Your consistent testing procedure really shows us the capability of each model far better than any other TH-camr. Since the fcx118 & fx118 are all the rage right now I know id like to see a head to head comparison on the course. Thanks again for all your help and advice

Also ordered sticky tires and a ton of brass low leveled parts, even the wheels. The new class 180 motor won't be on the car to sleep.
Some weight to move up and down. I guess you know this kind of thing.😉

I think I need one of these. I'll have to wait till after xmas though. I just bought 3 TRX3Ms in a row. One for me, 2 for my kids for xmas. Which is fine anyway since there's no availability for them in Canada yet. They're only shipping to US customers
The 2 speed transmission is a game changer. Also, I've decided to only buy 1/18 scale because I have OCD.
Gonna hold out hope they're going to come out with new versions of their other 1/18ths.
A few days ago I bought a new Trx4m. After watching this video, I’m rethinking life.
Fms been really kicking butt lately,just wish they give more options for shock location , another great review.
Love their products, I have the 1:18 glacier and love it, but they don’t sell spare batteries for it which is unfortunate

Took mine out for the first time today! Really loving the new motor, works so well with the 2 speed. Biggest issue IMO is the suspension set-up, oil shocks and spring rates seem ok but it sits so high! Im going to make some shock towers to lower it a bit!
Would the wheel and tires you used on the trx4m bronco in your budget build video work on this?
Adam, could you make a material for FMS FCX18 toyta full performance tuning? It also has the best possible rock climbing capabilities ;p I would be very grateful because no one has yet made this model specifically for crowling. Best regards, Mirosław

Better tires and brass axle add ons are needed to keep the CoG low.

Any brass parts for the FCX24 axles would fit. Typical 7mm hex wheels will fit, so some nice heavy beadlocks and good tires would go a long way.

Great review, just recently started doing the crawling. Many years ago I had gas RC cars. Lots of fun and lots of breakage. But this crawling stuff is great fun. I am enjoying the slower pace of crawling. Love this scale as well. I am running the Bronco Traxxas. Again great reviews. 👍🏼
Nice review! I was waiting for yours. Would like to ask which is better for someone that won’t want to buy many upgrades, this or the TRX4M High Trail?
The high trail performed better in nearly all tests that I did, but it doesnt have the same scale detail this one does, nor does it have the two speed transmission which is a lot of fun. I think it depends what you like. If you like the scale details, this one is probably for you. Throw some brass rings in the wheels and some brass parts on the front axles and it will be a much better performer

I'm looking to get into the mini rc scene. I have watched many of your videos and I think I have narrowed it down to a SCX24 or FCX18. Which one would you suggest to a beginner? I've watched your Bronco build videos and was wondering if you would pour the same amount of sweat and tears into something like the FCX18? Great channel.
Both are going to be great for a beginner. I think the FCX18 may be better simply because it's larger, more capable, and has the two speed transmission. It's going to keep you entertained and there is less (if anything) you'll need to change to make it really good out of the box

That front bumper unfortunately snapped like a matchstick. Hopefully we can get some solid aftermarket options soon

Ours is still stock. Haven’t touched it! We have really been enjoying it stock oddly enough.
Why no more videos on the lc80?
So I’m thinking about getting another rig at some point but I’m not sure what I want, budget is on the smaller side but I don’t know if I want another mini(1/18) or if I want a full size rig(1/10) top contenders are a trx4m, a team associated cr12, a redcat gen8 or a element enduro trailrunner… what are your thoughts?
I can tell you that I enjoy the heck out of the larger scales and if your budget allows it, I would go that route. The gen 8 looks amazing, but I think I prefer the element personally. Did you see Amain hobbies is having a sale where if you buy an Element trailrunner you get a 1/24 truck for free? You could get both: a mini and a 1/10! alnk.to/6bTlc1o

Great videos. I’m about your age and getting into RC with my kids. Should I buy this, the TRX4M or the SCX24 to start? Indoor and outdoor stuff. I suspect I’ll be like you and it won’t be my last. Thanks in advance for all the money your videos will cost me😂
This is a great question for Adam I'm curious too even though I've made my journey what his answer is.
If you intend to tinker, I think the trx4m or scx24 are better. If you’ll feel annoyed at needing to change things (due to underperformance) then probably get this or the fx118 fury wagon.
But the scx 24 has worm gear differentials and is pretty kid proof
I went with the SCX24 because of all the customization Adam has done to his. I like the versatility of being able to build it in so many different ways. My next one is definitely one of these or the CR-18P.
I would go TRX4M defender, great out of the box and loads of cool upgrades available for them. You won’t be disappointed which ever one you choose, they are all great fun!
I would say hey SCX24, TRX4M takes a lot of money to get it running good and be a very good crawler, SCX24 doesn’t take as much money and has more upgrades for you.
Also does this TOYOTA LAND CRUISER have 4 HIGH AND 4 LOW CAPABILITY ??
Maybe not different tyres yet…… but rather heavier wheels and different foams. Wonder how that would do.

Where u buy it and how much
Mine is in 2wd setting and don’t know how to change it to 4wd . Any help on how to switch it ?
Is the CH3 switch not working? Sometimes the servo gets stuck. If you tap it with a screwdriver or try to manual move the servo arm sometimes you can get it to function properly again
I would've much preferred the straight axles from the previous generation LC80 with RocHobby. The portals are nice & definitely provide more performance, but takes a lot away from the scale appearance.
The added height contributes to the top heavy feeling as well
the tyres seem wayy smaller than the trx4m

Oh boy thats a tough one. The FCX18 is awesome with the portal axles and two speed transmission. A new model FCX18 is coming and I would choose that over the high trail

I would like the Blue and Silver colour scheme , some brass portal inner and outers , heavier rims and better tires , adjust the weight bias to 60f and 40r and it should be very capable 😊
I can't wait to see the upgrades that you are going to do on this. I followed your upgrades on the FCX24 Power Wagon and applied a lot of it ( maybe went overboard ) , but it performs so well now.

So far just enjoying it stock. We put the trailer hitch on it and just enjoy it as is!
@capecrawlers How durable is this thing? Can my 3yo play with it? Would it survive stairs or drop from a table? If it is a bad idea what crawler would you recommend?
What’s better Trx4m or fcx24
They're both great. The FCX24 is nice because of the portal axles and two speed transmission. There arent as many upgrades available for them as the Traxxas now, and you don't have as many body choices (licensed anyway).

Your YOYOTA LAND CRUIZER looks more like the real thing than the real thing .....As far as assesories how about MUD FLAPS and make the so by using double stick tape or something to that meaning. Glue would work also.?
