    Water? What kind of water, tap water, mineral water, distilled water?
    I used to use tap water on my monitor and it leaves some streaks than can be seen on dark scenes of games.
    Now using a 50-50 alcohol and distilled water and it doesn't leave streaks anymore... but am I going to hurt my monitor by using alcohol solution on it?

    • @daniel.pendzich
      @daniel.pendzich 10 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      I've been using alcohol to clean all my electronics and screens for the past 5 years and have never had an issue and I'm really picky about keeping my screen crystal clear. I think it's fine, although I don't have any research to back that up other than personal experience.

    • @12x8u
      @12x8u 10 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Water doesn't work for me. It's always leaving streaks.
      I use lots of 70% Alcohol and a micro fibre cloth. Never had any problems with the anti glare coating of my Samsung TFTs. Only the plastic bezel may get some grey shadows but as long as it doesn't completely dissolve, I don't care.

    • @DeFXX10
      @DeFXX10 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Distilled water is best but I find that a 1/3 mix of alcohol and distilled gets me good results. I also use a small spray bottle so I don't have to make up the solution to often.

      Alcohol is fine. DON'T USE AMMONIA! That is what is in windex.
      Basically the rule is, in electronics, never use ammonia. The main reason for that is it dissolves alkali metals and becomes quite conductive.
      Since anti-glare screens are typically a chemical coating of magnesium fluoride, and magnesium is an alkaline metal, you can see the problem here.

    I almost go Super Saiyan when someone touches my monitor. I got new monitor recently and it's perfectly clean, except for normal dust particles. I had a friend over and we were playing DOOM Eternal and he went to touch the screen and I immediately yelled "DON'T YOU DARE TOUCH THE SCREEN!" He about shat himself. I can't stand when people don't respect other's tech property or property in general. It should be common sense not to touch a monitor or TV screen. Sadly, people are lacking in the common sense department these days...

    One: i would never use paper based material to clean any screen or class surface, because the fibers in the paper may couse microscopic scratches, that will get more intence over time.
    Two: the isopropyl alcohol is great for glass surfaces, but I would recommend using rubber gloves, because your skin can absorb the alcohol, and it is very bad for your health.
    But still a nice guide, always enjoy watching :)

      Aaah. I just see a lot of these buckets of(what appears to be normal temp) water. It's obviously cold, because of the reactions, I just have seen so many of these that I had to ask if the people who started ALS challenge changed some of the rules, probably because people were dumping truckloads of ice on their friends and sending them to the hospital.

    I need to know how to properly maintain my PS4.

    • @liblope
      @liblope 10 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Get a can of compressed air, and start spraying that in to the PS4's Air vents on the back. as for laser cleaning i think there are kits that you have to use, but im not sure about that.

      Sell the PS4, and invest in a PC.

      If your fibre cloth is damp in the slightest it will become a streak making machine. Figured this out the hard way.

    Would have laughed so hard if his screen broke at 0:48 when he hit it. "Now, glass screens are used on phones so they are harder - oh.. oh.. okay then. Guess not."

    For Monitors - White Vinegar and Distilled Water. 1:3 ratio is perfect, no streaks or smearing looking at the screen at different angles 4 inches from the screen and from different light sources.

    Go to your nearest grocery store, buy “Pledge Multi Surface” get a microfiber towel spray the multi surface on the microfiber then start gently cleaning the dirt of your monitor or phone. Trust me it looks better then new!

    I use distilled water (for iron and alike) and sometimes isoprophyl alcohol. Very clean water and that alcohol is very good at cleaning telescope optics. Does also very well for displays.

    Water is all i have ever used to clean my 5 year old antiglare Dell 3008WFP and it still looks as good as the day i got it. On shiny surfaced monitors i have cleaned with water and used car wax lol. I have tested this on old devices with no ill effects and it has been awesome for the shiny non antiglare plastic screens.

    I bought a screen cleaning kit at Micro Center for like $6. Comes with a good size bottle of alcohol and ammonia free solution and a microfiber cloth. Works perfect for monitors, TV's, etc. and is extremely safe.

    Holy crap on a stile, who knew a coffee filter and a bit of water could clean off a good portion of gunk off the screen?
    10/10, would brew my coffee with it again.
