Watching this video made me nostalgic. I grew up in El Valle de Guadalupe and moved to the USA pursuing the “American dream”. All the while the real dream, was in my very own hometown……I hope to return one day soon and never leave again. ❤
I was born there but raised in the US, have family there, and have always gone at least 4 times a year. It's changed so much, but I love that there is work for the people and that it's developing. I just hope it doesn't get "overdeveloped." ❤ 🇲🇽
@MexicanHinduWifey I know, I get excited when people know where Guadalupe is, let alone are from there. However, I don't know who that this but my Grandfather had a store for years on the main road and later I'm the new part of town across the street from the school & park near the new cemetery. It was called Abarotes Solis. My grandfather was Jose Solis...😉

Thank youuu Jenny ❤️ Honestly food is one of the most direct ways to literally experience a culture. You aren’t looking at some architecture or learning the history of something. It’s tangible and real and also delicious 🤤 And the people are always the best part of any place we visit. Like that time we went to Nuremberg 🫶 xx

Thanks both 🧡 Haha full sausage roll is the only way to go 😉 And yes!! Ben and I were saying the last time we had food experiences like this was back in the east of Turkey 💔 Obviously all that area has been devastated but we made some incredible memories there. In fact, Gaziantep and Antakya was the best food we’ve ever had, anywhere. You’ve made us all nostalgic now 😋🧡

Your wine and foodie adventure looked so awesome, what a beautiful place to explore. It's nice to treat yourselves and indulge once in a great while, right?! I finally got back on the road for a bit. I'm traveling around Arizona. I parked up at an old high school friends place for a few days. We went to this really neat place near Lauglin, Nv. called Grapevine Canyon where it is just loaded with all these petroglyphs. I won't be out on this trip too long as I have to get back and do some paperwork appt.'s. but I am just so enjoying being back out a bit. Hope you get Sophia all fixed up for her next big leg of the journey. Cheers to new adventures.

Always imagined Ben on the dog bed 😂 Such beautiful scenery eh, I’m always hungry after watching an episode lol. Looking forward to next week safe travels
We will be following closely. We live on Vancouver Island and are heading to northern BC, Alaska and the Yukon in July, August and September. Not likely as far as Prudhoe Bay, but we intend on making a dent on the coast! You should seriously consider the ferry from Port Hardy, Vancouver Island to Prince Rupert, then onto the Alaska ferry system.. we did that stretch a few years ago and that is why we are going back, We FOLLOWING CLOSELY.
Hey guys! Thank you for the tip! We might come back that way as we are arriving into Canada through Calgary, then going down the coast in the summer. Maybe we'll cross paths on your way up?! 🧡
Ha thanks Robert. I do have a photo of Ben in a green dress with a blonde wig. Maybe one day the internet can see it but I don't think anyone is prepared 😆
I love your narrations, you mention so many facts about the places you visit. 🥰 All of the food you had looked amazing, especially your time with Ulisses and his wife. They seem very passionate, and knowledgeable about food & cooking, as well as so welcoming & genuine. If I ever go to Baja I definitely want to have that experience. The food looked so good, and you left with so many good things! Bar Andaluz also looks beautiful, I would love to take photos of the architecture and tiles :)
I hope you get to meet Ulisses and his family one day - truly amazing people! Full of fun and life and passion, and they aren't bad cooks either 😉 Bar Andaluz was beautiful, way prettier than we expected! And they made a mean margarita! xx 🍹
Wow. Some fantastic wineries, and great landscape. The food looks so good!!…. Just a heads up (I can’t remember what heating you’ve got in the van) if you’ve a diesel heater, be aware of the inlet/exhaust under van when crossing rivers/any water of depth. Safe travels🤙
Good food and good wine, can’t think of a better way to end Baja 🤤 And yes absolutely, both our engine exhaust and diesel exhaust we need to be careful of. In hindsight we were like - why were we even considering that river, it’s way too deep 🥴🧡
We are loving your adventures! We hope to make to Baja and then Alaska as well. Based on the last video I would like to recommend a stop in Canada’s Wine Capital in Oliver, British Columbia en route to or from Alaska. There are 40 wineries in the area to choose from. Can’t wait for next week’s video!
