    What is the name of the connector that you used which plugged conveniently into the Tenere's wiring?

      The two (2) plug connector is: DJY7021A. I do not know the manufacturer, but a web search on the number should yield results.

    I installed the same thing but didn't remove the headlight, I filed the plug to fit the smaller hole, and I wired it to one of the white plugs it comes on when key does. Thanks for making such detailed videos.

    Congratulations on the channel, I'm a new Tenere owner and have been watching all your videos, all are great. I really like the way you go explaining all details, using great visual tools when necessary. Quick question: where did you find the pin connectors used in your installations?

    Does the fuse need to be changed to 5amps? I believe that 2 wire connection is on a 2amp fuse.

    Great video, but super ridiculous that Yamaha put the port option in, but made it such a laborious job.

    Nicely detailed video! Thank You! Only thing I'd add to help others is that using a unibit very slowly (so it shave just a hair off) made easy work of widening that 1" factory hole.....The USB unit I purchased had an aluminum body that was around 1-1/8".

    you should work for yamaha in video department. y are making best descriptive diy videos i have ever seen, Keep it up. Maybe u can team up with some mechanics and create more complex maintenance video (spark plug change / suspension spring change ect) over time u will get more views a t7 is quite new motorbike and with time people will look for information like that

    Great video! What a ridiculous amount of time/effort to install it though. If the USB goes bad, then you're looking at a good amount of rework as well. Although using the factory mount provides an OEM look, I think I'll use an alternate mount.

    Hi Just a question, on your videos you mentioned that there are two ports on the right side of the bike and one port at the left, so far you connected the Garmin, denali on the right which is already two ports, plus you have the USB which makes it three?

      No, there are no switch. The USB charger only works when the ignition is on since the charger is connected to one of the three electrical accessory ports.

      I have bought connectors including terminals from multiple places - one place is Cycle Terminal - search for Sumitomo MT 090 3 pin terminal. I do not remember the name of the two pin connector on the Ténéré 700.

    are you sure taking headlamp is necessary?

    • @orbsurfer8195
      @orbsurfer8195  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is in order to be able to fasten the nut on the backside of the USB port and route the wiring properly. Maybe the original USB port have a twist and lock feature making the headlamp removal unnecessary. I have removed the headlamp multiple times for this and other reasons and it is not a difficult job.

    Hi orbsurfer, thanks for sharing your tips! Did you notice any battery drain from the charger? I put on a similar one on another bike that I have an there I noticed it constantly drawing a little bit of power, but since it has a fuse I just remove it if I don't use it.

    • @orbsurfer8195
      @orbsurfer8195  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you use any of the three electrical accessory ports behind the two front panels, there will be zero drain once you turn off the ignition. All three ports leads to the same 10 A fuse, and the fuse is switched; i.e. there is only current flowing as long as the ignition is on. On my Ténéré 700, I have a quick connect wired straight to the battery that I use for a CTEK battery charger. I got a couple of extra CTEK quick connects that I wired into an air pump etc. so I can easily get access to power without having to get to the battery, nor having the ignition on.

    • @SebifastMr
      @SebifastMr 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@orbsurfer8195 I forgot that of course if you use one of the ports underneath the front panels you will only have power with the ignition on. I used one of the ports for heated grips and the other for the USB socket, I found it practical to use the OEM heated grips cable (a tip I got from @itsadyerthing, th-cam.com/video/4soWgxQ76EU/w-d-xo.html) each to connect to the 3-pin connector and the bike and to cut off and wire the other end to the USB socket and the heated grips respectively. I must say your video was really helpful especially for knowing which parts you have to remove to get access to slot for the socket! And the idea with the quick connectors of course can come in very practical.
      Quick question a fellow T7 owner might be able to answer: after reconnecting the headlight, I noticed that when I turn the ignition on only the bottom light bar turns on (parking light I assume), low beam remains off. When I turn the engine on, low beam goes on and after turning it off again via the kill switch it remains on. Now I can't remember whether it's normal that only the parking light goes on when switching on ignition?

    • @orbsurfer8195
      @orbsurfer8195  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is the normal operation.
