The biggest tribute I can pay to this great episode is at a certain point I stopped seeing "that" beloved comedy character, and I started seeing this terrific person named Jason Alexander. This was amazing Pete
Same! Especially towards the end as I was intently listening to his thoughts on spiritually. I seriously didn't see or think about George at all. I'll always love George Castansa but it was nice to really see Jason as himself. I loved Pete's joke "Would you like another take " 😂
Pete!!! Just wanted to say again that I love that you've brought video to the table. I'll still mostly be listening to it as an audio only podcast, because that's just how my life is scheduled. But there are times when listening, that I would love to see the look on your or your guest's face, and this gives me that access. Thanks bud! Cheers
I start out watching, then switch to ipod as I go on my way...that way I can picture the scene. Only Pete would think to acquire a giant couch like this for interviews. I love knowing that even if he has a guest who I have heard tell the same story a few times, the story will be different when they are in Pete's wacky world. Thanks for all the great work and for keeping the pod free!
Jason gives me hope for the world. This might be my favorite episode ever, and I've listened to them ALL, JERRY! (Many multiple times). What a vulnerable honest experience.
I've been sorta binging this podcast because I just discovered it and of the 30 or 40 that I've watched so far, this was probably the best one. Jason's personality is so complimentary to Pete's that the questions he asks everybody seem like they were written just to ask Jason eventually because his answers and stories were the best possible responses to them. I was thoroughly engaged with this from beginning to end. Really great stuff.
Wow. I'm a huge Seinfeld (the show especially) fan. I rewatch the entire run at least once a year. I have to say this was a much better discussion than I expected. That's not a diss on either person involved. The contrary in fact. Very entertaining, enlightening, and emotionally invested discussion. Thanks to you both.
The way he had to try and make sure Jason understood the "ill let you do a second take so you can give a better answer joke". Face palm! 😂 But such a good interview 👌
He's just such a caring soul! He probably loathes the idea that anyone might even think he was saying something unkind or ridiculing them, so you get some overcompensation in that regard, I think
There's the classic question: "If you could have dinner with any [insert number of people] person/people alive or dead, who would you choose?" I wouldn't care who is at that table so long as Pete is there - he would top my list every time. He has a way of taking charge of a conversation in a way that makes his guests comfortably vulnerable. I have enjoyed every episode of this podcast for as long as I have been listening to it and only wish that I could have at least one conversation in my life that is as profound and vulnerable as every one of these podcasts. Thank you, Pete for providing us all with these gifts.
I loved this episode! I laughed, I cried, it brought all new considerations into my brain that I would never have thought otherwise. Thank you so much for your wonderful content and bringing so many smiles :)
Jason Alexander is soft spoken, knows his stuff and passionate about teaching his craft. I appreciate his performance of George Costanza so much more now... Jeremy Piven could never
I liked him as George but I respect him so much as Jason Alexander. That part about being a good person if you don't like who you are but are working on it? I needed that one right now.
Peter, I’m sure you’ve already considered this, but you’ve wanted Seinfeld on the pod for years and you now have a gentleman who definitely has Seinfeld’s number in his phone…
@@MerelyPassingThrough oh I know. I have my own opinions of jerry, but I know Pete has looked up to him in his comedy journey and has talked about him being a “dream guest” along with Ryan gosling.
@@jaredgregory3075 "Comedian in Cars" is pretty much a fancy podcast, so not sure what you mean by this. Seinfeld doesn't come across as an elitist to me, although he's obvious an elite person...one of the richest comedians on the planet. Not sure what people want from him, he's already given so much.
what an enlightening listen. i LEARNED so much. about self-improvement, acting, and everything in between. this deserves 10x as many views. thanks Pete, and thank you Jason!
Though the visual medium is just Pete and guest on a couch, this truly cannot be fully appreciated in a solely audio format … this episode illustrates this perfectly
It’s so nice seeing consciousness expand. I saw someone ask Jason once what film he wished he could have been an actor in and his answer was ‘Network.’ Jason is a smart guy.
Pete is so shocked at the idea of Jerry Seinfeld smoking a cigar, I think he would literally die if he found out about Jerry dating a 17-year-old high schooler
When someone like Jerry dates a 17 year old, it isn't about abusing the young person, its about having the experience he never had back when he was young...a longing for love and acceptance that had to be forestalled for decades. I don't judge him for this, especially considering the standards of the time and looking back through history, with all the royalty and their "child wives" through the ages. I'm sure he was hoping to fall in love and everything that happened was consensual. Nowadays, we have all agreed that because of the power dynamic, even 19 year olds must be treated as children who aren't capable of knowing their own minds...and with the hypnosis of the screen-time information age, I guess that might be an accurate way to judge young adults of the modern era.
I watched the Julia Louis-Dreyfus episode recently. When Pete asked her about the time she's laughed the hardest, I was hoping she would mention the parking garage scene, but she didn't.
Long story short. I listen (And re-listen) to podcasts to fall asleep. With this one I find myself so enthralled I always make it to the ghost encounter story and get scared and have to turn on the light. I'm 32
I was waiting for my kid in a hair salon when I came upon Jason Alexander's interview in Money magazine. I had only seen him in Seinfeld and like one movie at that point and it gave me a terrible personal impression of him; because he's quite a good actor. But in that article he completely changed my perspective of him. Particularly, his thoughts on fame and success. Very humble and reasonable dude; props
I love how they were talking about the great ending to the Seinfeld episode and then the podcast had a great ending. Pete’s “You’re serious, orange juice” callback was next level
This one is so great! Loved his Enquirer "Possibly a Ghost who got the Maid" story. And also, yes, fuck the Enquirer. His existential/creator musings are obviously authentic and interesting. Really wish more "secular" people could talk openly about "bigger picture" ideas, and REALLY wish the fundamentalist religious would just wake up or disappear all together. SERENITY NOW
I figured he'd be an interesting person. I was very pleasantly surprised. He's remarkably genuine. Sort of off-topic, but something Jerry said on Norm's podcast has always stuck with me: 'People don't have to like your characters. They just have to like the world.' I've always found that really insightful, and I think it can go the other way too, but it's changed the way I watch TV ever since.

Peter, I’m sure you’ve already considered this, but you’ve wanted Seinfeld on the pod for years and you now have a gentleman who definitely has Seinfeld’s number in his phone…
Hmm, not sure about this. Seinfeld doesn't seem to have an earnest bone in his body.

I dunno, I kinda feel like Jason Alexander HAS written the book on Larry David; it was just printed in a very unusual format.
And somewhere in New York today, George Costanza is ready that book while sitting on the toilet in the book store! 😂😂😂
