My husband and I just did all the flower beds around the house. Even though winter is coming soon here in Ohio, things were such a mess outside. The weeds had taken over! We pulled out several shrubs, all the weeds, took out one large flower bed all together, reduced what was in the others, just trying to simplify things.
My son and I had collected from the recycle center, large cardboard boxes, they were nice and heavy, we cut them up, put them in the beds and covered them with a thick layer of mulch! It looks SO much better, and makes ME feel SO much better! Hopefully in the spring, there shouldn't be much to do except plant some flowers.

Lovely! We're doing some smaller changes than what you've done and this was just what I needed to get back out there and work some more. I love the bigger changes you've made, but those little things do seem to make a difference too. Great job! (Love the pups!)

Yes River Rock is the way to go!!! Love it for a lasting look. Mulch only draws termites and it blends into the dirt and buries itself into it having to replace it. Too much work!

Everything look so pretty! You know what would be so pretty out there? A little fountain where you can listen to the water while your sitting out there!
That planter use to be a fountain, but all it did was attract more mosquitoes! So a planter it became!

I'm exactly like Jason, I would have gone through 6 total clothing changes from that heat. We had that same heatwave here and it was brutal, no idea how you work out in that but you both made everything look so fresh and clean.

Purple wandering Jew would be beautiful in that planter it will drape over the sides and it will have little pink flowers on it when it blooms. It grows so well without alot of care.
Hi Leslie and Jason...everything looks so pretty, but when digging holes for plants please dig wider and deeper, add potting soil to that hard dirt (lol), biotone fertilizer and water. Water good after planting n several days afterwards to help establish the root system. Adding low growing evergreens n ornamental grasses is easy care which you will need and adds so much beauty to the front.. For some reason I've never been a fan of rocks instead using dark wood chips which really helps hold moisture in our extreme heat. Sorry...can you tell I love gardening ...lol..sorry...just giving you some pointers. I do love everything you do, and Jason did a fabulous job on the lollipop tree

Love your home I just have one suggestion the two items beside your beautiful fern I think I would get something that would lower them some. Maybe jute twine or a chain spray painted. Again a beautiful home and love the rock siding

Great look! My house doesn't have the planting beds or rocks like you have but I'm thinking, what can I do with what I've got. And I've come up with a few things I can do with limited mobility and funds. I can clean my cobwebs and I can paint my porch steps. Simple but I can do that and maybe a few other things too. Thanks for the motivation!!
