  • On a misty afternoon, we set out walk around the peninsula at Point Defiance in Tacoma Washington by the time we get back the sun is shining in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. Accompanied with relaxing music to match the mood of the empty beach and relaxing stroll with all the sounds of the beach.
Sea lions keep popping their heads up through the soothing surf to keep an eye on us while gulls and other birds soar above. Classic Pacific Northwest experience!
Also a walk through a Japanese Garden, almost falling off a cliff, a dog park, beached jellyfish and multiple swings found dangling above the beach that are too tempting to resist!

Holy moley!! I’ve watched this episode before but apparently not to the end ‘cause I sure don’t remember the creepy beach house!! “Proceed at your own risk”!! 😮 Is there some reason that hasn’t been torn down? Do they want people to stay out of the area beyond the creepy house? And the climb up the “eroding”, “steep” trail!! YIKES!! Did you know it was like that or was this the first time you hiked this trail? If the first time, thank goodness you had Ruby to help you find your way back to the top!! That whole area needs a BIG sign in red letters DANGER, maybe even install ropes throughout in case people get lost and don’t have a dog with them or lack a good sense of direction. They need signs like the ones at the top that say “Cliff” that say “You are at the bottom of cliffs, trail is BADLY eroded, turn back to the shore line”. Also change the name to “Point Danger”. Have there been people lost or injured there? This is WAY more dangerous than that Pucker Trail on Mt. Rainier. So glad you two made it back to the wide, flat top!! Good girl, Ruby!!🐾❤️👏🏻

Lol! Yeah I remember that day! We have done that exact route a couple times before and I didn’t remember the last part being so steep and eroded. I remember trying to find a different route up but couldn’t and the tide was coming in so if we turned back there was a good chance of getting stranded. The tide comes right up to the bottom of the cliff side so I have to time that hike just right. I remember having to turn off the camera and tuck it in my pants so I could use two hands to climb up the sandy cliff using the exposed roots. It was actually pretty scary. We haven’t been back since. Not sure if anyone has fallen there but I wouldn’t be surprised, I know people have gotten stranded by the tide.
As for the house, there is actually like 50-100 houses lined up right next to each other lining the beach. People live there and I think the sign is because it’s private property. If you look on google maps you can see them all lined up so close they are almost touching. The tide comes up right under the houses. Thankfully ruby lead the way like a mountain goat, I remember being so worried about her and if either of us fell it would have been really bad. I really like it out there, so quiet and peaceful so if we ever do go back I will time it so we can walk back the same way we came in and avoid that cliff climb. The video doesn’t do it justice on how steep and scary that one was, I was so relieved when we reached the top.
      Thanks for watching and commenting!!
      We appreciate it!🧡🐕

@@WalkWithRuby Yea, the viewer only gets a hint at how dangerous that section is when you turn around and look back at the very short section of discernible trail at about 2:06:00-2:10:00. That’s got to be about a 90 degree pitch/drop; then you turn ahead and all the viewer sees beyond the trees is ocean/sky and a small triangular section at the bottom left of the screen and then see the trees growing at weird angles. If a person has a depth or perception problem, that’s extremely dangerous. Then Ruby goes ahead BUT she returns and looks at you like, “Ok, now where or how do we get outta this, Hoodad?!”
They should put ropes in that area and maybe blaze trees in case people are inexperienced, don’t have dogs with them or lack a sense of direction, imo. Park officials need to post warnings, including online, i.e. ‘very eroded trails, rock/mudslides, dangerous tides, take ropes, emergency kits, maybe flares (cause I bet there’s NO cell reception), recommended for ONLY VERY experienced hikers/climbers or mountain goats.’ Maybe have visitor logs at the trail heads and ends like they do at Rocky and Teton Mountain trails. Color the whole area on Google Earth orange or red and change the name to Danger Point.
Speaking of Google Earth, I looked at the creepy beach house section (Salmon beach?) and OMGEEE!! How long ago was this built, 50 yrs ago? Very few intact roofs and going by the sprinkling of solar panels, some are inhabited!! Also, if looking landward from the ocean there’s some houses with big, black areas underneath them; is that massive black mold, landslide materials or something else? Have you ever met someone who lived in a house there or do they stay pretty much to themselves? Was it intended to be exclusive but became like an old hippie commune with people living off-grid?
I agree with you, it’s about impossible to do the area justice; there’s so many things to watch out for in compacted area and with a single video. Definitely an adventure of the dangerous kind. So glad you and Ruby made it out unscathed!!I
One more question, has the video always had the big blue lettered title, “Where Nobody Goes”? I don’t remember it having that title. But then I’m not the most observant person.
Anyway, Happy Easter to you and Ruby!! 💐🐇🌱🐣 Thanks for sharing and take care!! 🐾❤️🖖🏻

Yeah I think I may have changed the video thumbnail at some point.
We have only been out there a few times and have never been past that first house. I have never seen anybody in the area but I know people live there. Salmon beach is correct. Maybe we should go adventure down the beach on a super low tide one day and check it out.
That trail is more dangerous than it used to be and I’m not sure if it’s even supposed to be a trail. You saw the danger cliff sign at the top and very few people walk as far as we did from the bottom so probably only crazy people go up that way 🤣. But yeah they should probably put ropes or something just in case people don’t time the tide right and get stuck out there. There is good cell service out there though, right outside the park you’re back in the city. That’s why we like it, because it feels like you’re so far away and isolated but really the city is right there.
Happy Easter to you too!! Thank you!!!🧡🐕
