Also for anyone wondering or are new, this is in Bristol bay Alaska during the summer salmon run and I SetNet fish for salmon with nets that’s are stationary which catch the fish by the gills. I’ve been doing a this since I was very young and am making a 2023 fishing series so if you are interested check out more of my videos!

Thanks I fished in cordova on my brothers boat over 2 seasons. I am curious do you change districts as drift gillnetters can. Do you move nets within your district. Do you use a skiff in addition to the larger boats. Who is the other crew?

Your way to slow, you gotta speed it up. Faster you are the more drifts you can make.

Lol. yeah us compared to a average drifter there is definitely a difference in speed, however our nets stay in place and stay in the water way longer so we aren't under that time pressure. Also I've picked enough fish in my life that you'll learn to instead to pick the fish more effectively and understand how they get caught, rather then just yanking it out and putting holes in the net.

I nearly get sick watching this. No wonder Salmon are almost extinct in the USA because of the greed of such a few...

@@sam-68-56 Greed? Salmon return annually in the millions each year to Bristol bay, we barely even scratch at their numbers. We are regulated by fish & game each year on how many salmon they need to reach the spawns so salmon populations stay healthy. This is one of the cleanest and most heavily regulated runs in the world. Us local Bristol bay salmon fisherman are not causing fish to go extinct, we are simply catching what is already out there. These salmon bring tons of jobs to the local area and provide food for thousands locally and internationally . I’m sensing your problem is more of an emotional one.

@@alaskanwhiskey6383You are spot on The fishery is heavily regulated and enforcement by law enforcement. You don't fish till enough fish are going up stream to insure reproduction in that river. The state has been regulating since 1959 and doing a good job creating jobs and preserving the fishery
