Man this is an awesome time to be into RC, so many innovative and great rigs and parts. Now if we could just get these companies to do something other than jeeps, broncos, and power wagons!
I'm looking at the Rock Van. Pretty neat looking rig.
Super glad you pointed out the weight distribution on the stock setup. A lot of guys did in fact mentioned it looked rear heavy but in reality it took a lot of effort to make it as close to balanced as possible because most buyers are not really comp drivers. These vehicles should be well balanced for those that dont have the skills that someone like yourself has. If I made it nose heavy like the pros are asking for it wouldve made it super hard for younger or inexperienced drivers to control. But, we did make sure to add enough adjustability so you could get the benefits of a custom setup. In the end you know we will be adding more upgrades to bring it closer and closer to what real comp drivers expect from it 👍. Awesome review and as always making us all look bad with your driving! 😁
I’ve never had a nose heavy rig feel harder to drive… if anything wheel/nose weight make them far far easier to run. 58/42 has always felt like a real sweet spot… 60/40 makes decent harder but a little gas will save you from flipping. I personally like to add a little weight to the back wheels and then add weight in the front ones until I’m around 58/42…. Ive done nauseating amounts of testing with all variables removed
@@V8chump You've never had an issue because the figures you run are very close to balanced at 58/42 which I think is a very good number for overall performance. This rig I set a little closer to 52/48 in an attempt to make it easier on the "new drivers". Those numbers are very easily changed though with just swapping where things sit with no extra expense. The issue some inexperienced drivers run into with nose heavy setups like the one you mention at 60/40 and above is when they try to descend and the rear is too light making the body stick up high because shocks don't compress and the whole thing flips forward. It also reflects in climbs where front tires make it over object and no longer have enough traction and rear tires refuse to help because there's no weight on them to give them that extra bite. For experienced drivers there are a million ways to deal with these scenarios but for a 7 yr old that just got one for his bday is a bit more tricky and sometimes off putting. Remember we are trying to grow our hobby and offering the best experience possible to the new crowd with our products out of the box is the easiest way to get them hooked for life like we are. And again, I designed this chassis so that even experienced drivers like yourself can find a heck of a lot of improvement by minor tweaks. In the end we are just trying to bring something to the hobby that wont require you immediately replacing 75% of the stock vehicle before feeling its ready for its first drive 😉👍😁.
Furitek really pays attention to our little corner of the hobby. Companies like Furitek and Injora respond quickly to new models and popular trends. $200 for a brushless RTR is a fantastic price point. I think the body is ugly, but the truck performs well. I'd love to see some more original designs instead of rehashing existing products. Great overview of the product Matt, love your work!
Totally agree! Both of those companies really try to make what we want. Very good to work with. I appreciate the comment 🙏
I agree as well and YES the BODY is ugly
The mini and micro RC companies just got put on notice with this rig. Brushless motor, aluminum chassis, and oil filled shocks under $200?!?! Great video. Great review. I have one on the way. Can't wait to do my own review on this rig.
This is now at the top of my "to get" list. It comes with all the things I would add but cheaper than I could buy them for separately.
At 199, I was sold in the first 5 minutes. Very well done review, answered all my questions. Hope they made a lot of them !!
That’s what I told them lol. Better have a bunch ready to go!
@@2fmrc The best RTR in this scale, pretty much hands down, IMO . They pretty much checked all the boxes, for someone that wants a really good crawler, out of the box .My biggest problem is I live in Canada, unless someone imports them and sells them, my cost would be way too much.
great content as always. at $199, it's a smoking deal and literally changes the mini-crawler market. why anyone would buy a brushed 1/24 axial product now is beyond me.
I think enjoying the way it looks is like 50% if not more for me, and I’m just not digging this things looks too too much. Still awesome though
Ya axial needs to step it up for real 🤣
@dellystinky you ain't lying, the last scx24 I bought only turned left once and right twice before the servo shat out literally when powering up the first time. lol
LOL! You weren't kidding on the warning up front on the video 😂🤣 Atleast we got our dude back at the end of the video 👍👍 Another great vid sir! Thanks for sharing.
