I love this scene! I was so glad that the rest of the people supported Kim's courage to do it even though she knew she was terrible, rather than judge her like Julianne had hoped. The whole point of Karaoke is to have fun, even though the singers aren't pros. The funniest part is that Diaz apparently can really sing. She just got cast in the musical Annie.
I love this scene because I actually get it now! How Michael lovingly stares at her through out the song because she is not perfect and she actually tried to sing for everyone! He loves her for her! :)
I love the scene 'cause apparently the director saw 'The Mask' and thought that it was Cameron's real voice in that movie, so he went around telling people how good her singing voice was. When it came to shooting this scene no one had heard her sing before and they were expecting something different- those were real reactions. Priceless.
This scene perfectly illustrates why Kimmy was right for Michael, she was never afraid to express her love for him. To be truly vulnerable and not self-serving. Jules went into a panic trying to show Michael the letter, when she'd spent the entire day right next to him..she chose to scheme instead of risk her pride. I'm pretty sure he knew exactly how she felt because he'd felt the same way for years, but he could no longer wait for her.
I like how she can’t help but to respect her. She’s not this perfect woman that she needs to overcome but just as human as anyone else. He loves her for her, and the fact that he’s able to be like “that was terrible!” Is so cute and shows they truly love one another haha
Jules didn't expect the kindness and encouragement of the crowd, and she's not happy her plan backfired... but towards the end of the scene you can see that what she really hates is that she is impressed by Kimmy. That the woman is genuinely decent, and Jules could truly like her if she let herself. But that very last part, where Michael remembers the qualities that drew him to Kimmy in the first place before Jules showed up, and he kisses her? That is the slap-in-the-face that reminds Jules why she has to hate Kimmy; because she just might win the game she doesn't even know she's playing.
My older siblings used to watch this on repeat when I was a kid, but I obviously didn't understand the movie. The song's been randomly stuck in my head though, so this aha moment is so refreshing..... Literally listening to this for the first time in 20 smtn years 😂
the first time i heard of this song is in this movie. i honestly thought the real song sounds like this. then, i heard the real one, i'm like, "the heck? the movie one is better"..lol
Love this scene. Reminds me of what Roger Ailes said in his book "You Are The Message" about Judy Garland. In her later years, she could not perform well because of age, alcohol and drugs. Her magic was that the audience identified with her. Ailes writes, "If you can get the audience to pull for you, you'll always win. After all, audience are just like you. They're human. They care. They're sympathetic. They're supportive. The audience wants you to succeed."
Did you know Cameron Diaz didnt want to do this scene. This scene actually gave her emotional trauma. She absolutely hated filming it. It was on her documentary
I love this scene! I wached it today. It made me laugh so much ;) An when she started singing somebody shouted "Sucks!" And look at Julia Robert's look! Great movie.
Diana was not so innocent. I'm so sick of people thinking she was blameless. She could be manipulative and a bitch, too. She often went after married men and used the media to smear the father of her children. In fact, after she died, it was revealed that she had a complicated relationship with the press. In other words, she utilized them when it was advantageous to her, but she resented their intrusion when they weren't wanted.
The Diaz character did not fight for the mike. She was involuntarily set up to fail. She was an innocent victim of petty jealousy. Good natured empathy for her was warranted. Contrast this with egotistical would be singers who torture others with their caterwauling. I never boo them of course. I applaud politely. But can listeners be faulted for muttering to themselves, "Boy that stunk!"

Julianne is a brat
That vibrato must have hurt her vocal chords then!!! Pretending not to know how to sing when you actually can is painful!
Tooo rite
That moment when it occurs to you that: "Holy shit; I'm rooting for Kimmy!"
I love this scene because I actually get it now! How Michael lovingly stares at her through out the song because she is not perfect and she actually tried to sing for everyone! He loves her for her! :)

Michael's fiancee, Kimmy thinks she has a talent for singing but is sadly mistaken.
She knew she could not sing and tried to get out of it.But She got up and sang anyways
Emma Julia Roberts knows it's real love
I think he was shocked at first then was amazed how she turned it around to being fun in the end.
The crowd realized she loved him so much and they responded. She did enjoy the song at the end
"Terrible! Terrible!" Haha, the way he looks at her though, just in awe that she tried :) love this scene
The Power of a pure heart
Kimmie is adorable and cute.. Child at heart and very sweet.💕
angela cheong that's me her character reminds me of me.
And then she went psycho stalker in Vanilla Sky lol

None would choose Jules instead of Kim
I love how her evil plan back fires so badly lol! 😆
I gotta say Cameron looks perfect in that outfit.