Ulisses was amazing. It felt like you were visiting family. The winery building was amazing being made from recycled boats. Being tea total the wine was of no interest I'm with Ben. I thought the honey champagne was very interesting,I would be tempted to try a drop. The food throughout the vlog was also next level. Did you leave a sticker for the street stall next to Treads? All the best!
The first thing Ulisses said when we walked in was “welcome home”, and I think that sums up perfectly what it was like! They were an incredible family and so welcoming. Honey champagne was amazing!!! Wish we had it on tap 😂 and no, we didn’t have any stickers on us! Treads is in pride of place there 🧡 xx
Thanks for another awesome video. When I saw the guy shaking the first marguerita it made me want one so badly. They definitely have to be shaken, not stirred. My favourite place in Canada for margueritas is in Calgary in an area called Inglewood. They have some of the best tequila, and my now ex-husband and I used to sit outside in the summer and drink them all day just watching the people walk by. I miss that place. Be safe and hugs from Nova Scotia, Canada. 🇨🇦 🤗 💖
Totally agree! The guy in the second bar didn't even stir it 🥴 I think we might be passing near Calgary on our way north to Alaska. Don't think the weather will be good enough for sitting outside but will keep an eye out for the tequila! xx
@@OverlandingSophia Calgary is one of my least favourite cities in Canada. I moved out there to be with who is now my ex-husband (an old school friend). Banff, Canmore, etc., are much, much nicer. Calgary is insane for traffic.
Loved, loved this excellent vlog. Thank you for sharing your delicious culinary experiences. I’d like to recommend a video I recently viewed - “Gateway to the Arctic- The Famous Canadian Portage You probably never heard of.” The brothers Kyle and Graham are from New Brunswick and this amazing canoe trip was undertaken last Summer. Their parents live in Alma the small community that borders Fundy National Park. So, if you want a break from “Vera” have a look. There are 6 episodes. Until next week. 💕💕💕💕Safe journeys. ❤🇨🇦
What a wonderful epicurean episode! Most Baha vanlife videos are 100% street tacos, you guys added an interesting new food dimension. Were the places you visited expensive?
Epicurean! Love that! The wineries were around $35 for the tasting but that was including the cheeseboard. You could just go and have a glass of wine without the tasting. The restaurant was fairly pricey, European/US prices for sure. I think it was $120 for the both of us with three courses, wine and drinks. But the best experience of them all, the cooking class with Ulisses was only $30 each. No moths in our wallet after this week! 😃 🧡
@@OverlandingSophia I had to Google how to spell epicurean. The cooking class was excellent, the chef hand filling the salt bottle was magical, more of that kind of thing please.
Made me hungry looking at you gobbling all that delicious food 😋 Me and t'other half were chatting about what an amazing life Scout (and River obviously) are having with you - how different his life would’ve been if he’d remained a street dog in Turkey. Would he even still be alive 🤔 You have 2 adorable dogs to share your travels with. Look after each other 12 legs 😀 xx
Haha sorry not sorry, it was as delicious as it looked! 😋 We don’t think Scout would have survived the winter. He was already covered in mange with no fur on his ears or his back legs. He was so skinny and the winters in Halfeti are brutal. Then on top of that, the earthquake destroyed the town we found him. A different world now for that little guy, he’ll never go cold or hungry again 🐶 xx
@@OverlandingSophia one of the most amazing stories I’ve ever heard 😍 I really think you should’ve named him 'Lucky!' I remember you finding him and the relationship that developed, and how you just couldn’t move on without him. I’d just forgotten what a sorry state he was in. Take good care of each other xx
Very interesting, didn't know the extent of the wine business in Baja, food is always good, I have never had a bad meal in Baja. Hope the weather breaks in US for you, they have had a lot of snow, especially in the mountains, even LA on the beach. Safe travels, see you next Sunday.
