I've watched a lot of the early John Wayne stuff from the 1930's before he really broke out in Stagecoach (1939). This is one of his better early ones. You can see the makings of a star.
i have seen 68 of buck jone's 74 b-westerns. the 6 i have never found are The Lone Rider (1930), Desert Vengeance (1931), McKenna of the Mounted (1932), Silver Spurs (1936), Ride 'Em Cowboy (1936), Empty Saddles (1936) in case you can find any of them.
According to IMDb, the female in this movie, Susan Fleming, later was married to Harpo Marx for over two decades, until his death. Ms. Fleming was also known as 'The Girl with the Million Dollar Legs' (as part of a publicity campaign associated with a show that occurred later than this movie).
i'm not an expert on horses but i have to say cowboy can't run his horse like buck Jones does in the movie. i'd love to own would that would. nuff said..
If you were an expert, you'd know that these horses are in top condition and can run long and hard. Check out 50 and 100 mile endurence horses. I have seen some blow through a 25 mile race stop and just keep on going after escaping their dismounted rider cause they were just getting warmed up.
We don't usua;lly have to worry about the hoeroes main horse. Standby horses are used for the riskier stuff. As for running the horse, watch the hoorse's tail. Looks like the film speed was pushed up a bit.

Great little western. I can't believe they actually spelled "feud" wrong in the opening title.

To bad about that political ad at the beginning.
