I like the "going down the Rabbit Hole" at 8:24. It reminded me of when the wife and I, a few weeks ago, decided to have a Kentucky Bourbon Trail Tour at home. The Kentucky Bourbon Trail officially has 18 distilleries, but not all of them produce Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. So, we created some basic criteria and ended buying and tasting fifteen bourbons. Mind you, we know nothing about tasting. 😊 We ended up voting for Rabbit Hole, which led me to look up if you had a video about it. Found one published back on 9/13/2017 (ep 189… Ep 189: Rabbit Hole Bourbon Whiskey Review / Tasting with Bulleit, Monkey Shoulder/Tomatin 12 Cameo). From a kilt wearer to a kilt wearer, you look great, Daniel. Anyway, it was interesting to watch your take on the Rabbit Hole. You did not say anything negative but did not find anything standing out, especially for a $60 bourbon bottle. Your reaction was more around the fact that Rabbit Hole would be more "generic" and could have been designed that way to please masses (not directly quoting and could be off). I think that this could be the reason why Rabbit Hole ended up being our favorite due to its more approachable profile for less trained whiskey amateurs like us. Keep up the great work. Love your videos.

I got into whisky at a young age, originally through Jim beam, which got me into Bourbon, then with jameson bringing me into Irish. Next challenge is Scotch, what's the best gateway? Tried johnny walker Red and black both taste like farts to me (black lesser so ). any help would be grateful.
Speaking of things that are obvious.. what’s the deal with Daniel’s giant medallion? Did I miss it in one of the videos or is it a flavor flav type thing?
I've been looking, since I had a bad experience with it about 15 years ago, but have you guys really never done an episode on Tyrconnell Irish Single Malt? I found it very aggressive and chemical-tasting at the time and haven't tried it since. Still, I'd be curious what you guys make of it (keeping in mind that apparently the brand vanished and then came back, or something, between 2006 and today, so it's possible that you're not experiencing the same whiskey that I did).
Can we figure out what's up there now or what the 12 categories should be? I'd guess they'd do 6 quintessential scotches for each region (Islay, Campbelltown, highland, lowland, Speyside, and islands), an Irish, a Japanese, a "world" whiskey, a rye, a bourbon, and a wheater. I can't tell all of what's on the shelf now, but it looks like Auchentoshan, Jameson, Redbreast, Laphroaig/Lagavulin, Buffalo Trace, Kavalan, possibly Makers 46, and possibly Kilchoman.
@@Jeshwa15 Yes, all of what you are asking is what a lot of people are asking. but I don't think they have even nailed down all the categories, let alone the actual quintessential whiskies. I'd say you are probably right on the ones you name, but I also have seen others on the wall, and empty shelves at times. Not just the Laphroaig/Lagavulin. By the way I think the Redbreast is a new addition it hadn't been there before. The one below and to the right the Lagavulin is Cardu, bottom center is Glenmorangie. cheers!
I looked around the channel and couldn't find any videos of you boys talking about Finlaggan Old Reserve. It's the whiskey that got me into whiskey, and I'd love to hear your thoughts on this budget Islay.
I'm drinking a glass of Jim and coke for the first time. My first impression was its smooth, light and easy to drink. As far as flavor goes, its sweat and very light no burn going down. I bought mine for $13.99 plus tax 2024. The buzz is smooth and clean. Would I try it again, YES!
I think someone put the Red Breast where the quintessential Rye was supposed to go. The Whistlepig 10 was supposed to be where the Red Breast 12 is, I believe
Thanks guys! I think a video that covers the wall of quintessential whisk(e)y as voted by the MBs would be a great starting place for beginners. That being said I realise you've done a lot of other videos in the past regarding entry level whisk(e)y so I understand your reluctance.
Great review. I consider myself a noob and would not recommend giving this to a noob. Start them with something exceptional and let them work their own way to cheaper bourbons. I think classic Jim Beam is fine if you just want a cheap sipper that is not offensive.
I regularly drink neat whiskey and although I probably drink more Beam than anything else, I find neat Beam to be quite abrasive. I've had guests who wanted to drink "Bourbon" who I had to convince to add more water. Or who asked for water after initially asking for none.
When I went to see Iron Maiden in 2019, I ended up paying $22 for a "Jim and Diet...double". I was actually surprised at how good it was in Diet Coke, on ice. Could have done without the "concert price" on the drink, though.
I guess I'll be the a**. Beam is my whisky of choice. I don't understand all the hate for it. It is smooth good tasting and doesnt leave you with a after taste. I have had a lot of whiskey but I'm i the only person that doesn't care about the after taste staying with you hours after you drink it. Mayby i am just strange but a good drink should not have a after taste that's stay with you if you drink or eat something after
My great-grandfather was a Beam fan, but he didn't just drink it. He would take plugs of chewing tobacco & soak them in Beam for a little extra flavor.
