I feel like you missed the most important point. It has to be ENTERTAINING. It’s the entertainment industry and when they try to inject social messages, it often messes up the entertainment part as well as angering the customers that it supposed to entertain. It goes against the ENTERTAINING part. If you don’t say it, your video feels somehow empty and devoid of the subplot/main point. When I first saw the trailer and the girl let go of the hand and fell down into a spaceship when they could’ve climbed back up, my thought was, “ we’re supposed to like these idiots who willingly want to plummet to their deaths? The writer didn’t learn that the first rule to sympathetic characters are that they’re supposed to be likeable??? It bothered me on a subconscious level that we’re supposed to sympathize with idiots. Save the cat is a thing, and it’s not go leap off a cliff based on a feeling that a spaceship will miraculously appear beneath you to save your life and the life of your best bud. And I thought - this game was written by Hacks. Goes without saying, Whatever politics that allowed the hacks to be hired in the first place, that political mechanism needs to be stopped. But, in the end, the game has to be ENTERTAINING. Whatever social messaging has to be subservient to the entertainment aspect and if it goes against the entertaining aspect, it has to be cut out like a cancer. Broke back mountain worked even though it was literally the gayest movie ever made because the social message serviced the entertainment aspect of telling a simple love story. The problem is when the social messaging supersedes the entertainment aspect which automatically makes whatever game or movie or story extreme and un-entertaining.
THIS^ its all fun to joke and dogpile on a bad game, but at least if your making a review of something, actually look into why it failed instead of just parroting the same shtick *dei and woke* all the salttubers have been doing to drive viewers to their channel/videos. but i guess DEI is the new scapegoat, and people are going to keep throwing it around to cover for them just making bad products in general.
I disagree with the first statement, i think that no matter the concept or odea you have, if your execution is good then the result will be good, obviously games are for the entertainment but you can still have a message in it that doesn't ruin the game, i know this is an example of a series and not a game but i still feel like this fits, Blue eye Samurai is an amazing show with great writing and there's a lot of racism and sexism (it's set in old era japan) but it's handled as a part of the story that actually contributes to the narrative But yeah if you "inject" a social message where it's nonsensical then guess what happens
They were trying to attract women. The problem with women is that in user groups/surveys they will say that they want overweight, black and "alternative" heroes and when they get shown an overweight woman they will say that they want to play as her. Then when no one is looking they are going to start up Overwatch instead and pick Mercy. Which is what happened. Companies need to look at what women do and not what they say.
@@sickbozo8152 More like just look at what women actually consume and expect focus group feedback to not be sincere. I bet if they made the levels look like they came from the Barbie Movie trailer and made characters look like the most selling barbie and disney characters (frozen for example) then they would attract a lot of women. The thing I don't understand companies don't realize when they pander to these groups.... take Acolyte for example... all these people on social media screaming to the heavens about how great the show was and how anyone who didn't like it are misogynistic and hate mongers.... so many people ready to take to the internet and bitch and complain about how it was cancelled.... if they all had actually watched the show they claim is a masterpiece it would have had the viewer count needed for a season two. It's like when Bill Burr was trying to explain the WNBA. LOL
I believe this problem will eventually have to fix itself simply because no company nor investor has bottomless pockets to sink millions of dollars for failing projects. Woke does not sell, it has been proven over and over again. The sooner these companies realize this and go back to making normal games, the better. But they will have to eventually come to terms with the fact that there is no future in being woke.

Its not about profits ita about the message. They gonna push it untill ALL games become woke so you will have no choice but to play woke only games. Blackrock has endless pockets
The damage and good will that so many companies have utterly burned, is incalculable at this point. I can't imagine when I might even remotely be interested in another Sony product again, after the years of their pandering this garbage. Along with many other companies. They could release the sexiest, hottest, most unwoke game ever made, tomorrow, and I'd still second guess supporting them financially. It's not just the studios which are floundering, that are a problem, it's how they are going to win back people's trust and support, that is the biggest problem of all. They're quite literally trying to force people to accept and live under a certain ideology, and I can't think of many worse attacks, than that on your beliefs. These companies haven't even begun to feel the reckoning that awaits them.
A total change in leadership at the top would be a great start. I also want them to stop locking PC game sales to counties that have PSN support. No reason to lock half the globe out of buying single player games, it's just stupid.

Even less successful than Concorde. I mean, as a European, if you call something Concord (even without the "e") I'm automatically going to associate it with massive failure.
This game was dead on arrival. This will need to be studied because this game’s downfall was because of a perfect storm of being too late to the hero shooter market, not being F2P, and yes even us gamers/consumers bad mouthing it before it even launched. I played the beta. Concord is a good game, not great, but good and I think even 3 years ago it might’ve found an audience. Now in 2024? Everything was against it. I guess actually analyzing the market for games is important.
Yeah, no. If it was F2P, then maybe it could’ve found a small group of people who’d play it and it wouldn’t have died as quickly, but it never had a chance with everything else it had going against it. Whether it released a couple of days ago, three years ago, or ten years ago. You can have games with an uninteresting cast of characters do well. That game can even charge you $40 and still do well as long as it’s put together well. But it being a hero shooter on top of everything else? That’s what made it impossible for it to succeed in any timeline.

I disagree with the first statement, i think that no matter the concept or odea you have, if your execution is good then the result will be good, obviously games are for the entertainment but you can still have a message in it that doesn't ruin the game, i know this is an example of a series and not a game but i still feel like this fits, Blue eye Samurai is an amazing show with great writing and there's a lot of racism and sexism (it's set in old era japan) but it's handled as a part of the story that actually contributes to the narrative
But yeah if you "inject" a social message where it's nonsensical then guess what happens

@@sickbozo8152 More like just look at what women actually consume and expect focus group feedback to not be sincere.
