  • In the corner of a field, surrounded by countryside, there is a mystery!
Maen Achwyfan is a wheel cross which dates from around 1000AD and is said to be the tallest wheel headed cross in Wales - it's about 12 feet tall!
No one knows who or what it celebrates or why it was placed where it is.
If you'd like to follow in our footsteps by visiting Maen Achwyfan, some useful information is on our website at www.haveagrandtour.co.uk/maen...

Thank you. I live about a mile from it. There are lots of tumulus (burial mounds) in the area. There is one behind my house (nothing to do with me, honest gov'). I am really enjoying your videos.

      Thankyou!
      That does make sense.
I've been reading up more about this stone and have found some very interesting facts - including where it was possibly made and by whom!

I have to ask, what state were the remains in that were found by the road builders?

I dunno. But my best guess would be that the remains were skeletal.
