My sister-in-law kept saying she was seeing a LEGO-looking truck. I had no idea what she was talking about until she screamed ‘there it is’ one day while driving home from Jungle Jim’s. My ears are still bleeding.
@@Eviedish All manner of things are possible in cartoons. Imagination leads innovation. This EV was re, imagined they went further than others. Bravo 👏

That Rivian is so well thought out. They even put a large enough cubbyhole to stick a few stuffed pink ponds in there. 😂 Yes, I do like the Rivian. Now I'm going to have to go to their website to build one to show to my wife. 11:55
The Rivians are vehicles i never get tired of seeing. They are innovative and perfect for the active lifestyle/outdoorsman types. I really hope the company makes it as I just enjoy seeing them on the road. I would put my money where my mouth is, but even the base price is far outside my reach. Hopefully, the R2 series is a bit closer to my budget while maintaining the same appeal.
Thanks for the review! I've been considering buying one of these (dual motor version). Yeah, the Cybertruck was a big flip and Elon hasn't admitted it yet.
I think long range (here large battery pack) is a red herring for almost everyone, with the caveat “if you have the ability to charge at home.” This is probably difficult to intuit or believe until you’ve owned EVs, but it’s true.
I like how you review this as a family- your wife driving, your daughter climbing in and out. PLEASE give your daughter a mic for her on-camera comments. I appreciate the reviews
It does sometimes feel like they’re trying too hard to be a 4WD Patagonia vest, but my biggest worry is for their survival. Because overall it is a really compelling product but I’m afraid that they won’t be around long enough to fulfill any warranty claims.
I'm so glad I got mine at the intro Price, quad, and extra features, all with the 7,500 tax rebate. Yes, I'm bragging. BUT you really gotta take into account the MUCH bigger insurance price tag that comes with it.
That is a problem. They should engineer in some drainage to that cavity. Dirt isn't really a problem because I don't really think these are meant to haul loose soil, but the roadsalt? If there is a cavity it can build in, it will find it and eat your car inside out. Amazing how many vehicles I've seen (including some of my own) where the paint looks prestine until you poke a finger through it, and the rust that used to be sheetmetal underneath. Rockers on those old S10 Blazers were good for that.
As an owner of one who’s had it for more than 2 days, I can do all of this in 20 seconds…..but…why would I since it’s saved to my profile when I set it up. And yeah I know it doesn’t have an AM radio but FM and HD radio is plenty and you can always use TuneIn for specific stations anyway. sorry but no one (that I know) that owns one is pining for an AM radio dial.
One cup holder for whatever I'm drinking now, the other for whatever I was drinking yesterday and forgot to remove. When we hit bottle 3 rolling around on the floor is when all 3 come out, hate loose things on the floor.
Coasting would be more efficient in a very light vehicle such as an ebike. These direct drive motors have a tiny bit of overhead but it is overall more efficient. It also saves you money on brakes.
Talking to Audi recently, they are adamant that coasting is the more efficient approach in their vehicles. It's fascinating to see different manufacturers take radically different approaches.
But you don’t need those things at all. You can’t navigate a charging route with either of those options. It’s far better to use the in car Nav because it’s connected to the cars batteries and other systems. Everything else you just use your phone for anyways - which is what CarPlay is in the end.
According to CR, but they don't reveal their methodology. And Rivian has the #1 Customer Satisfaction rating, which lines up more with what I hear from actual customers.
The interior, profile and rear end design is great but the front end design is grotesque enough to sway me from buying it. Maybe gen 2 will be the ticket🤷🏻♂️
There is not a chance in hell that they’re changing the front look of the vehicle. It is iconic and if you looked at the R2 and RV reveal, you would realize that they are all the same in the front.
@@EviedishNot sure if the Rivian guys would approve ... then again I have it on good authority that Snuffy enjoys rock crawling, so it could be a match made in heaven
Coasting is not more efficient. If you coasted you'd lose all that opportunity to regenerate power. The regenerative braking takes a few days to get used to, but I *much* prefer the regenerative one-pedal driving experience now .
If your intention is to slow down, then of course you’re absolutely right it’s more efficient to regen and convert the kinetic energy back into electrical energy for use later rather than using the friction brakes to generate heat. I think I know what Micah was trying to say though. For example if coasting gets you to exactly where you want to be, like if the vehicle would roll and naturally run out of momentum at a red light, using regen means you’d stop short of the light and you’d have to accelerate a little to get to the light, you’d end up using a bit more energy because the kinetic to electrical conversion and vice versa have losses. I know it’s a specific scenario but I think that’s what Micah had in mind. Also to your point, you can still coast with one-pedal drive, you just have to find that exact point in the accelerator travel. It takes some skill and getting used to though.
Not at all. I have my regen set to high 100% of the time and MUCH prefer the feel of regenerative one-pedal driving now. When I drive and have to coast an ICE vehicle, it feels weird to me now and much more inconvenient having to move back and forth between two pedals.
Some cool features but too much like Tesla (no coast, no blended braking, tablet on wheels). Evie's cactus top makes the video completely worth the time though.

At one million subscribers, their daughter gets her own microphone. At that time, the microphone manufacturer will offer a clipless handheld option.
Fan of the rivian brand their overall design and fun little functional quirks.

Functional? Adjust the heat to legs only, then adjust the mirrors, then change the radio to your favorite AM sports radio station. Go (timer starts…)!

I'm curious. Why would two people find "only two cupholders up front" a problem?
I can take this one. Probably not an issue for “daily,” but my wife and I often each have a coffee and a water bottle. 4 vessels for two people.

I wish they would offer a cheaper version of this. That's the problem with electric vehicles, it's all or nothing.
