I'm impressed with how well it ran with a 13x6.
I remember when these engines first came out. I had gotten my hands on a Saito .80 and was running it on a test stand at the club field. Same prop. a 13x6. This guy came up and asked me to help him run his new engine. Turned out it was one of these .56alphas. He also had a 13x6 prop which I thought was too large for a .56 but he said thats what the manual told him so I didn't question it. Imagine my surprise when it out turned my Saito .80 after about three tanks of fuel. Talk about scalding the dew off the lily.
OS.55AX is another engine that recommends a 13x6 and runs surprisingly well with it. Seems like it would be too much prop, but it is not. 10,000 rpm
The OS FS alpha 56 is a very powerful engine, 9800rpm with 13x6 propeller. Max rpm of my ASP FS61AR with a smaller 13x5 propeller is only 8730 rpm.
it likes that 15% fuel.runs very well. I bought the os fs 60 open rocker on ebay. came today and of course, bearings bad. changed them.runs great and quiet.
These Alphas are really powerful. We have a FS81a on our field that turns props that are usually for 120 4-strokes. I was thinking that this is a 120 until I had a closer look. Regarding the performance increase the OS Alpha engines are really worth the extra money but this performance gain is not necessary in every application.
