Il Trap is a legend...he cares about the team and the fans, he has learned to speak a little bit of every team's language that he has managed. Forza Il Trap, good luck to Ireland in the Euro!
Yes, it's amazing how many Irish people complain about him "not speaking English" - there was even an article about it yesterday in a newspaper under the heading, "Sorry Trap, but not learning English speaks volumes about your priorities". However, he does speak English, not fluently perhaps, but as you say, how many of his critics can speak another language, however imperfectly?
I love how they treat the interpreter, like an actual human being!!! Ryan even greets her and gives her kisses. Very rare for TV stations. :-) Well done!!!
Italian and Irish people have had a tight relationship with each other for many years. In America there are lots italians and Irish who married each other.
Jeez man, like all men of his generation he probably had to drop out from school when he was 10-12 and get a job to help his family to bring food on their table. He is 73 years old, he started learning German at 57, Portuguese at 65 and English at 69 (this is an old interview btw). I think this is good enough for a man like him. I'd like to add that I very rarely came across an English-speaking person who could speak Italian better than he can speak English. Give the old man a break..
The Trap...he's a living legend! I don't think I would be able to learn a new language at 60 or 70 years old, you've to be something special...and The Trap is one of them!
Happy for Trap that they qualified for Euros. After what happened to him and italy in 2002 WC and against France last year...him and his team deserve this!
Dont worry, when he speaks italian we (italians) cant understand him either... We used to jokes about him. But he's a football legends that's for sure.
Ah man common, you try learn italian when your 70 years old and see how ya get on! and would you rather play nice football and not qualify for competitions or play defensive football and qualify, were Ireland not Spain, the man has done the best job since Jackie Charlton!
@magickscruples I italian we use that gesture not only for money, but also for conveying the idea of something you cannot really touch, difficult to grasp, like a feeling... amazing eh?
@magickscruples I agree we italians have our own "sign language". doing the "finger-thumb" rub close to your mouth means something dealing with the "taste" or "flavour", not Money... btw Trap has always been one of a kind... even when he speaks italian you don't really understand him! :)
I'm italian, money hand gesture, if is slow and goes wit an eye shrink means also, my core my inside. That's my guess... i don't think that Trap is so greedy, he takes 1000x my salary but what we can say about... dont'know... Balotelli? :)
It's a gesture that we italians make when we're searching for the right word (near the mouth, like we're savouring words). Money symbol is different: more tight, and just with the thumb and the index finger. If you're not italian you cant get gesture subtleties... :D
Come te quindi.Non so se sai l'italiano, ma l'inglese non lo sai. Bravissimo il Trap, te alla sua età sarai a mangiare il brodino(anche io probabilmente). Rispetto massimo per il Trap e la sua voglia di mettersi sempre in gioco.
I saw that interview that night and did a bit of a double take. Manuela is really attractive and she was so pleasant and smiling. I'm sure she didn't mean the comment about "too long" in Dublin the way Tubridy took it up.
trap finds it hard enof to communicate to the irish, and then he's gt turbridy jus disrubuting everything and making it even harder for the audience to gather what trap saying. a pointless interview got no information on the man himself. trapattoni = football legend
il suo calcio è una lingua a parte... secondo te nelle grandi squadre con giocatori da ogni parte del mondo, come fanno a capirsi? traduttori a manetta... sheva dopo 7 anni ancora non sapeva mettere assieme una frase italiana...
There is nothing wrong with the job that Trapattoni has done.but twill fans go to the games. That could cost the FAI allot of money. I would like to see Ireland(fai) adapt a philosophy of football like Spain were the name of the game is passing football. It would be impossible to expect today's players to do this as they are not skillful enough. But if a programs was start for children in about 15 years time skill would start to show in the emerging players. May be I am a dreamer).
dont blame him blame Delaney and co who are fat cats with no accountability ..they re elected him...He was a terrible manager but he done his best im sure..but at least now we have Oneil and Keane they seem to be doing the magic...world cup 2018
I have a dilemma because on one level he appears as a charming nice peaceful man but as a coach i simply despise him. The fact that he has such a closed mentality when it comes to selecting actual good creative players. Any other coach in the world would have mcclean, coleman and mccarthy as shoeins for an irish squad. As for his tactics its purely hail mary football, yet his record is decent. Ill never hate him due to his personality but his tactics are anti football and outdated. Time to leave

ALL THE GAMES WILL BE WON TRAPATTONI
Complimenti per le scarpe del interprete...
I saw that interview that night and did a bit of a double take. Manuela is really attractive and she was so pleasant and smiling. I'm sure she didn't mean the comment about "too long" in Dublin the way Tubridy took it up.
What's the Italian for Hubba Hubba?
-Don't say cat if you don't have it in a sac!- cit. Trapattoni
In his younger days, when he was a hustler with the ladies he was known as the 'clap trap'
haha 2:31 i thought he was saying "in my life, i look only for... money"

The Trapattoni's Amry to win the Euros!
wat does this have to do with football? are we gonna have irish/italian players taking over the msl?
ahahaha il trap non ha capito un cazzo quando parlavano gli altri due!!
trap finds it hard enof to communicate to the irish, and then he's gt turbridy jus disrubuting everything and making it even harder for the audience to gather what trap saying. a pointless interview got no information on the man himself.
trapattoni = football legend
He doesn't give a fuck about the translator ahahah :D
That's not true.
Let's try to find another excuse.
il suo calcio è una lingua a parte... secondo te nelle grandi squadre con giocatori da ogni parte del mondo, come fanno a capirsi? traduttori a manetta... sheva dopo 7 anni ancora non sapeva mettere assieme una frase italiana...
Very uncomfortable moment at 7.30... Made me cringe a bit... 'why are you picking on me'....
ALL HAIL TRAP
don t say cat if u don t have in the sac!
st. trapattoni
On of the all time great managers, I don't think he cares as much about the national side though : (
alla sua età staresti al circolo te
I think that, given the circumstances, his english is way better than hers. She is quite nice tho
.
minchia il TRAP
surely you can't be serious . .
Incredible!...talk better irish!...for us italian is impossible understand him! ...ah aha ah aha ah aha ah :-)
italian its Spanish started by Real Sociedad fans and evolved from there your welcome
Any one else think Trapattoni's interpreter looks like Tony Soprano's daughter on 'The Sopranos'?
There is nothing wrong with the job that Trapattoni has done.but twill fans go to the games. That could cost the FAI allot of money.

Trap is a gent but his style of football is very boring.
terribbile
ma come cazzo fanno a capirlo i giocatori dell'Irlanda? Dio santo che inglese scarso!!
Muppet . . . . . . Absolutely nothing else to say
dont blame him blame Delaney and co who are fat cats with no accountability ..they re elected him...He was a terrible manager but he done his best im sure..but at least now we have Oneil and Keane they seem to be doing the magic...world cup 2018
He can't even speak in Italian, how do you expect him to speak English.
(i'm Italian)
And you clearly don't have command over the English language. "Speak English" and not "talk English".
I have a dilemma because on one level he appears as a charming nice peaceful man but as a coach i simply despise him.