That’s a little promo thing I did for Furitek to show to some of the online shops they were trying to get in on this so it was definitely an infomercial but I didn’t wanna waste all that info and reshoot it lol. So I added it to this vid.
SUPER excited to see this out! Can't wait to get one in hand. Really hope to see the aftermarket start giving Hobby Plus some attention now.
Already made an order-and able to use your discount code.
Nice! Glad it helped save a bit. Even better deal lol
@@2fmrcwhy is shipping $40 to the USA ?
@@DrKVo13 no idea. That does seem pretty crazy. I did just pay $20 shipping on some Promoto graphics which is basically a sliver of paper so I guess it’s part of it now days lol
@@2fmrc great video btw. Been watching lots of your vids. Which would you pick furi wagon or the new trx4m high trail.
Also when you said slack ( for the furi wagon) does it have more slack than the k5 blazer ? I know trx4m bearly have none. Because it’s a straight axial.
The game has been changed.
100%
Got mine preordered and still waiting on it but man well worth the wait and happy I got it coming when it comes
Can't wait to get mine! I ordered the red one this morning. The Furitek and Furitek USA sites are showing an MSRP of $239 with a pre-order price of $199. Either way just the electronics almost hit that price if you buy them seperate. I think they've nailed it with this RTR and other companies are going to need to step up thier games to keep up with these as long as the aftermarket support picks it up and the long term quality doesn't drop off. Great video! it just makes me more excited to get mine and start messing with it.
Great video!! Those poor bugs at 13:17 😂 this truck is an amazing value, usually we buy an RTR and replace everything, this truck out of the box only (maybe) needs wheels and tires. Amazing value!
What? No way! I just got my EVO and now I need this. Furitek is coming out with stuff faster than I can come up with the money 💰
In my opinion this is the best deal you can possibly get in todays market on a 1/18th scale!! You’re talking about 150 just for the motor and servo combo! 💪
Nice thorough review Matt, this little guy is on my "buy it now" list as soon as it's available. Thanks again!
Matt, once again sir thank you for the detailed and thorough review. I don’t like the body so thanks for putting a few different bodies on it. Love your channel and keep it going because we appreciate it
i pre-ordered it
Best for the Bug that Got me
Thx for the content m8 and Show US pls some stuff for it
Nice addition to the small scale market! Great video man! 🦾
Yes it is! Really appreciate it 🙏
Loving the videos 2fmRC. One of these days ill come iver and make a cameo appearance ❤❤
Heck yeah!!! You gotta!!!
Thanks for the video Matt !!! Pre-ordered , engaged !!!
Nice!!! Hope you love it!
People are really going to have to try to beat this I don't know if they will be able to great video bro
Definitely worth it for the price! I prefer my rigs to be water proof but i will probably still get this and just run it on dry land only lol. Great video as always! 🔥
Yeah for the price you could swap in a cedar motor and be set! Lol
Yeah looking awesome I’m here watching
Looks awesome, if i whouldnt have settled for SCX 24 and bought an inventory of spare and tuning parts for about 2 or 3 K i would definitely go for this.
Iv just ordered myself one for my birthday 🎂 🥳, can't wait try something different than a 1/10
Best "micro" rtr hands down. They made this thing amazing 🔥🔥🔥
Awesome vid as always thanks. I use black string instead of rubber bands for my limit straps for a more predictable function
This will be the 6th Power Wagon and the first 1/18 if I got it. I would usually jump on something like this but for now it's nice to know it's out there. I hope it actually is a game changer meaning influencing the current state of the art across platforms. I'm busy with my new Etco Black now. I've spent more on it than for it.
Wow that was informative almost like a commercial 😅😅😂😂 looks like a good one
Yeah it sort of was a commercial. I shot that beginning section as a promo kinda thing for amain and a few others to get a look at this earlier on. So it was an unlisted video (only viewable by link) that they could check out this thing and decide if they wanted to carry it. I just decided to include it at the beginning of my official video since it gave some good info.
