Another fun video to watch, my friend. I have an observation, and a suggestion. I noticed the fuel level in the tank was different for almost every run. When you ran the OS "F" glow plug, it was practically running on fumes. Certainly, the amount of fuel in the tank creates a "head pressure" and in particular when there is no muffler pressure tap forcing the pressurization of the tank. The idea should be, in my opinion anyway, to keep everything as consistent as possible. So to that end, the fuel tank level should be the same for every glow plug test. Simply draw a line on the tank with a Sharpie ink pen. Say perhaps, at the 1/3rd level. Then refill the tank to that level before running a different glow plug. Just a thought, as I said. Cheers!

Thank you very much for your comment ! Yes, sure, my fault. Next test will be provided with your notes in mind. Sure, that fuel pressure will play significant role, to grant carb be fueled, specially increased the fuel tank level, for such an engines, which using only simple exhaust tube. Should also share with you my additional thoughts about OS FS 60 behavior.
First, OS FS 60 really doesn't like to keep stable idling speed, which is lower, than 2,5L RPM's, doesn't matter, what plug is installed. At second, fuel metering barrel rotates too freely, very hard to keep it in one position. In addition, it has some horizontal "play", which also affect on engine speed. And last, and that is important - OS highly recommends to run engine with 5-10% Nitro, at least. I was checked this recommendation, and with 10% Nitro engine's behavior was changed significantly, it becomes more flexible. Anyhow, testing on FAI fuel was promised, to achieve comparable results, so I will continue with this conditions.
Thank you for your advices, have a nice day !

      @crazyengines88 hi
A solution to the side play in any carburettor..pull the barrel out and carefully pull the spring apart a little, or in some cases i like to get spring from a pen and cut a piece of that to add to the existing spring in the carb..sometimes the spring is not good enough and while running a engine the carb barrel can alternate and disturb smooth running..
Take a look at my channel with asp ft160 converted to gas with slightly modified glow carb, its not the greatest vid ..but that engine runs real smoothly..
Im yet to see your next video of a saito fa182td? Or possibly the fg41ts..i need to get me one of either 😁

@@danielhitchens4407 Thank you very much for your comment and advices ! Will check this and will use it next test runs. So simple and for sure, so effective. Great, much appreciated ! Saito FA 182 TD is in the queue, first should finish 50\60 class engines test. But it's not so far...
Thank you an have a nice day !

I have one I purchased new in 79. It has been on many different planes and has 100's of hours of running on it. The only thing I have done to it is replace the bearings a couple of times and clean the carbon off the valves. It runs just as strong to day as the day I got it. They are very well made engines that seem to last forever.

Hi and thank you for your great comment ! Definitely, OS Engines produced very reliable products, with a lot attention to the smallest details. I also have enough experience with OS engines and should say, that with a regular care it could last practically, forever. For sure, some parts is necessary to check and to replace regularly, as bearings and sometimes, piston rings. But if you're taking care not to overload the engine, and avoiding overheating, OS engines would serve you for decades. From my own experience, should also add, that regular engine care, as after flight A.R.O. application and cleaning at the end of season also will additionally increase engine reliable operational time. Thank you for your comment again. Merry Christmas !

I have this engine installed on a sig senior, fun engine to run amazing thing about glow engines is they could last a life time if cared for , in my opinion glow engines are better for environment than through away batteries

Thank you very much for your comments ! Certainly, indeed, glow fuel engines pollutes environment few times less, than petrol operated engines. For sure, its more ecological, and for me, for example, it's still a kind of a magic word. Probably, some people never wanted or could not become adults forever, remaining a few children in their hearts 😀

    nice to meet you!
I have the same engine too!
The one I have has slightly weak compression, but how much compression does the one in this video have?

Hi, and thank you for your comment ! Basically, I'm owning two O.S. FS 60 engines, one is completely N.I.B, another (which was on video), has a few hours on it after refurbishment. I think, that your engine will need some refurbishment, too - I mean, that the most engines with some hours on it could have less compression, due to the old castor oil residue in the piston ring groove, it is the first reason of a low compression. Another reason could be some soot at the valves saddles. If you more or less familiar with dismantling of a such engines, it could be fixed / cleaned / adjusted and assembled back in a few hours and you couldn't recognize your engine.
Thank you and have a nice day.

Thank you for all the details!
I haven't overhauled it since I bought it second hand, so I'm thinking of giving it a try.
      Thanks, you too!(*´꒳`*)

@@mekatuti Thank you very much, appreciate for that. If you will do dismantling carefully, with a proper tools, sure, your engine will get a new, happy life. Good luck and have a nice day !

Thank you very much for your comment ! I was also very surprised, really, not bad for 47 years old engine, on of the first 4 stroke RC engine in mass production.
Thank you and have a nice day !