It's actually the oldest wine region in the Americas, older than Chile and Argentina! 90% of Mexico's wines come from this little valley. Crazy eh?! The weather in San Diego is looking good for this week thankfully, but we're going to be chasing the winter north for a while 🥶
The chef was great, looks like you got on really well in his kitchen, Ben and he could be brothers if we didn't already know both with a positive and sunny attitude :-)
…k, ready to peel a lemon and add to some quality evoo…huge yum to honey sparkling wine and excellent company…how fun…now starved and filling my molcajete -thx for inspo ❤️‼️❤️‼️
Hey Guys.. I can’t believe it’s been a week already, the time flies! Anyway, hope you’re all well. The scenery there is amazing, but wine 🍷 is not my cup of tea. River crossings worry me, good choice to walk and check first. I pretend I’m civilised every day but really just want to watch TH-cam 😂😂. “Bit of a corker” 😂😂. Wow that wine was explosive out of the bottle 👌. I’m with Ben, wine is lost on me too! 😂😂”Pisshead” had me lol.. the restaurant looks great! River is so nice, look at her face.. 😍. I love trying new foods and maybe may some food classes one day. I tried making pasta on my own once, I felt cannelloni 😂😂😂👍.. what a great man. Living your best lives, I absolutely adore it! I’m a foodie and I’m always eating so me too would have to be rolled across the border. Never had a margarita to be honest. But the buildings are great to look at. Anyway, have a good week ahead. Bye guys!
If you’re a foodie you’ll absolutely love Mexico Mark, the food is out of this world and there is so much of it! Wash it down with a margarita and you’re all set 😍 xx
@@markplenty2631 Hahah yes! Always love them. The Annette and Rod one from when Ben was fishing was our favourite one 😂 Hope you and your dad are having a lovely Sunday. Roast?
@@OverlandingSophia absolutely, we had roast pork and my sister came too. She didn’t stay for your video but it was good. At some points I had to walk Pasta.. 😂😂
WOW !!! I’d really love to learn to make some Venezuelan dishes AND eat them. Who knew Baja had a wine vineyards 😳. When you two were trying some of the wine, your faces that you made cracked me up.😂. Smiles all through your vlog. Have fun and be safe!!!!
Hahah right?! Eating them is the best part 😂 Yep we never knew Baja had such a vibrant wine scene until we came here. And it's so beautiful here too. Hope you're keeping well Starr, love from all of us 🧡
Part 2 😁 Great Roman joke Ben 👏 👍 You pair should know by now, all the best places are down the longest rough track. Bit like the beach. Did not know about there wines. Oh dear wine jokes 🙄 🤣 I'd be definitely stocking up with olive oil and wonderful salt, looked so good. I'm never buying shop salt again cuz it's full of plastic. Right I'm off to find some fine flour and egg 😋 Keep Loving the Adventure Both. Love and Hugs ❤
And make sure to use an old wine bottle as a rolling pin! 😛 So glad you enjoyed this one, and you're right about the rough roads! Although these Mexican ones are going to do some damage to poor Sophia if we're not careful! Totally agree on the shop salt, over processed and full of sh*t. Hope you're doing well, sending love and hugs from all of us xx 💕
There is a bar in Tijuana that claims they made the original Margarita ..lol.. Not sure how one would go about verifying this. Guess just do like you and see which one taste the best ..:)
Have to admit, we've been a little distracted lately, so fell behind with your videos. Sadly, we had to hit the road and head to a garage in Ecuador for some major repairs. But it means we'll have time to catch up. Reminiscing about Baja will be a nice distraction i. the evenings when we aren't fixing Ruby 😊

Hola👋from New Mexico🌶️🌵...yummy . What a great video.🤗 I have a 3 dog night. Two will stand at the end of my bed and whine until they are invited. Angels all around you and the fur babies and Sophia. 🙏💖🤗
Love that you are covering this gorgeous region, but please, please learn the proper name. Its El Valle de Guadalupe, not Guadaloop. 😉 There are a lot of amazing places to see, eat and drink, hope you all get a chance to visit.
@@OverlandingSophia lol, that facial expression left absolutely no doubt 😂 still, 20 years out of uni, if someone handed me that glass with those words, I’d go “alright” and neck the stuff on principle
Love seeing the foods in these places, street food always seems to outshine restaurants 😍 Sad the Mexican Baja journey is over so quick, didn't you wish to travel south a bit more across the Americas, or is it a visa thing? I don't think I could travel the US, watching travellers it always appears to be more about miles and miles of driving.