Well it was very professional
Just info on the radio. Its a Fly Sky trans. You can see it on oposit side of the wheel.
Thanks, great content. It is a game changer!
This thing looks awesome! I might try to put in the two-speed just for fun
Are the tires similar tread pattern to the Flatirons??? Looks like a pretty cool truck over all!!!👍👍👍
I would say kinda similar to those tires. They are the same that come on the hobbyplus trucks. Decent stock tires but we will all upgrade them imo
Out of curiosity, what is that Brat body? I have an upgraded CR18p that I love, so still debating on pulling the trigger here, but being being able to more easily find a scale body for the wheelbase might push me over the edge!
Just preordered mine. Would you happen to know when they are supposed to ship?
Hey Matt, I just ordered one this morning. But I wanted ask you what the screw head sizes? I wondering if I need another driver set to work on it.
Thanks,
Corey
Pretty sweet deal for the price. Choices, choices.
So awesome!!! Can you show how you did the rubber bands?
Yeah I’ll have a mod vid soon!
I think this is the best mini crawler for the price. Rtr but those components are more expensive if you buy all of them to upgrade your rig from gears and everything….
just now seeing this one... the flame paint job caught my eye... I bought the brushless HP rushmore($139) and then the HP furitek Katana($99) back to back and they are awesum. I am still looking for a good deal on that flame truck body just ot put on the Rushmore since the Katana body kind of makes it look cheap. Bought the Katana since for $99 you could not even buy a lizard pro and venom motor combo at the time for that... had no idea it had all the same underpinings as this truck.
Looks amazing and for the price seems like a steal.
I agree! Hard to beat the value in it.
Super good deal. I'm definitely over these style bodies though.
I just got my cayman though so I'm good for now 😅
does this have the bluetooth to the esc? foc? any of those features you'd see in the other escs?
Yep! Built in Bluetooth etc. Standard lizard pro esc.
THEY NAILED IT PRICE AND ALL! Getn the black flame!
Nice! Keep me updated on it. Hope you love it!
Definitely a level up for a killer price! Does it come w/ receiver. Battery, and charger?
Yes. Completely ready to run with batt!
I bet we're about to see lots more 1.2" wheels. I have some but decent tires are hard to find.
Well worth the buck a.must have
Have you had anything break?
must resist....must resist more crawlers...must resist
SOLD...thanks for the $20 discount code funkster
happy crawling from Derbyshire's Peak District (we got all the rocks)
Nice! So the code worked for you?
@@2fmrc yes indeed $20 reduction
@@bongofury3176 nice! Had a few people say it wasn’t working but I think that was on the Furitekusa site. They don’t give me codes there.
Will a rock van body fit on this?
Matt, have you had the opportunity to try any off the batrazzi parts from fair rc? Really curious of the steel wheels compared to rc4wd and the oil shocks
I’m actually working on the video for that now! I really like the wheels so far. Seemed to mount up easier than the rc4wd and come with the brass ring. The tires are just ok so far but I’ve had very limited time with them. The oil shocks remind me of the aluminum cr18p oil shocks without the fake reservoir. I think they’ll be solid but haven’t ran them yet.
I got the wheels and shocks. Very easy to work with. Like the feel of the tires. But like any tire, its so dependent on your rig, the rocks, the weight distribution, heck even the weather. Unfortunately I haven't tried the shocks but they don't seem to have that 'stick' when sitting around for too long.
Quelle carosserie peut on mettre dessus pour un look plus perf ?
Hi Matt! how do you charge the battery with the molex connector? Can you please share what kind of chargers ans connector you use? I just got myself this truck and i cant figure it out... Don't want to use the USB charger that comes with it.
Thanks!
@@nicolaspetchersky3109 i actually use one of these chargers for all of my small packs. It’s just so easy and has always worked well for me.
amzn.to/3ZZAChV
@2fmrc thanks! But it looks that it can't do storage charge or balance doesn't it? Isn't it a problem? I'm new in the hobbie and I want be as safe as posible with this lipo's... :)
@ It charges through the balance port so it’s always balanced. I usually keep mine fully charged. Never had an issue with the small packs. Or you could charge lightly with it and check with a cell checker but I honestly just always charge mine full and leave them.
