Maybe the script could be like, if you kill one queen 30% of the mist density is reduced. When you kill 3 queens, 90% is reduced. But for every queen killed, the next queen also gets 20-30% more difficult to kill, with more health and more attack aggression (kinda like how roaches become more resistant to what kills them).
Installing a mod that increases wisp light by a factor has made Mistlands way more enjoyable. It’s certain easier and an advantage but I find the vanilla wisp light way to weak for no good reason
The mist is cool as you first enter the zone. Adds danger and intrigue to the Mistlands-- I'll always remember hearing that Gjall as it emerged from the mist in front of me, very cool. That said, over time it just becomes annoying. Other areas with zone-based mechanics to gate progression (e.g., freezing in the Mountains) can eventually be overcome and you're able to enjoy the feeling of "conquering" that zone. I feel like the Mistlands just removes that from the equation and makes it perpetually frustrating. Some in-game way to clear the mist from an area would be ideal (Queen kill? Something else?) to restore that arc.
I feel like it could be something to do with the Surtling South. Sure a wisp light gives you access to the area like frost mead gives access to the mountain, but bringing the surtling boss core to the dvergers should purge large portions of mist or something.
@@Ruhrich92 I like that analogue of wisp light to frost mead, and the ability to craft something further with a material only gained from either the Mistlands or later zones/biomes (as we did with wolf and other pelts for frost-resistant capes). Hoping that can make it into the next update :)

I wish there was some tower on each mistlands island that you could craft or donate to, to perhaps pay the mist away on the island or turn the mist on or off. Perhaps doing something for the dwarves so their only purpose isn't to be stolen from or killed.
Others have mentioned killing the queen to clear the mist, or a large area of it. My twist would be killing the queen grants you an item to construct a beacon and the recipe for building an altar. Once you place the beacon into the alter, the mist is gone. Want the challenge of the mist to return? Remove the altar and place it in a chest, and the mist returns.
I believe the devs hemmed themselves into a corner by calling the biome Mistlands in the first place. The new biome is truly stunning, but they've had to hide it in that oppressive green and purple fog. Been there, got the gear and killed the Queen, but I've had enough of the bloody place already. I hope they can come up with a better solution before the game's full release. I've never used any mods for Valheim, but this one is mighty tempting.
Honestly the way the mistlands looked before the mistlands update with the huge trees and spider webs and more spooky look looked way better, and was also not complete ass to get around in and didn't have the shitty mist, complete downgrade to what they had going.
I would like that you can upgrade your mistlight on the craftingtable to increase the range. And the queen should drop an item that can be crafted to a big light that erase the mist in a very large area. This way you have the challenge, you have progress to make it easier and you have the opportunity to erase the mist to enjoy this beautiful biom and can build in it.
The forsaken power from Yagluth could be remade to clear the mist for X amounts of time. Or maybe crafting a helmet that lets you see through the mist (i.e removing it)
Whoop, this is the mod I was waiting for. I knew I was going to hate Mistlands, every iteration of the development of the biome was pitch black - something I cannot stand in games or movies. The final release was even worse than I feared, not only pitch black but with impassable terrain too. I got around the grindy climbing by flying everywhere in Mistlands, and will continue to do so. But even with the Wisp and Mistwalker, I couldn't see five yards in front of me. With this mod, the game becomes playable again. Many thanks to both the modder for removing the mist and to Jiroc for letting us know.
I love it. I really wanted to build something nice here, but the mist just sort of destroys the aesthetic of it all. I wasn't able to reliably dismiss it away - since the torches don't clear a column, and the verticality of it is still there. I wish I could make something that would just push it away over huge distances.
Wife and I were ready to quit after playing in the Mistlands due to the uselessness of the wisp, and how tedious traversing the Mistlands was. Some will say, "Hey, it's called the MISTlands for a reason!" I counter with, "Ya, but it's mistLANDs, so it shouldn't be JUST mist." I found and installed this mod, and we both enjoy the game much more. The cool thing is that even with this mod installed there is still more fog/mist in the Mistlands than other areas, so it still retains enough mist to justify keeping the biome name. :)

I always have to type; devcommands, debugmode, tod .5, env clear, ...every single time i start my game, because i'm blind in my left eye, and the mist makes it impossible to see through. This would help greatly!

It would be great if they added some way to clear the mist more substantially, maybe very rare items in the mines that can be used to create a SUPER wisplight that eliminates mist in a very large area, I love the mist as a gate for progression and to add some intrigue and danger in exploring at first but after a while its a shame that the hands down best looking biome is just always hidden away

I just started playing this game again. Should i be higher level to land on the mistlands? I found it today and didnt want to get too close just in case.
Probably the most frustrating biome, even worse than the swamp. So you should be in max upgraded plains gear and advancing carefully until you can craft good mistlands gear. Normal mistlands gear helps a lot. Also, crafting the magic gear and learning how to properly use it will make mistlands very easy to go through.
this game NEEDS a upgraded wisp light. like different teirs you unlock via killing the queen or getting seeker soilder heads. the mistlands is... well the name. misty. and it really ruins the feel for me.
I loved this game up to the Mountains biome. The mountains feels hugely empty and far from fun. The plains was a very slight improvement and the mistlands was utter garbage. I spent 2 hours in the mistlands and then uninstalled the game. I'll come back in 2 years when they dumpster fire has been fixed. The mists is annoying af and the terrain is a joke. Feels like a 6 yo made the terrain.

You can bind all those command to one key so you only have to push one key for all of them. Just bind the same key with each command individually
