@@nidahaider292 For the writing, there are guidelines. Rewatch IELTS ADVANTAGE videos on writing, then you are good to go
Take advice with a grain of salt. The summary is just a summary; the video gives applicable advice.
Don’t do :
1. Don’t use fake sample essays.
2. Don’t passively read essays and expect anything.
3. Don’t try to rate the essays and figure out why you’re better.
4. Don’t look for things to copy.
5. Don’t copy and paste the essay onto your exam.
Do (work on the techniques you are weak on):
1. Cover up the essay. Try to come up with relevant ideas for the question. 8:54
- Compare your ideas and the essay’s. If your ideas are similar you are probably on the right track. (Of course, if they are different that does not necessarily mean your ideas are bad.)
2. Develop the ideas. 10:55
3. Think about what structure the essay used. 12:30
4. Improving coherence and cohesion. 15:24
5. Identify mistakes in the essay. 17:05
- Think about why these mistakes were made and identify what kind of mistakes they are.
6. Think about the grammatical structures and tenses used. 18:00
7. This point is non-existent lol.
8. Identify vocabulary / collocations you are unsure about and try to guess their meanings based on the context. 19:33

Hey Chris, I just received my results and wanted to come here and thank you for everything.
I only needed a band 6 in writing but scored 7.5 bands with 8 bands overall. I wasn’t expecting this much (in writing) as my writing task 2 was about something I didn’t know much of, my heart sank when I first read the question as it seemed a little too complex, but then I remembered what you said in one of your YT videos, something like “there is no topic in the test you know nothing about, have faith in whatever knowledge you have” as well as “it’s an english test, they won’t check your knowledge, don’t overcomplicate this”. It helped me quickly calm myself down and come up with two very simple yet relevant points for my essay (very dumb and obvious ones) and just explain them with easy examples! I just made sure my opinion was crystal clear throughout the paragraphs and gave my best.