@@2fmrc your the best! Thanks a lot for your quick response.love your chanel! Thanks again!
@ anytime! I appreciate ya being here! Let me know if ya need anything else
Looks sweet, wonder how it stacks against the cayman
Without stretching the cayman I think it’ll do slightly better just because it’s a bit longer. Which helps the uphill etc. The cayman is still a great truck though.
This is affordable af brushless, portals, metal gears, bearings save so much insteax of going custom. Some people saying thats too expensive well I have Trx4ms that blew a months salary
Exactly! The new high trail costs almost just as much and is the electronics are terrible out of the box. Gearing is way off etc. This is an insane deal!
How much have you torn into this thing? Does the gearbox have bearings in it at least?
No it’s bushings throughout
Once it goes to $240, still a great value? Was leaning towards FCX24 but now might have to just do this instead
Yeah I think so! Still the best value imo at the $240
What lexan half cab body is that you show for a second . Is that a 1/24 body or 1/18
It’s the atlas 1/18 clear body
@@2fmrc much appreciated. We all loved your take on that new furitek. We saw that body and needed it. Thanks for the info. We watch everything you post
@@Havingoneofthosedays- I really appreciate that 🙏
Hoping to hear your thoughts on the FMS K5 FCX24 Way Cool McCue package.
Got one on the way! Should be here any day
Is the transmission as loud compared to the power wagon 🤔
Overall it is pretty loud. Really echoes through these bodies.
@@2fmrc ya I took the windows out of Doug helps a bit
@@2fmrc does it sound that loud without the body on? I like to go trailing and nothing ruins the quiet like the esc humming and gears churning. Wonder if diff body and cut out windows would be helpful. Its not like we can put dampening foam inside the bodies to change that.
im coming from scx24s but i think that other truck Furitek looks way cooler and there aint no way this is better then the 6x6 version right? i dont have either just thoughts? Edit hahha im at 11:40 so here you are talking about cayman hahah another EDIT LOL i guess i see price point but to be honest from outside looking in i would just save up and buy cayman
Is it just a sticker covering the windows? the green and red look to be clear out the box, well at least in the product photos.
Yeah it’s a sticker on these but you have to strip the paint on the inside as well. I cut around the trim to leave it and scrubbed the paint off the inside with some nitro fuel.
Does the Rock Van wheel base match up?
Yep! Sure does
@2fmrc awesome, thank you for the reply, I got 2 girls that love Scooby-Doo, they'll be tickled, thanks again
Question how fast can it go as I noticed it has 1 speed tranny ?
Pretty fast. I’m gonna do some speed comparisons in an upcoming vid hopefully
At first I thought it had fms fcx24 parts. I don’t know much about hobby plus.
Hi , works on 3s?
Yes
Alright but of all time… what’s the best micro (1/24 or 1/18th) crawler. There’s too many for any normal person to get a good comparison
This is definitely the best rtr imo
@@2fmrc but what about after some hop ups? Nobody is keepin their crawlers stock and this looks like there’s not a whole ton of upgrades to be done
@@V8chump depends how far you’re gonna go with the upgrades really. It’s not as capable as my custom builds but it’s probably more capable than any fcx or scx that I just did a few (3-4) upgrades to. Plus most of the upgrades are already included lol. Chassis, motor, esc, shocks etc.
I love my fcx and the mods I've made to it, but if this truck had existed a couple of months ago I would've bought this instead
No doubt! Even if we plan to change it quite a bit, it’s still the best way to start a build imo
Cayman links suck...they bind up easily and hit the frame right out of the box. I bought the cayman kit thinking I wouldn't need to change a bunch of stuff... I was wrong lol
You spent 2 or 3 dollars on an item at the dollar store?
Liars! Lol Freakin Dollar General is full of it!
