My 1977 Suzuki GT750A is in the sort of condition where you could ride it two hundred miles tomorrow or keep it polished in my garage. Machines like this are fetching high teens thousands of pounds in recent times. I paid £3500 for it in rough condition 14 years ago. Sizeable investments in rare parts has made it a thing of beauty to own and reliable, if heavy and slow, to ride.

I've owned a B M W K75c for 15 years never had any probs with it , you can do a service on it for £50 that's oil filter & plugs renew radiator fluid , and check gear box and shaft drive , all good , just renewed the battery and starter relay , very strong bike , in good nick considering its 35 years old , passes its M O T every time , and I'd be lucky to get £ 1500 , and yet some bikes that go for stupid money and aren't in as good a nick . 😀

I had a 1981 Goldwing here in Canada. I bought it in 1991 for $2100 and it was like new. The days of buying a Norton Dominator or BSA A7 for 50 quid are long gone. I paid 800 quid for a brand new Rickman Bonneville in 74.

I run Suzuki GS 850 with a Squire sidecar, the motors are pretty dam strong as mine has been around the clock and climbing, it has been re rung, three cam chains and a starter clutch assembly. Some parts now are getting hard to find and it's expensive buying from America which is where lots of second hand stuff is. My bike is a s rough as a bears arse as it is transport and gets run daily year round all weathers.

The yam u.s custom has 3 pipes and 3 carbs which makes it a triple which is 1 less than 4 cylinders Ha Ha Ha the count taught me when I was younger...... the cortina , not the red one , you described was a GXL a GSX is a Suzuki . Cor it's a mine field out in the classic world . Thanks for showing us around . Yes what were old bangers for 50 sovs is coz they weren't worth a w@nk then . Nowadays people are buying Marinas and allagroes as classis when they were shite when brand new ... Bonkers..

Good to see the vid & shame about the prices, but they continue to climb. Thinking this recession may see more older bikes being dragged from sheds for sale.

Unfortunately there really are no bargains to be had in the classic world, think that's why brands like Royal Enfield are doing so well atm, all the classic looks with reliability for not a lot of money. Hope you get sorted with a project

10:30 minutes in - that's a basic 2 litre or 2.2 litre Rover. I can't remember now. I had one and it was an automatic in Luna Grey. That's why the badges are missing, to try to disguise its gutless pedigree. The give away is the dashboard. All the 3.5 litre models, and the 2.2 litre now I come to think about it [ so this must be a 2 litre model and an SC at that - Single Carb where the 2.2 litre was a TC - Twin Carb. ] , had the much more fanciful dial adorned dashboard that incorporated the rev counter. The panels do bolt on, but only the bonnet and boot are aluminium leaving everything else to create rust streaks that ran down the side of the panels before they eventually fell off all by themselves, a feature that Rover was properly able to integrate in to the new up coming Rover SD1 that replaced this model.

For over 45 years I drive and ride older cars and bikes. They cost an arm and a leg to purchase and maintain. Wehn you want to trade in or sell off they are the wrong make, type, colour, options, what have you. I fully understand the bad reputation of car and bike dealers!

The two GPz900s were well beyond saving, I wouldn't even take parts from those. I've owned two of these in the past, monster performance for their time and a landmark in motorcycle development - the first 'modern' sports bike format. Only about ten years on from the Z1 but light years ahead in specification and performance. However, unlike the Z1, Gpz prices have gone nowhere and nice ones still go for less than £4k. Hard to fathom, really.

@@adrianrouse5148 Where will the demand be coming from ? In the U.K. where is video is set, very few young adults are taking up motorcycling. The majority of riders are middle aged. As far as classic bikes are concerned, a large numbers have been imported from the U.S.A. The majority owned by Middle aged riders, who in a few years will be giving up riding, or moving to smaller bikes. Also, The government seems to be moving against the internal combustion engine. As I stated, in fifteen to twenty years, no one will want them.

@@p.istaker8862I think in relation to the bulk of bikes, you’ll be proved right. There will be some models which will find favour as collectors items and they’ll be through the roof.
      Usage isn’t an important factor.

No offence but I think you're being unrealistic with the price you want to pay. All those went for what I would consider actually quite low prices in today's market, even for restoration projects which these were. Sounds to me that what you want is an acceptable looking, running and riding Jap classic which I'd be surprised if you got for less than 2 grand for plus 500cc bikes.

@@vroomroom1 it's stupid at the moment. Even stuff that a couple of years ago would have been about a grand is hitting 2 plus for some right dogs. Saw an admittedly well restored Yamaha 'fizzy' go for nearly 7 grand and things like C70s and 90s are well over 1500 for resto projects. Stupid money for what were 50 quid field bikes not so long ago.