This made me smile involuntarily☺It's just so sweet. What a beautiful moment. This is why My Best Friend's Wedding is one of my all-time favourites.
2.25 - Michael's eyes!😂 the way he looks at her priceless! I wish my fiance (husband) so looked at me always!🤗💑💕
You can try to knock a person down 10.000 times but someone will always love her/him
AND HE LOVED HER FOR HERSELF AND ONLY HERSELF ~ So lovely!
Diaz looked gorgeous in the 90's, in this movie, There's Something About Mary, and The Mask, she was a stunner in that
i like this better than the original. the off notes and nerves of diaz's character make the song more hilarious
This is so romantic. I felt bad for the best friend even though she was jealous but you gstta feel bad for her. But it ends perfectly. Great story.
It doesn’t ends good.
I was not happy with the end, I don’t know I hated it hahaha

I melt at 2:49. That cute look she does when she says "...just waiting for yoouuu" 😫❤️😭
The second hand embarrassment was real in this scene
My older siblings used to watch this on repeat when I was a kid, but I obviously didn't understand the movie. The song's been randomly stuck in my head though, so this aha moment is so refreshing..... Literally listening to this for the first time in 20 smtn years 😂

Cameron Diaz is adorable in this scene.
Great writing
One of the beautiful songs of the movie soundtracks♥️
The eyes, hermano, ther never lie.
Anytime I sing & the dogs howl, I play this song & feel better about myself again.
When you remember that Cameron is actually a decent singer in real life lol
Did you know Cameron Diaz didnt want to do this scene. This scene actually gave her emotional trauma. She absolutely hated filming it. It was on her documentary
Adoro esta cena. Perfeita.
This is the moment when he decided which woman he wanted.
Cameron ...en la Máscara y aquí me ENCANTABAAA

Eu amo essa cena aaaaaaa
Simon Cowell should marry this one.
Simon: You sound like dog laying an egg!!
so freaking charming!
Moral of the story: When you’re hot, people forgive your flaws.
Ditto. My best friend sings like an angel but she is a 🚽, as for looks

2:07 came here from the ending of cinemasins video of “beauty and the beast” with Emma Watson
My life in 2020 is this song
Love this!!
Cameron Diaz can actually sing, so that must’ve been properly difficult and shows how good of an actress she is.
Singing bad on purpose can hurt you if done too long, yeah it’s difficult
That take guts! That's love 💖
I love this scene! I wached it today. It made me laugh so much ;)
An when she started singing somebody shouted "Sucks!" And look at Julia Robert's look! Great movie.
i've listened to this before i heard the original one and i gotta say this one is way better.
The funniest Scene in this lovely Film!!!
This is so cute
Totally doing this!
J'adore cette scène 😍😍😍
They're not applauding her singing skills- they're applauding her having the cajones the size of the Grand Canyon. Bravo, Kimmie!

She did a great job

Still better than Justin Bieber.
Hell...a 'fart' coming out of an asshole...is BETTER than Justin Bieber!
True, lol.
Steve Trowbridge - and yet he makes millions per each snide remark. What an unfair world!
Does anyone else wish that there was a full version of the person doing "I am Women" somewhere or is that just me?
It is Laugh out load funny
...She's so damn sweet
Julia Roberts plays a villain perfectly.
i need full movie link. annyone please give me
This is where I realize Jules is the villain in the movie. One of her ditches to embarrass Kimmy but didn't happen as much as she wanted to 😂
going to the mOOOOOOOOOVieeeeeZZZ
This is me 😂
iconic
This movie reminds me of the too crowded relationship between diana, Charles & the witch Camila. Camila is Julia Roberts, Diana is Cameron Diaz.
Diana was not so innocent. I'm so sick of people thinking she was blameless. She could be manipulative and a bitch, too. She often went after married men and used the media to smear the father of her children. In fact, after she died, it was revealed that she had a complicated relationship with the press. musicaltheatergeek79 Are you Camila?
Diana cheated on charles too. They were Never meant for each other.
How do I remember watching this scene so vividly but not this movie?
That's me on karaoke night! xD
happens only in movies......but great moment!!

Cameron Diaz and Rupert Everett are Fiona and Prince Charming in disguise
Люблюшечка.
Она такая милашка
My girlfriend sings kinda like this! she's so cute
The best Scenes in My Best Friend's Wedding 1997 is when Julia phones George her friend at his Home
Cameron Díaz is terrible singing, but she is lovely 😂😂👏👏
PLANNING EVERYTHING FOR TWO :)
A kim cantando me lembra demais minha amiga valentina
Tara Duncan ve la película y quizá sepas el porque de esta muy chingona escena
pmsfl love this still makes me laugh
Лапуня моя маленькая.Ничего не бойся.
Me trying to sing my friend's favorite song. I think a fight broke out while I was singing. lol
Girl, I will chug a bottle of whiskey at the karaoke bar and belt out the worst rendition of, "Into The Night!"