There’s no way they didn’t tell you what to say 😂
They can’t speak that good of English so no they didn’t tell me anything lol. I did however actually script what I planned to say using the specs etc from the truck. The beginning section of the video was used by Furitek as a presentation to some online shops etc. I reused it as the base of the info for the beginning of this video.
Use a lady's elastic ponytail holder on the front. It limits the lift and allows more flex. Doesn't grip on the plastic!
Mah...
Is the pie ready yet?
It will be ready in...
650 Mili Amp Hours.
Pretty awesome if I had to buy a an rtr it would be this thing. Axial is definitely gonna have to step their game up i think they have the worst micro rtrs on the market at this point. Also i agree enough friggen power wagon, bronco, jeeps etc. Great video as always!
i would have like it to have a 2nd gen dodge truck body, i don't think there are allot of boomers around that want a 1960s body? maybe im the only one that likes 80,and 90s trucks?
I hate the body and that style body in general. But the chassis and other components look great
It's always the new little companies that shake up the market. The legacy companies seem like they are decades behind. By looking at what the truck comes with, you know the people behind it actually are hobby enthusiasts, not paper pushers from the marketing team. Comparing this to my scx24 Deadbolt, I'm speechless. I can't believe Axial and Traxxas are still selling their minis when there is this option. Their latest offerings are laughable. Now we just have to wait for FMS FCX18 series to be revealed to see what they are bringing to the table. Please be brushless, no more brushed non-sense.
Nah, I prefer build from scratch.
Same here, but LOTS of people want the easier way to have a solid truck and this is definitely it!
Since it single speed can you reposition the engine and transmission so motor facing backwards so you can mount batteries to the front to give it 40-60 weight ratio? Nice review that motor reminds me mofo RC nano beast!
Drivetrain is 1000% not bulletproof... There is ONE bearing in the entire truck. The motor shaft bearing. Everything else is bushings. Youll have progressively worsening slop and damage to your drivetrain unless you spring for a bearing kit to do a conversion. I did that. My axle shafts were rusted straight out of the box!!! What a hunk of junk. The chassis has no afterthought at all for upgrades. The high clearance links they sell dont even work in the vehicle without contacting eachother in the rear and you cant adjust it out with the plethora of mounting options because the giant battery tray is in the way 🤣 the high clearance links also remove ground clearencr because the links stick below the frame. This truck was designed by idiots.
I agree with a lot of that. Ditch that battery tray. It’s a joke. The chassis layout is insane. The links and skid mounting positions are horrible etc but it is only $199 brushless rtr which is appealing to a lot of people who don’t want to go through a build process. I’m still running the bushings in mine with no issues. Been on 3s since the day I got it and haven’t had any issue with it. The driveline has a ton of slop like you said but that’s all of these small trucks with portals basically. Still a great truck for the price but it’s not a custom lcg build for sure. I’d definitely take it for $50 more over a Trx4m which also comes with bushings or an scx24 with junk everything.
@@2fmrc I do agree with the value. It is probably the best dollar to performance ratio RTR on the market. You get a lot of vehicle for your money. I just with they took a little more time or even made the price 10% higher to address some of the issues that are obvious if you modify the vehicle from stock at all. I guess I just have a problem with how it's marketed. Is this for new people who are supposed to buy this as their first RC experience or is it supposed to be the new 1/18 scale gold standard similar to an scx24?
I'm not sure I agree with your second opinion though. With how cheap an scx24 is right now (120 as of right now or cheaper) you can create a very competitive brushed build and address all of its issues for the same price and it could be more customized. It definitely comes down to preferences and what you intend to do with the truck though. For people who will never upgrade their vehicles and have no interest in tearing them apart I supposed this is an amazing package. Really I'm just miffed about the smaller things like my axles being rusted out and the fact that the lights don't even turn off... Whats up with that? That is just an indication to me that they really don't care about the fit and finish of the vehicle. I won't even touch on the actual hardware issues alot of people have been having or furiteks assumption that all of its customers are stupid idiots who don't know how to do anything. Maybe they really do intend and assume only new RC user will buy the truck? Most people who aren't into the hobby won't even understand what brushless means or denotes.
I appreciate your discourse!
