Can you please clarify how this works with feeding electrolytes (like revive) in a bottle?

Hi Jody. this question was asked elsewhere on the site, this was my reply:
All electrolyte products have different levels of electrolytes, so it's hard to say. But In general, you should be safe, so long as they have fresh water available and it's made up to the exact concentration on the packet. HOWEVER, I still wouldn't recommend it. The risks are that if you give it too concentrated you could cause diarrhoea and dehyration (ironically). If you give it without them having access to fresh water, OR if they are not comfortable drinking fresh water yet (many lambs take a while to get the hang of it, and many goats are fickle with water temperature), then they can develop excessively high sodium in the blood. Administering electrolytes when not required means the kidneys have to work to keep things balanced in the blood stream, so just unnecessary. And perhaps the most relevant risk is that in filling them up with a belly of fluid, they will be less inclined to graze, so we can see them in a calorie deficit. It's really important that they graze well during weaning time, as consistently as possible. Poor little guys but, while you would probably get away with it without worry (ie it will NOT cause water toxicity), I would still recommend avoiding it if possible.
Does this answer the confusion Jody, or was there something else to clarify? (or was this answer what was causing confusion? :) )

@@SeztheVet lamb rearers feed lambs electrolytes by bottle when lambs have diarrhoea. The revive packet i have doesn't given specifics re feeding from a bowl or bottle.
And your video said never feed water from a bottle. Electrolytes is power dissolved in water 100-200ml

Hi Jody, yes absolutely, that is the intended use for oral electrolytes (to replace them when lost, eg through diarrhoea). I assumed your question was is it safe to feed electrolytes from a nipple bottle, in regards to the "water toxicity" episode. I dont think I understand - what exactly is the question/confusion?
