      Does it matter what degree you have to do this???

      @@TheDirtylacesTv Hi. I had a degree in media communications with a focus in broadcasting. However as long as you have a regular communications degree or a journalism degree or some sort you should be good to work.

      @@harrisonbelsanti1923 hey Harrison. Sorry for the late reply! I see you have an anchor reel up, so I hope things are going well for you man! I'm no longer in news anymore, the specific station I was working for was very toxic at the time. We had bad management and a lot of the talent quit. Not to mention the pay in this current economy of news isn't the greatest! It was rough I'm not going to lie. My advice is to start at a smaller station and work your way up for the experience. This industry can be tough, not a lot of free-time and you'll have to work weekends when you're just starting out in your career. Also just do your best to research the station and make sure it's a good fit and slows you to grow your skills as a journalist before moving away and signing the contract. Hope this helps! Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions. My ig is @dev.banx

    I just got hired as a morning producer working 12am-9am at ABC7 in Sarasota, FL. It’s been a bit hard to adjust to the new schedule but it truly is a rewarding career. Thank you for the amazing advice, you’ve really helped me out a lot

    • @KarlaGonzalezTV
      @KarlaGonzalezTV  19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hello! Typically, people in the industry have some sort of communications degree. However, I've seen people work their way up by getting a job as a production assistant, assignment desk, etc. Hope this helps!

    • @KarlaGonzalezTV
      @KarlaGonzalezTV  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I think I got training for about two weeks. The first week I shadowed some of my coworkers and the next week I was thrown into rundowns to practice! I think that’s what really helped me get the swing of things. Hope this helps ❤️

      Hey depending on when you graduated you should look into being a Hearst fellow they put you at a station where you get training for 10 weeks and then after the 10 weeks you get offered a 2 year contract for another Hearst station

      A long story short, I networked with my current boss at a career fair for media students at my college. My biggest take away is to put your work out there onto a portfolio website so that when you do go to hiring events or you apply to jobs you have something to showcase your skills!

    • @dreamerritt7183
      @dreamerritt7183 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KarlaGonzalezTV thanks for your response, I will look into doing that for sure! I am live in Atlanta, so there is much opportunity but getting a foot in the door is quite difficult. I am hoping to somehow find a apprenticeship with one of the networks. Much success to you, blessings!
