I wish they would have added it in the game... The creepy, paranormal monstery side of RDR2 is my absolute favorite.

@@Thatguy-ki3po My biggest fear is the ocean, and mythical creatures that were "made up" to scare sailors back in the day. But the thing is, 95% of the ocean is left undiscovered. So... what if there really *are* creatures as big and horrifying as the one in folklore? Stuff like that peak my biggest interest. That's why I wish rockstar would have done more with the ocean and ocean creatures. But I can see where you are coming from as well.

@@Thatguy-ki3po Not really there are actual ghosts, ghost trains, time travelers and demonic curses. A large killable monster isn't as paranormal as a ghost trains. For all we know the river monster was just an eel or something since the loot items could have been placeholder items.

The game itself was pretty huge on first public release as it was & could be the reason why so much was partially developed before they stopped & cut it out of gameplay. Then again, since some fragments of the programming were left in, that still leaves them something to finish up & include as future DLC too...Or we can at least hope for it.
My guess is that, people at Rockstar studios, perhaps watched a lot of myth hunters videos regarding their games, so they decided to put as much as supernatural as they can, either that or because they created the "Strange Man" for first redemption, so why not go all out for second one.
@@nnnnmhughuuhhjiijj9457 I think they put so much into RDR2 because there's a lot of weird stuff in RDR1...Since RDR2 is (chronoligically) occuring *before* RDR1, they had to provide some "backstory setup" for stuff that was in RDR1. But they also provided a bunch of new mysteries & background on top of the "setup" material.
Just imagine all the stuff we STILL haven't found or things we have that are connected in ways we don't realise yet

@@davidmauricio6630 I'm pretty sure it was supposed to occur in an area in New Austin but it was cut because they heavily cut the parts of the story where you make it to New Austin as Arthur.

They should have kept this as a small easter egg/sighting that is hard to spot and only happens once in a while on random conditions. It would have made sense to use this because there was a legend in RDR1 that a river monster was in the game.

That tripod sound is so badass, i have to say. When i first saw that scene with them breaking the trees coming over the hill at night...they are very menacing and the sound they make is on point.

Honestly they can go all out with the undead nightmare since the first did have mythical creatures (the four horsemen horse's, chubacabra, big foot, unicorn, etc.) So in RDR2's undead nightmare, you can go all out with those things. But ofc it'll be too big and most likely will take A LONG development since you gotta place files and such.

my idea is that it would've been linked to a stranger mission or something where you investigate it to find out its just someone's version of a submarine or someone trying to spook people, especially cause that sound is very similar to a foghorn, and you can even hear some sort of metal reverb in it
they've re-used the river monster in the new GTA Online update. they've changed the model name, but the textures still use their old RDR2 names.

I know it’s a river monster but here’s a theory: maybe since we originally were able to go back to guarma, maybe we had access to the ocean, therefore maybe we could come across it or maybe even we spotted when on a boat to Guarma or Free-roaming in the ocean.
Originally when the ship sinks Arthur was supposed to fight some sharks.

Yeah the worst part is we'll likely never know the truth behind any of this, so all the concept art/notes for Easter eggs will likely collect dust in some storage room. We also probably won't see a single player dlc since they are too focused on the money printer that is gtav online.

@@TheCaWaLa Yes but I was referring to them specifically forsaking red dead 2 single player content in favor of gtavo and rd2o. Moreso gtavo since it makes way more money than rd2o by a long shot. Also yes I am aware they they have multiple teams but what matters right now is rd2 content because gtaVI isn't coming out for another few years.
This guy is amazing and deserves more attention. He put in the effort to investigates and solve mysteries. He even is patient enough to wait for perfect scenery. He will wait for a storm to happen to make creepy things creepier.
I think it should've been like the ghost train, an encounter that only happens once (in my experience) if you go far enough on a boat or if you use binoculars you would be able to see a tentacle or something similar emerge from the water, maybe even drag a boat (not yours) into the water

Since you could have looted the monster, that means it probably could be turned into a trinket and judging by the type of creature it is, maybe the trinket reduces the use of stamina whilst swimming.
So John now loses stamina in 1 second instead of instantly XD

What if originally, the river monster was going to be in the ship wreck mission? They might have deemed it too unrealistic and just changed it to a bad storm. The wreck itself didn’t last very long, perfect amount of time for the short audio of the monster
As for being able to “loot” the river monster: I wonder if you could attack it, causing it to lose parts of its body (which you could skin) before it escapes. Having crustacean meat as the reward leads me to believe it could have been a giant crab (a roaring one at that), as crabs can regrow limbs when they lose them. I wish we had a PED model to view! 🤔 🦀