Yes!! Street food is always the best 🤤 Oh wow, okay. So this is our big trip (we did discuss this a few videos back but you might have missed it). We're doing the Pan American Highway this year, so we'll be driving up to Alaska to pick it up in Prudhoe Bay on the Arctic Ocean. Then we'll be heading back down the Pacific Coast Highway and then all the way through Mexico, Latin America and into South America, finishing in Ushuaia, Argentina. When we shipped the van to Canada in August, we didn't have enough time to reach Alaska due to weather windows. So we drove through the southern States and spent the winter in Baja, ready to start to the trip to the Pan American in Spring. You're right about the driving though. The USA is HUGE and the distances are massive, so you do have to drive a lot if you want to see a lot. But hopefully you'll enjoy following our trip north as we aren't just going to be driving in each video but exploring awesome places as we head north. We're really excited about this part of the trip, feels like our big adventure is finally happening! 🧡 🗺️
So! Whoever the made those windshield suction cup accessories owes you a sponsorship. Cause I wanna know what the hell they are. The two I tried won't stick to anything lmao
Enjoyed your travels in Baja -- a part of Mexico which is not often highlighted. Watch out for the snow in California --wow, what a sight to see that much snow there -- even here in Canada we don't get that much all at once! Our family is planning a road trip this summer in the Yukon -- heading up the Dempster Highway to Inuvik and then the Arctic Ocean. This is considered one of the most spectacular road trips in Canada. Lots of wildlife to be seen but make sure you prepare for it.
Ah that’s going to be amazing! We thought about doing the Dempster but as we want to do the full Pan American, we’re going to do Prudhoe Bay instead. Hope you guys have an incredible time, it’s going to be the trip of a lifetime 🙌🧡
@@OverlandingSophia You might want to check out access to Prudhoe Bay. One traveller said access to the Arctic Ocean was blocked because of the oil facilities there. I could be wrong on that. You will love the Yukon!
@@cathygillies7271 Yes the downside with Prudhoe is that we need to take a tour to get to the Arctic Ocean, which is a shame. But as it’s the official start of the PA we don’t want to miss it 🙌
Too many tourists just visit the popular places. But a good 40% travel off the beaten track. So if you watch follow more rounded TH-camr’s you’ll discover more appealing and interesting destinations and culture.

Hahah love it, we’ve had our fill of amazing food here for sure. Gives us something to taco boat eh 🥴 xx 🧡
Always imagined Ben on the dog bed 😂
Such beautiful scenery eh, I’m always hungry after watching an episode lol. Looking forward to next week safe travels
Hahah Scouts bed is one of the comfiest in the van if you’re in the know 😂🧡
Cinema, wine and dominoes))) Nice sunny video. Have a good further travels to you.
Thank you Sergei, ended Mexico on a high, and with very full bellies! 🧡
This was an AMAZING 👏🏼 video!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THANK YOU!!! So glad you enjoyed it 🥰
Another great week. You made me feel really hungry. The food looked delicious. Stay safe and 💕for River and Scout.
Thanks Jillian, Mexico knows how to do food, we haven't even scratched the surface! Sending love from Baja xx 🧡
I love empanadas… another great video guys
They’re so good! Can confirm they taste 100x better fresh out the fryer 😍🙌
This whole video reminded me of capadoccia video, full of rich cultural experiences.
Yeees! Me too! Minus the naked-ness and awesome convoy 🧡
Chess in a dress looks goegeous...and Ben ......well what can I say....great vlog,,, loved it!!!!!!
She's such a babe isn't she 🥰
now Ben in a dress would be hillarious......LOL
Ha thanks Robert. I do have a photo of Ben in a green dress with a blonde wig. Maybe one day the internet can see it but I don't think anyone is prepared 😆
Beautiful place!
We think so too! The wine and good food helps 🤤🧡
🇨🇦
Sounds like my kinda stop! 🥂 Thanks for the heads up. And happy travels to Baja and Alaska 🚐 💨 xx
Calgary is insane for traffic.
my wine girl love the video thanks for sharing
Loved, loved this excellent vlog. Thank you for sharing your delicious culinary experiences. I’d like to recommend a video I recently viewed - “Gateway to the Arctic- The Famous Canadian Portage You probably never heard of.” The brothers Kyle and Graham are from New Brunswick and this amazing canoe trip was undertaken last Summer. Their parents live in Alma the small community that borders Fundy National Park. So, if you want a break from “Vera” have a look. There are 6 episodes. Until next week. 💕💕💕💕Safe journeys. ❤🇨🇦
Sounds right up our street, thanks for the recommendation Brenda! We passed through Alma when we were in New Brunswick. WIll add it to the list 🥰 xx
Great informative vlog 👍💙❤️
Thank you 🥰 xx
Looks like you had fantastic food & drink experiences & it was all such a feast for the eyes as well! Thanks for a great video ! Sue + 🐶 🐶
Thank you Sue 🙌 It was a feast for the senses this week 😋 xx
Fabulous vlog stay safe guys❤️❤️❤️
Thank you 🥰 xx
@@NigelBallard Absolutely, we'll do our best. He was such a legend! Him and his brother hand harvested that salt from the Sonoran desert. 😍
If you like wine you need to come through the Okanagan valley in BC Canada on your way up to Alaska.
