This video is not getting anywhere nearly as much attention as it deserves. Very well put together. Great narrative. I'll be sharing this across my business pages.
I was going to say the same thing! - This video is a Public Service in a country like America that's hemorrhaging scientific and critical thinking at an alarming rate.
glad you see is it ....everyone else thinks its a big party, very few see the seriousness of what is happening.....we have a chicken processing plant nearby , trucks pass locally with chickens sitting in them going to the slaughter house ...all with that blank stare ....if the only knew right. Probably better this way. Go to the book the dolorous passion of our lord Jesus Christ chapter 43 on internet read what she writes....red dust is close.
I'm in Portland, OR and path of totality also has this bizarre affect on hotel rates and camping ground rates. It seems that it causes the price to increase almost ten fold. Even more bizarre people couldn't cought up their money fast enough. What a time to be alive, folks!
this was FANTASTIC, and really simple but informative to an inexperienced eclipse expert... i actually plan on watching a few of these since you managed to grab my attention! thank you!!!
Graceland cemetery will be the epicenter in Cameron, MO 12:50pm if your are in the area, Be there for the Black Sun!, I know I will. Check out the song Black Sun on my music playlist by E-Nomine.
I remember the total solar eclipse of 1979. I was 19 years old. I laid on my back in my backyard, used welding goggles & binoculars and looked up at the sun. And sure enough, the moon was directly over the sun. I remember I saw the sun's flames shooting out around behind the moon, just like they show on TV. That was a spectacular event!
I'm in Bowling Green, KY. It's gonna be right on us. Can't wait. My university cancelled all classes that day, even though it's the first day of classes. They're holding viewing events.
Stannis Baratheon it will pass through Kentucky and maybe Paul Ryan Will stop being a shill for Corporate$ at that moment and make College tuition free Or not!
Enjoyed your video...I saw my first total eclipse from the Caribbean on Feb. 26 1998 but took far too long bracketing my shots to totally (pardon the pun) appreciate the spectacle. This time I can drive down from S.W. Ontario and go to either Carbondale, Illinois or Crofton, Kentucky to get the most bang for my buck and enjoy the moment!
This is a great presentation. I like the graphics that depicted how a total solar eclipse occurs. The narrator also was very good. The story line keep moving and all of the information was germane to the subject. Thank you for making this presentation available! I too will be in Nebraska. I will be traveling from Montana to a small (undisclosed) city in Nebraska to see this great event. I will be meeting my brother there. He is traveling from Virginia, and together, we will see and experience it together.
That dislike button kills me! This is an informative video, nicely done and to the point, yet people have disliked it! Anyways, good job Darell at UALRTV, thanks for uploading.
Once in a lifetime event and my kids don't want to let me take my 12 yr old grandson to see it cause "school" will be in session. I just declared myself the teacher and I'm going to fail them ! ! !
Kat Heron I do love my kids and homeschooled when they made parents take a teachers exam to do it ! Now...my son in law & daughter have my grandson in public school. See how it goes !
This video is very good but I have one small correction. The "mini-eclipses" mentioned when light passes through the small openings created between leaves on a tree, are created as a function of imaging geometry of the diameter of the openings and the distance from the openings to the "screen" (Sidewalk, house, etc.) and not from diffraction of light through the holes. Any small hole (such as nail holes through sheet metal roofing or siding) can act as a "pinhole" and create the images in question. The images will begin to be seen where the image of the sun grows to equal the openings between the leaves. You can experiment with these images by placing a piece of white cardboard in the beam of light that has passed through a small opening. Starting with the cardboard near the hole and slowly moving it farther back, you will begin to see the image come into focus. The point at which you first see a clear image, will represent a scale model of the Sun-Earth distance presented as the size of the sun in relation to the distance between the pinhole and the cardboard screen. Additionally, the diameter of the focused image will be a scale representation of the size of the Sun to the distance from the Sun to the Earth.
I'll be in the path during it's maximum duration in southern Illinois, unless its cloudy, I might need to head into Missouri, or jet over to Kentucky at the last minute, but I'll be there. Hoping to catch the shadow bands with my drone...
There was a total eclipse when I was a kid, we took a shoe box and poked a couple of holes in it in order to watch it...... I don't remember how or where dad punched the holes, but we saw it that way. PS, we were living in Baltimore Md. (60's or 70's)
No one can forecast the cloud cover accurately enough to say there will be no clouds, although the late morning to early afternoon time in August in Nebraska tends to be clear to partly cloudy as a rule.
I have a solar filter for my camera and solar glasses for me. The sun will be high in the sky at the time of the eclipse. I have attempted on two occasions to use a tripod and have so far found that it is useless. Even with the filter and glasses there is no way to see what you are aiming at. How do you aim your camera? Today, I tried it handheld and guessed where to point. 1 out of 40 photos had any part of the sun in frame. As far as I can tell, you just have to shoot blindly and hope you get something. Any suggestions?
Glenn, you should still be able to view the Sun without the need for glasses via your electronic viewfinder. I don't know what kind of set up you have so it's difficult for me to advise you. Check with web sites like this one for more info: www.bhphotovideo.com/explora/photography/tips-and-solutions/how-photograph-solar-eclipse Also, feel free to drop a line to info@caasastro.org. This is the email address for the Central Arkansas Astronomical Society. There are a number of club members with much more astrophotography expertise than I do who could likely help you.
* If your camera is a DSLR then with the filter on the camera you don't want to wear the glasses at the same time while viewing thru the viewfinder. * But if your camera is a point and shoot type that has the viewfinder separate from the camera lens then hold one side of your glasses in front of the viewfinder. Or if you have an extra pair of glasses cut out one of the lens and tape it over the viewfinder. * Another thing you might try is get a piece of cardboard maybe 8-1/2 x 11 inch cut a hole for the lens and viewfinder and put it in front of your camera so you won't be looking at the sun around the sides of the camera. * Make sure to put your camera in manual mode if it has that setting.
telx2010 We've been lied to and you need to read the book of Enoch/book of jubilees to learn the truth about the earth, sun and moon... THATS WHY! STOP LISTENING TO THESE SATANIC MEN OF DECEPTION! IT'S ALL LIES!
I realize the specific things have to occur in order to see a complete solar eclipse but why is there never a partial eclipse, meaning the moon passing across a portion of the sun but not blocking it?
Thats irrelevant. The lunar orbit is 2.5 million miles around! The moon is actually moving at 3,683 kph relative to the earth. And the earth rotates at 1,674 kph around itself. It takes us 12 hours (on the equator) to rotate 180° around the 12000 km to the other side of the earth. For the moon it takes 14 days to orbit through the same angular distance. If you draw a line (or a shadow) straight out from the sun, past the moon, it only takes the moon about 3 hours to cross the 12,000 km diameter of the Earth. Our rotation (in the same direction the shadow is moving) does slow the movement of the shadow a bit, but not nearly enough to make it seem to move toward the west.
irrelevant???? you agreed with what I said....180 degrees is HALF...24/12, 14/28 days or so, no matter I checked the NASA site and they show how it works....with the earth turning BACKWARDS
Dude don't you want to understand? Iam making it very simple. The Shadow of the moon passes faster across the Earth because it is moving faster compared to the earths rotation. Therefore the shadow moves from west to east.
I've a friend with 3+ acres just outside of Firth, Ne. She and her husband are hosting a feast/gathering and I'm THRILLED to have been invited! (easy parking and a SMALL crowd!) Email me at sueross68132@gmail.com if you wish to be included.....