Im like 75% sure the crustacean meat was a place holder for the intended loot drops from the monster was. like the lion's paw or other legendary animal parts. If we consider it most likely never had a finished PED model it's more than likely mostly unfinished

With all the ghosts, UFO's etc. Its more like Weird West than Wild West.
The thing is, giant river monsters like Nessy aren't realistic at all for that time period. Completely non existent. Ghosts are completely non existent.
Aliens on the other hand probably exist and I wouldnt be surprised if some civilizations were capable of travelling from star to star the same way we make a trip to the grocery store.

I would almost agree but so much ends up being cut for strange reasons, I mean you can meet a time traveler and discover demonic curses. I'm pretty sure a river monster or a giant wouldn't be too out of place as Easter eggs.

Honestly, a single player DLC that just adds a bunch of new side quests, cosmetics, guns and easter eggs would be amazing, but sadly will probably never happen.
Gotta hate that rockstar puts all of there effort into online almost want this game to be made in the same time as rdr1 and gta 4 when online wasnt a big thing

Just imagine during the fishing outing with Dutch and Hosea, all three suddenly comment on those growling noises.
I do like the theory about the ship attack to Guarma. Chaos aboard the ship and the sound of that tripod-roar. As Arthur dives into the ocean, you see the moonlight shinging and lighting up a small patch of water and see a really BIG dark outline of a creature swimming towards/under the ship. Arthur hears the tripod-roar one last time as he loses consciousness.....

Strang man is much much better, but cut mr boss some slack. He does show some gameplay. So what if he makes post oddly after strange man, with less cinematic feel. And so what if he does clickbait titles, and turns a 5 min vid into 15 minutes. And so what, we always root for npc’s to kill him in his videos

They might as well have all been deleted entirely since r* didn't care to put most of the finished content in the actual game. Most of them are left as dead ends or nothing more than a point of interest bc r* wanted to butcher this game.

it would've been perfect to add in flat iron lake, the lake lacks any content and a river monster that appears at night would be great. having a fog set in and a red dot on your minimap fast approach your boat and go under your boat and you see the monster and your character exclaims something explicit, then after 1 minute it'll do the same thing again and roar as a warning to go away, after 1 more minute of you not returning to the shore it will attack you. (this would happen if you try to leave the map, or go too far out in the lake at night)
Personally, since it drops crab meat, I immediately thought of a mission involving a u-boat or something and a battle against a giant lobster as a finale

Bayou ghost, vampire, time traveling mo-fo from the rock collecting mission, and everything else supernatural in the game: laughs in not fitting in.

they wanted to add Nessie aka the Loch Ness monster or something similar judging by the cigarret cards. im sure of it. but they didnt because of the reasons you said sir. Adding monsters would be too much for this game. Micah is already enough :D

Now, i'm not sure if you're being serious or not but like, there's UFOs, Monsters that are believed to be giants/bigfoots, ghosts, a vampire, and Nightfolk are incredibly strong and terrifying, so i don't think adding monsters is too much, not only that but the strange man in the game also. The Strange Man isn't really a monster but he does teleport behind you and disappears when you look behind him, also not to mention the Giant Snake easter egg
@@lempysummers7352 im serious but i also wanted to joke about micah. i think the theory is right. they wanted to add a river monster but it would probably be a little hard to add such a large model in game. plus they had to focus on the storyline.As the video shows us, the cigarret cards are the proof.

For some reason, I imagined it had a crocodile head.
Perhaps it could've looked like some kind of Nothosaurus-like creature (if that's how it's name is spelled) with a more crocodilian appearance, built for more of a life further inland compared to living on the beach. The idea that it's meat is inedible or useless is also not too far-fetched, but the crab meat could be from something it eats or something it may have recently fed on.
This is just what I think it could've been, though.

This reminds me of a dream I had a long time ago where there was a secret fish to be caught in Animal Crossing and it was this _abomination_ that looked like a dark brown, truck-sized catfish with the face of a deformed man and what looked like human legs sprouting from behind it.
With Rockstar having strong ties to Scotland it was probably meant to be a reference to the Loch Ness Monster

But in my opinion if the sea monster drops crastation meat and is really massive my guess its some form of giant lobster sort of like Ebirah from the Godzilla franchise.
