Welcome to the evil that is Sandy Frank. He took the FIRST and SIXTH episodes of the Mighty Jack television series and sandwiched them together to make what this...mess...is. I mean....the original 13 episode series wasn't great...but Sandy Frank makes everything ten times worse.
Sandy Frank has to have spent millions on therapy after MST3K. There's no single person that have continuously unloaded both barrels on. I love every one of these shows with SF.

I also prefer Joel, but Mike was great too, especially in his first season. What brought the Mike era down had more to do with Trace leaving. Without him it wasn't as good anymore. While still good, something was missing.
I fulley agree. For along time i didnt watch anything but joel. Then a few older movies made me watch them. But joels super dry voice ...mono toned delivery of everything he says makes it so good.

6:44 - When the movie began, I thought it was from the 50s. But the copyright shown is MCMLXXXVI, 1986! When I looked the movie up, it was apparently released in 1968, which would be MCMLXVIII. This is deeply disturbing, and not in a nice way.
This episode makes a lot of "worst" lists but I really like it and cue it up fairly frequently. I do admit that it's a good episode to fall asleep to, though.

Sandy Frank was notoriously ignorant, dumb and lazy. He took Japanese TV shows and strung completely unrelated episodes together and called it a movie. Worse yet, his dubbing was the laziest attempt ever at a translation. Nothing compares. For comparison, "Warning from Space" is a movie that was excellently dubbed.

They spend the first half trying to save some dude who randomly becomes their boss, and then the second half obsessing with unmeltable ice and they never explain why the ice matters. They don't even explain WTF mighty Jack means, in the last half hour 1 of the unrecognizable characters says "activate the mighty Jack." It's something related to their knockoff thunderbirds plane but they just don't even try to explain that. This film is genuinely insane.
If I could pick any four episodes to be in one volume so I could buy them all at once, this is one of them. I mean... "Toast is ready, sir." "I said dry toast." "Daryl Gates, David Gates, and bread- there's the toast thing again." Seen this episode a dozen times, and that still hasn't gotten old.

I just now noticed one of the actors in this(at least one that I recognize) is also in a childhood favorite show of mine the original Ultraman aka Ultraman Hayata. which makes sense as theyre produced by the same people(no not Sandy Frank I mean same Japanese people who did the "special effects")