Shad Ebinger Because we've been lied to and you need to read the book of Enoch/book of jubilees to learn the truth about the earth, sun and moon... THATS WHY! STOP LISTENING TO THESE SATANIC MEN OF DECEPTION! IT'S ALL LIES!
I've never even watched this video my friend. I don't listen to other men. I find what facts I can on my own. Which is, quite frankly hard to do since we've all been lied to for hundreds of years. How do I come out of this? A flat earth or a spherical earth, has no effect on my current state of poverty and oppression. Besides, God has already given me all that pertains unto life and godliness. Hard to be humble when you are a servant of the only living God and his Son Jesus Christ!
If the Earth rotates once every 24 hours. And the moon rotates the earth once every 27 days. How does the moon go from west to east across north america moving quicker than earth's rotation? Either this animation is done wrong or somebody acquired the wrong information
How does NASA explain that the moon is going from west to southeast? Can anyone explain it? For here I live, in Norway, the moon goes from east to west direction.
If you really want to impress me with the letters after your name, explain, using only official heliocentric speed, motion and velocity data, how the moon's shadow can move East across the US. Please don't reply by fallaciously comparing orbital velocity with angular speed, but using a proportionally accurate model. Thanks.
While it may not look like it upon a cursory glance, the moon really does orbit the Earth from west to east. Added to this is the fact that the planet Earth rotates in a west to east direction as well. These two things combine to form the illusion that things in our sky are traveling from east to west (i.e. sunrise/sunset, the motion of the stars over the course of a night, etc.) So, it is this orbital direction of the moon from west to east that causes us to see its shadow lagging behind it and sweeping across the Earth in a west to east direction whenever there is a solar eclipse.
Kimglenn Wolfe When I was a little kid in the 50's, schools had these hand cranked models. Sun Earth Moon. The Sun had a light bulb in it. The teacher would make a little plasticine man and illustrate the whole works.
Hmm so let me get this straight. The moon is over 2000 miles wide but it's shadow is around 65 miles wide? I would like to see a practical example of this in the real world. Also, how is it traveling West to east? Does the earth not spin to the east? It should this travel east to west if the only thing moving at any perceivable speed is the rotation of the earth. Very strange indeed. Science, should always question and test the norm.
Funny how he describes the path like a landfalling hurricane and how he uses the word TOTALITY!!. ' The path of TOTALITY will cut a swath across Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and so on..
So while the shadow tracks from West to east, we will still see the moon pass by from east to west. Something is wrong here but will reserve opinion til the day. For those in its path, checkout the direction of shadow from a fence post just before the eclipse. The more data gathered the better to understand the truth.
Just because parts of the United States sees the total eclipse, that doesn't mean that the entire country will see it. Such instances would pertain to the NYC area. Nothing will happen.
I don't get it: I can watch videos of it on TH-cam. Why do I need to burn fossil fuels, increasing global warming even more, just to go see this in person?
The inclination changes slowly over time, but is still not far from being five degrees to the ecliptic. A more significant effect is the apsidal precession. The orbit is elliptical, but the entire ellipse of the orbit rotates slowly, so that the line of nodes (the line connecting the points where the moon's orbit crosses the Earth's orbital plane) moves with respect to the stars. The line of nodes thus rotates slowly along the ecliptic for an observer on the Earth with a period of about 18.6 years.
MichalLewcz the moon is in an orbit. The movement of the moon's shadow across the Earth is opposite to the moon itself. To put it simply take your forearm and move your hand to the left in a circular motion. Your hand (the moon) moves left, while your elbow (the moon's shadow) goes to the right.
My Question is we were taught that the Earth Rotates from east to west and the moon the opposite direction now why is your globe rotating from west to east put it conveniently the shadow of the moon traveling from the western hemisphere of the united states towards the eastern hemisphere which does not make sense if the moon is traveling the opposite direction in this case the moon shadow should travel from the east hemisphere toward the west and again why is the shadow so small

