, while expanding the example of IT Industries.
Keep it up!
1) If the promoters are keen on issuing 1cr shares only, then there is no way to make FV 10, it will be 100 only.
2) Noted.
The way you explain is beyond the "good".
1. Face value - price at which the promotor gets the stocks of the company.
-Dividend is calculated on the face value.
2. Market value - current market price
3. Book value - value of stock being recorded in the books of the company by doing the calculations involving the company's financials.
P/B Ratio = market price / book value : lesser the better
We compare the P/B ratio of companies within the same sector.

Agr kisi company ki book value jyda hai or Market value kam tho share acha haii ..right?? Pls ans?
Waao very clear and simple.
Iska matalab Jo company premium per trade kr rahi hai usme invest karne ke vajaye Kam CMP wale per kare??
Aur face value Agar CMP se jyada to vo sahi ya galat...
That means in the above example, the company is overvalued as the market price is Rs.250 and the book value is Rs.100. Correct na?