Consider it on the list! Around the world in 80 wines 🥂🙌
Crazy eh?! The weather in San Diego is looking good for this week thankfully, but we're going to be chasing the winter north for a while 🥶
@@OverlandingSophia Looking forward to seeing you back in Canada soon ( B.C) safe travels
Careful down there, bad things happening .
It’s okay, we’re a long, long way from that state. No one in their right mind would go anywhere near there. Awful what’s happened 😢
The chef was great, looks like you got on really well in his kitchen, Ben and he could be brothers if we didn't already know both with a positive and sunny attitude :-)
Ah he was awesome! Felt like part of the family ✨
…k, ready to peel a lemon and add to some quality evoo…huge yum to honey sparkling wine and excellent company…how fun…now starved and filling my molcajete -thx for inspo ❤️‼️❤️‼️
Oh yes!! And make sure to add some chunky cloves of garlic in there too 😋 Have to admit I had to Google 'Molcajete' but now I really want one 😂 xx
Just yummy 🪰🍷 protein packed ceviche 🥴 Sending love ❤❤❤❤
At least it was free?! 🥴
@@OverlandingSophia 😂 Somewhere they must be a delicacy 🪰🪰🪰🥢🤔🤢🤮
@@OverlandingSophia thanks for the tip, did you like my pasta joke just above the end? Me and father really enjoyed this episode. Xx
@@markplenty2631 😂😂 They never end!
Very nice 👌
Thank you 🥰
Another wonderful video. Now I want a margarita!! After all, "wine not"? 😉
Haha tequila might not be the answer, but it’s worth a shot 🥴😋
@@OverlandingSophia Haha, I see what ya did there...😉
A hotly contested title by the sounds of it! We’ll happily taste test them all 😋🧡

Nothing wrong with a little nap... thought it was funny watching Scout looking at you in his bed!! Lol
Hahah he didn't seem impressed 🙈 🧡
Have to admit, we've been a little distracted lately, so fell behind with your videos.
Sadly, we had to hit the road and head to a garage in Ecuador for some major repairs. But it means we'll have time to catch up.
Reminiscing about Baja will be a nice distraction i. the evenings when we aren't fixing Ruby 😊
Ah no worries guys, you’ve had more than enough on your plate! Hope the repairs go well and that you’re back on the road before you know it 🧡🙌
@@OverlandingSophia Ruby is now on the ramp and Willow and I have dropped the engine and the gearbox.
We've started well.
We're in Baja are you now? When you get to the South, let us know. You should visit our friends ranch out in the desert where we isolated during the pandemic.

He's not dramatic or anything 😂
Love that you are covering this gorgeous region, but please, please learn the proper name. Its El Valle de Guadalupe, not Guadaloop. 😉 There are a lot of amazing places to see, eat and drink, hope you all get a chance to visit.
“Tastes like pre-drinks at uni” has got to be the most ambiguous drink critique/endorsement of all time 😂
Hahaha hopefully you know EXACTLY what I mean 😂 Lime juice laced with rocket fuel, or paint stripper.
@@OverlandingSophia lol, that facial expression left absolutely no doubt 😂 still, 20 years out of uni, if someone handed me that glass with those words, I’d go “alright” and neck the stuff on principle
🖤
Love seeing the foods in these places, street food always seems to outshine restaurants 😍
Sad the Mexican Baja journey is over so quick, didn't you wish to travel south a bit more across the Americas, or is it a visa thing?
I think we just picked them up off Amazon, not even sure if they’re branded!
🧡💛
But as it’s the official start of the PA we don’t want to miss it 🙌
You know the old saying. No wine before you puddle jump for miles. Lol.
Well, gotta be honest that's not one we've heard before 😂 xx
Too many tourists just visit the popular places. But a good 40% travel off the beaten track. So if you watch follow more rounded TH-camr’s you’ll discover more appealing and interesting destinations and culture.