She just appointed Wayne A. Johnson, the CEO of a trillion dollar student loan company, as the head of federal student aid.

26yrs ago My small private school shared my father's welding goggles(2 pairs) . It was awesome.
am ready..I sawed a eclipse when I was around 5 years old...this happened back in Mexico..so I live in noth Georgia that's going to be awesome.
I am so ready! I'll have a good seat here in central Iowa.
Just bought some solar eclipse glasses that's how ready I am! :)

excited to witness this. i am right out of paducah, ky, and have been asked questions regarding rv parking on my property! imagine that!
I have watched several SOLAR eclipses with my welding helmet with a #10 lens!
exactly! i rarely have to crank it past that to do any welding. 14 my ass, you aint gonna see shit with that!
This video by far is the best consise explanation of eclipse for lay persons that is informative and exciting to watch.

i got to see that effect (7:35) back in 94 hope to again this year :)
I wanna see! I will tell my dad to go on a road trip from Randolph, Massachusetts to wherever I will see it! Better get some sunglasses!
He does a great job on the video.... I have shared it with many people...

What kind of jet do you own. :-) I heard shadow bands are best seen on a large light or white colored surface like a driveway or road.
It's on my birthday and I live in one of the best places in the world to see it!!
In Albany, Or. Very excited!

PS, we were living in Baltimore Md. (60's or 70's)
Always wanted to see a Solar Eclipse
Solar glasses are incredibly cheap on Amazon. Can't wait!!!
great information here well done
Excellent video.
5:18 So annular eclipses blacken our sun and allow stars to shine through the sun and the moon, like in this picture?
Why does the shadow travel from west to east??
Is the forecast predicting no clouds in Nebraska?? 😎 😎
No one can forecast the cloud cover accurately enough to say there will be no clouds, although the late morning to early afternoon time in August in Nebraska tends to be clear to partly cloudy as a rule.
without a second thought the driest sky will be east of Cascade Mountains, the high deserts of eastern Oregon
Well, maybe yes and maybe no. The climatological forecast can be found here: www.eclipse2017.org/2017/weather/2017_clouds.htm
At first people were saying eastern nebraska was prime, now theyre saying western (panhandle)
Again, we won't know for certain until the morning of the eclipse, as cloud cover is very difficult to forecast.
Love his voice!
Yay I live in the path I'm so excited only 19 days away!!!
Would Atlanta Georgia have a great view ?
wasn't there an total annular eclipse viewable from Cedar City, Utah 5 to 10 years ago ?

