The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus performing Face Down live at Metro Theatre in Sydney on 25 February 2009
    * Ronnie Winter - Lead Vocals and Guitar * Duke Kitchens - guitars, piano, backing vocals * Joey Westwood - bass, backing vocals * Jon Wilkes - drums, backing vocals
Sprinkling their impassioned brand of alternative rock with touches of screamo, pop-punk, and metal, the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus was originally born in 2003 in Middleburg, Florida. After writing and rehearsing for 18 months with no real intentions of either performing or recording, the bandmembers were urged by several friends to pursue their music seriously. This encouragement led the guys to book themselves several local shows, much to the quick embracement of their hometown scene. As the buzz grew, the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus recorded their first EP and began relentlessly spreading their name around Florida. Despite a rapidly developing fan base, several subsequent label showcases amounted to nothing and various bandmembers either exited or were asked to leave the group. Undeterred, the band's remaining core -- vocalist Ronnie Winter and guitarist Duke Kitchens -- began to rebuild the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. Soon completing the quintet were guitarist/vocalist Elias Reidy, bassist Joey Westwood, and drummer Jon Wilkes; childhood friends Reidy and Westwood had also previously played together in a metal band called In Fate's Hands. A few months after the lineup was solidified, the guys inked a deal with Virgin. Entering the studio with David Bendeth (Hawthorne Heights, Breaking Benjamin) in 2005, the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus began crafting their full-length debut. The resulting Don't You Fake It appeared in July 2006, and part of that summer was spent on the Warped Tour; the album was certified gold by the year's end, propelled by the success of the Top 40 single "Face Down." The band also contributed a track to the video game soundtrack for Madden NFL 2007. The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus set to work on a follow-up album in 2007, taking a brief break in early 2008 to launch an acoustic tour of the eastern seaboard. Lonely Road was then released in February 2009, three months after the announcement that guitarist Reidy had exited the band's lineup. ~ Corey Apar, All Music Guide

I remember being in highschool, dissapointed that all these bands aren't able to sing their songs live while scrolling through TH-cam.
Nowadays, I can see that it's not really that deep and they're just there for the fans. When you see concerts of all different types of genres, you really start to care less about being critical like it's a day job.

Out of all those emo punk rock bands in 2005-2012, only All Time Low, Fallout Boy and Silverstein can sing live. The rest are hot garbage like RJA, American Rejects, and yes even Secondhand Serenade.
I want to include FM static on the good ones but they quit the lime light since they were really a worship song band, just some of their songs got popular but it was all for Christ.

Are you a musician? “Fine” is a adjective. I’ll give you that most bands don’t play to the quality of the recording live...but they should be able to. It’s called work. His vocal pitch and delivery is shit. And I think the band might even be tuned 1/2 step down. Which makes it worse.

sounds like his voice was giving out, probably from singing for the long set. If you guys didn't know your vocal chords can get tired just like a drummers limbs or guitarists hand could get tired. Only difference is that you don't notice the difference as much with instruments because the drummer will play a little softer if anything and guitar you may notice inconsistency with timing of the notes, but will still play the notes. With vocals tiredness directly affects the notes, which make it much more noticeable and doesn't help that its what people mainly focus on during the song. Also the music industry isn't easy he has probably been playing many shows within short spans. Cut the poor guy some slack.

I don't understand why there are so many negative comment about this video. For me it's amazing
To evaluate a live doesen't must only be based on performance and the singer's voice , but also on the synergy between it and the public . This video is fantastic because the singer , although exhausted and voiceless , puts the passion in singing it, and the audience does the same to the point that the singer can stop singing to listen to the audience singing his song , then the attitude the singer , her anger , seems a story lived closely, then maybe I'm wrong about this . The fact is that the public and band are one in this song ....
    Faces!

I know your comment was 3 years ago now lol but I just wanted to point out that screaming isn't necessarily harder work on your voice than singing. I'm guessing you're not a singer because if you were (especially if you've done it as part of a band that plays live rock music like this!) you'd know that singing, especially rock music where you're frequently using your upper range, is REALLY tiring on your voice. If anything screaming is less taxing on the voice because it's supposed to be distorted - singing has to be clean, very precisely controlled, in tune, and you have to pronounce the words in a way that people can understand them. That's why his screaming sounds better than his singing here!

If anyone deserves more of a break it's the lead singer of breaking benjamin who sounds exactly how he sings when recording in the studio. How about Kurt Cobain or Layne Stailey before they passed? How about Adam Grontier before he left three days grace? How about deuce? They play harder than this guy yet sound amazing still.

For the judgmental comments..... just because a singer has bad technique doesn’t mean they suck. The lead vocalist had a gorgeous natural tone, he was blessed. He’s got some bad vocal habits that if he could work on them he’d be fine. Estill voice method and a singing straw and he’d be set.

Regarding this song...I meant its hard to sing it how it sounds on the album, which is full of auto-tune, Im sure. He can't really sing it live which is understandable because the range on the song is ridiculous.

I like to really judge how good a band is from their live performance.. I mean, maybe it's not my cup of tea, although I like the original recorded song, but when I compare it to live performances of The Eagles, Rage Against the machine, Guns and Roses, Linkin Park, it's just.. not there..

@@danielgallardo7249 The greatest live band ever. The technical level is off the charts and just three guys who crushed it for 40 years. Loved Rush so much

Hey girl you know you drive me crazy
One look puts the rhythm in my hand
Still I'll never understand why you hang around
    I see what's going down
Cover up with make up in the mirror
Tell yourself it's never gonna happen again
You cry alone and then he swears he loves you
Do you feel like a man
    When you push her around?
Do you feel better now, as she falls to the ground?
Well I'll tell you my friend, one day this world's got to end
As your lies crumble down, a new life she has found
A pebble in the water makes a ripple effect
Every action in this world will bear a consequence
If you wait around forever you will surely drown
    I see what's going down
I see the way you go and say you're right again
    Say you're right again
    Heed my lecture
Do you feel like a man
    When you push her around?
Do you feel better now, as she falls to the ground?
Well I'll tell you my friend, one day this world's got to end
As your lies crumble down, a new life she has found
    Face down in the dirt
    She said "This doesn't hurt!"
She said "I finally had enough!"
    Face down in the dirt
    She said "This doesn't hurt!"
She said "I finally had enough!"
One day she will tell you that she has had enough
    It's coming round again
Do you feel like a man
    When you push her around?
Do you feel better now, as she falls to the ground?
Well I'll tell you my friend, one day this world's got to end
As your lies crumble down, a new life she has found
Do you feel like a man
    When you push her around?
Do you feel better now, as she falls to the ground?

For a live performance, this wasn’t too bad. Watch The Offspring play the kids aren’t alright at Woodstock, that’s worse than this one, but it’s still pretty cool just hearing them live.
