I think it's normal or to be expected for a new game. I mean its not really controlled by Ravensburger either. I like how Pokemon does do it with those showcase cards in those sets you can buy at LGS or even big box retailer, however it does devalue their cards across the board. It's kind of a give and take. I'm both a collector and a competitor. In 5 boxes of 1st Chapter I have no Rapunzel, Belle, or Maleficent legendaries, and I'm like what do I do? Do I buy just 1 for collection, do I keep buying boxes/packs to get a playset of them each? Or do I just the collectors of each, and then just build decks around the cards I have. That is a big point about what you brought up, making decks with what we have, even if its not optimal. I got 1 Haram Flavorsham, I got 1 Fishbone Quill. Yet I have 4 Grand Pabbie, so I can build a blue deck but I don't have the ramp/draw engine needed. I only have 2 Be Prep, and no Malef Dragon, so I'm looking a bit mediocre in Ruby. Overall it gets really hard building a deck when the most critical cards for it, you don't have a playset of. Yet I do like that the cards are worth something, and not just $5.
Into the Inklands is a great set and many LGS's are low on the product or are sold out. I can see another wave of this set to come out. As for Tragic Beast there are alot of Rise of the Floodborn sealed product still out there its just that Tragic Beast is the only good money card in that set besides enchanted cards so the EV (expected value) of a booster box is far lower than what its priced as overall when cracked open. Unless Tragic Beast is priced the same as a floodborn booster box people are not going to be cracking packs from Rise of the Floodborn. Plus there is always power creep when new sets come out so whats hot right now may not be hot later on.
Depending on the type of deck you are building and this can go for most TCG games you can find a cheap singles or so BUT there is catch to this, Keep in mind this is someone who is coming form yugioh, which I do play from time to time and starting to get into Lorcana, But from my experiences so far is this you can make a cheap deck BUT you as the player will be working hard to compete if your trying to go into "pro" or something like that. Then that is when your going to be needing staple cards if your trying to make your deck work the way you want it to for example lets say you are playing a Steel/Amethyst deck now if you wanted draw power well for Steel you Sad Beast which he is good for most decks I seen with Steel he is a staple card but if you wanted card effects like him sure with Amethyst you have a lot of draw card but what if your playing other decks and you want to have a substitute for Sad Beast? This is when you start to see budget decks try to do some of the same effect that meta cards or staple cards are able to do without jumping hoops and depending on the type of deck you want to play, not just ink colors but stuff like Midrange, Control, Aggro, etc this would also shape on how you play with your deck, some people tend to forget this from what I seen, and like said before trying to find substitute's to cards that cost because that card is in demand makes it harder for you win at higher level. Outside of Lorcana there was one card I remember in yugioh that people wanted/needed if you were playing a fire deck and that was Bonfire there are 2 different version because of rarity but you needed that card if you were wanting to make your fire deck work one cost about $158.28, at the time of this writing and got the prices from TCG Player, and other version is about $64.31 now that can eat some one wallet up but if you want to be in the meta well you have to pay the price to play at high levels.
The game is fun doesn’t seem so complicated although it can get complex like magic but not equal. It got me and my brothers playing so it a W whether it stays in TCG or not
A few cards that see meta play are very expensive. Steel has the biggest problem being a cost multiplier. But singles are readily available for all the cards. Unsure of my reprint stance but not sure it would fix things. A lot of staple cards are seriously in sets you can buy boxes of for under msrp so most complaints are "i wanna open an elsa" not malificent dragons are pricey. I think a few steel cards need reprinting or put in a deck so that some of the rare and super rare cost cards are eased up but ravensburger rents printer time so they cant make quick meta swings.
Lorcana players: why are singles so expensive?! Every other TCG: first time? Seriously people don’t research how fast and expensive a TCG get. Part of the community fall out after the first set or two when reality hits them. Honestly Lorcana singles and stock prices are more stable compared to One Piece TCG at the moment.
Just because Lorcana is better than One Piece doesn't mean it can't also aspire to be better! And we've been through countless TCGs and know a singles problem when we see one. Is Lorcana as bad as others? No, but it also isn't as good as others too. We love this game and want the best for it long term which means finding a way to balance reasons to crack packs with relatively affordable access to the competitive cards. Thanks for the watching!
Sure there are staple common, uncommons, and rares that are very easy to acquire but staple Legendaries are another matter entirely. If you watched the video, I talk about how the casual community is doing great since you can build decent and fun decks without legendaries... but decent and competitive are not the same and starter decks won't get you very far at the highest level.
@@CampLegend-networkYou can build a tournament winning competitive deck, and arguably the best deck across multiple seasons, for well under $200. You can do it for under $100 if you swap the big Maleficents for Dragon Fires.

I'll be honest with you, I've played that deck myself and while it is definitely a ton of fun and a decent deck as a competitive entry point, I personally find it to be absolutely abysmal into the steel meta we live in with set 3. We have a lot of tournament results to support this as well especially a huge Pixelborn one (where every competitor has equal access to all the cards) and these cheap, hyper aggro decks like the one you're referencing were almost completely absent from top finishes. Nearly every top deck is running at least a playset a $25+ cards and some of them even run mulitple playsets of these chase legendaries. There are so many people who completely understand every mechanic, have built communities, and hunderds of dollars worth of decks. It just doesnt seem like a viable game to affordbly get into, let alone having to invest continuously into your decks. Yes, Lorcana players can keep investing in, but a lot of the community seems to be very casual compared to mtg players.
I've also been told by the ladies I play with that they liked that lorcana had more of a gender balance. So I would imagine that is also a contributer to the interest in different games, that may have a more diverse player base.
Because magic sucks and not everyone likes it.