Great information. Thank you.
Alan Williams sounds like the problem some welders have lol
I don't want to remember that crappy year of solar eclipse
this video is awesome
Earth spins counter-clockwise, so why would the Moons shadow pass from West to East? Surely it should be the other way round.
because the shadows movement is caused by the movement of the sun
Smedley Butler That's exactly right! The earth is NOT moving. The sun IS moving... It's the only real answer.

stationary earth and flat like the bible and Quran say god is the greatest

goin to yelow ston ?
I didn't know that the sun rises in the west and sets in the east this is a new one on me
This is a great show . I think you have a skill that others don't have. But it may be a change in
our way of live....
the moon orbits the earth the same way the earth spins? How does the shadow go from west to east?
Because the moons motion is faster than the earths rotation
NOT.......I thought the Earth was 24 hours, and the Moon was 30 days, how many times does the moon rise and set at night where you live?
Thats irrelevant. The lunar orbit is 2.5 million miles around! The moon is actually moving at 3,683 kph relative to the earth. And the earth rotates at 1,674 kph around itself. It takes us 12 hours (on the equator) to rotate 180° around the 12000 km to the other side of the earth. For the moon it takes 14 days to orbit through the same angular distance. Dude don't you want to understand? Iam making it very simple. The Shadow of the moon passes faster across the Earth because it is moving faster compared to the earths rotation. Therefore the shadow moves from west to east.

Should the direction of the sun not be coming the other way or is the eclipse making the earth rotate anti clockwise
Why does the earth turn the wrong way? 5:10
I need a 58mm solar filter for my camera can anyone give me some links to reference to

Good point, why is it going backwards?

solar eclipse is time to search the feet of Virgo for a sign not otherwise visible due to sun's brightness.
There will also be a shooting star, close to it.

Aye he's going to my state
Everything is gonna be daaaaark :
I don't get it: I can watch videos of it on TH-cam. Why do I need to burn fossil fuels, increasing global warming even more, just to go see this in person?
the earth would have to be spinning the other way for this to make any sense!!!!!!!!!!!! hahaha
thanks thanks thanks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the moon has a 9.25 and a 18.5 yr Cycle .it doesn't stay 5 degrees
Those cycles do not change the moons 5 deg angle.
Darren Bly he's basically correct over Time angles change .. earths will change which will change moon's angle
7:35 - 8:34 ...trippy as f*ck
It's on my birthday
Math is God. Differential equations rule everything.
the end was last week. .,.....😎😃😎😃😎😃🙂😃🙂😎😄😄😄
see u there
If only I lived in America
You will have an eclipse soon.
Wow, the shadow moving from West to East??????? The standard model does NOT support this. Something very fishy
MichalLewcz the moon is in an orbit. The movement of the moon's shadow across the Earth is opposite to the moon itself. To put it simply take your forearm and move your hand to the left in a circular motion. Your hand (the moon) moves left, while your elbow (the moon's shadow) goes to the right.
howcome the shadow travels from west to east and not from east to west?
Maybe they won't Chem trail us that day
I'm in ga so I will see the whole eclipse..🤗
How can the moon come from the west.....or the sun...that dont sound right unless we get the eclips on the east coast first.
El orden sientifico del eclipsis el rrecorrido planetario
My Question is we were taught that the Earth Rotates from east to west and the moon the opposite direction now why is your globe rotating from west to east put it conveniently the shadow of the moon traveling from the western hemisphere of the united states towards the eastern hemisphere which does not make sense if the moon is traveling the opposite direction in this case the moon shadow should travel from the east hemisphere toward the west and again why is the shadow so small
The shadow is small because the diameter of the sun is 400 times the diameter of the moon.
if you cast a shadow on a ball from a light source that travels east to west, you will get a shadow that goes west to east. ya dumb fuck.
they have no schools where you're from Zakade?
On the day before and after the eclipse it is logical to assume that the moon will pass directly beside the sun?
PanzerBuyer
Please spend a bit more time watching more basic videos on what an eclipse is, so you won't have to ask this question.
It's a Yes or No question Sir...
