    I seen the 1300ad year video. And seeing this little magnificent castle in ruin broke my heart.

    As a kid I remember a lane behind the Marsh Cottages which had some kind of house shop and 2 two rows of tiny terrace houses running from it towards the railway line - we lived in a house between them and the textile works called Canada House - then they pulled the terraces houses down and we were told to move to make way for the bland 1960 estate

    Only just found these videos while looking for digital reconstructions of the medieval castles in Wales, as I think it's a great way of showcasing our history - especially Welsh history which isn't widely taught, but is pretty fascinating when you get into it. Your work is fantastic! I want to learn how to do this sort of stuff!!! If only I had the time...

      Thank you bujin1977. I agree. the Same ten to fifteen castle across Wales, England, and Scotland are constantly re-showcased and taught, yet there are thousands of castle sites in Britain. Not to mention the hill forts, ancient villages and homesteads. All have shaped the land we now live in, yet only a small amount is taught around a few tight narrative elements. I guess the hope is; Kids will gain interest with the mainstream and seek out the rest in their own time.

    That cottage next to the castle was my grandma's house. She would have been 2yrs old at this time.

      Wow. The old fishing cottage next to the castle is fascinating to me. I suppose we can say the couple outside the cottage can be identified as your great grand parents :)

    Your videos are absolutely fantastic. The detail leaves me with a real picture of life during the early 20th century.

    My grandfather would have been 15 then, living to the south east in Oakenholt...
    He died in Dunedin in 1951, before I was born.
    We visited Flint and Oakenholt in 2014, found his name in the Flint church.

    This is just absolutely amazing! I could watch this over and over :) I want to do exactly the same thing with a section of my old hometown from just before it was wiped out by the 60's planners. I'd be using Sketchup though and probably Unreal Engine which I've just started delving into.

    • @DextraVisual
      @DextraVisual  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks Sketch. As quite a few of the buildings still exist in flint, I had to research each one and work from photos or paintings to see what changes had occurred since 1905. This one took about four months to get the bulk done and then a few more to make smaller detail changes based on local feedback.

      Damn, a fair bit of work involved but it definitely paid off. I have always been into history and whenever watching documentaries and the digital reconstructions appear I've always thought it would be awesome to work on such projects. Considering that you are in the field if you could provide some insight that would be extremely appreciated :D