Would love to see you guys review the whiskys that are being made in 6-10 days. These are the whiskys in which the distillers are using pressure and forcing the spirit into the wood. Distillers like Lost Spirit and Cleveland. Thoughts?

The one below and to the right the Lagavulin is Cardu, bottom center is Glenmorangie. cheers!
Lol thanks!
Cheers guys! Question: do you remember the last time you were sober?
I looked around the channel and couldn't find any videos of you boys talking about Finlaggan Old Reserve. It's the whiskey that got me into whiskey, and I'd love to hear your thoughts on this budget Islay.
Mixing with coke, Jim beam is just fine and is priced right IMO
Yes. Current situation.
In Aus, Jim Beam White is sold at 37% abv ie couldn’t be sold in USA as a bourbon. For that reason it won’t be on my shopping list for any time soon
Am I the only one who prefers jim beam over jack Daniel's when im looking for a budget whiskeys
Emma doesn't do shenanigans. Emma is preforming a vital public service of putting laphroaig in its rightful place.
If you are in EU or Australia then try Old Virginia. Its 6 years aged and not too bad. I personally prefer it over Jim
Is that Rock Town on the left side of the screen? Do y’all feature that in a vlog?
Another Robert Burns Day skipped. Forgotten along with the quintessential shelves.
Add Coke, a little, to JB and you have the American South.
I drink my Whiskey neat, however there is something about a Beam and Coke, its like it was made for cola...l0l
@@laplantski Agree. Better than Jack and way better than Scotch, any Scotch.
Saw someone walk out of the liquor store with a bottle of white label yesterday and was wondering if you had done an actual review of it.
If we want to go with coffee comparisons, Jim Beam White is the Dunkin’ Donuts Americano of bourbon.
so happy to see the "thanks mitch" file is still alive
Great review. I consider myself a noob and would not recommend giving this to a noob. Start them with something exceptional and let them work their own way to cheaper bourbons. I think classic Jim Beam is fine if you just want a cheap sipper that is not offensive.
I regularly drink neat whiskey and although I probably drink more Beam than anything else, I find neat Beam to be quite abrasive. I've had guests who wanted to drink "Bourbon" who I had to convince to add more water. Or who asked for water after initially asking for none.
Couldn’t save this for RWF??
Where was this review when I needed it
That 'Big League Chew' sugar powder is CORN STARCH in the heavily CORN whiskey.
Yeah, I was thinking that, too. the dust on candy is often confectioner's sugar which contains a lot of corn starch.
When I went to see Iron Maiden in 2019, I ended up paying $22 for a "Jim and Diet...double". I was actually surprised at how good it was in Diet Coke, on ice. Could have done without the "concert price" on the drink, though.
What's with the first minute?
I can't find this anywhere. Is this a local whiskey?
I guess I'll be the a**. Beam is my whisky of choice. I don't understand all the hate for it. It is smooth good tasting and doesnt leave you with a after taste. I have had a lot of whiskey but I'm i the only person that doesn't care about the after taste staying with you hours after you drink it. Mayby i am just strange but a good drink should not have a after taste that's stay with you if you drink or eat something after
My great-grandfather was a Beam fan, but he didn't just drink it. He would take plugs of chewing tobacco & soak them in Beam for a little extra flavor.
How much had you guys imbibed before you shot this video?
You've earned my subscription and likes on everything for being fair and truthful. Cops checc cuffs 🤣😂🤣😂
Would love to see you guys review the whiskys that are being made in 6-10 days. These are the whiskys in which the distillers are using pressure and forcing the spirit into the wood. Distillers like Lost Spirit and Cleveland. Thoughts?
That back ground with all the bottles looks so cool😎💪🏻🙌🏻
I’ve just been getting into whisky. Just got out the stage Meh to I can definitely get into this. This was one of my firsts
I love Jim Beam I’ve been drinking in it for like 20 years I’ve had other bourbons but I always go back to this it pairs well with my Budweiser unfortunately people like this always seem to review it and not give it the props it’s do but I guess if I had didn’t have bills and had a bourbon room like the one in this video I’d probably say what their saying 🤦🏻♂️
I’d be curious to see an overview of which of the big brands make which whiskeys. I hear this is Heaven Hill or Buffalo Trace, but I never seem to keep them all straight.
I gave up booze years ago but when I did drink it was Jim Beam white label......loved the stuff.
Interestingly enough I go between the Jim and EC small batch for the easy no thinking sipper
