  • Step-by-step guide on how to remove / replace / change temperature blend door actuator on first generation of Jeep Compass SUV. Can't change the temperature? Fan is stuck blowing either warm or cold air? No hear or a/c? Tapping noise from the dashboard?
    This video should apply to pre-facelift and post-facelift Jeep Compasses. ( 2007 | 2008 | 2009 | 2010 | 2011 | 2012 | 2013 2014 | 2015 | 2016 | 2017 | SPORT | NORTH EDITION | LIMITED | 4WD ).
    Before you start removing the actuator make sure to disconnect the negative battery terminal. Then lower the glove box all the way down to get access to blower motor and the actuators. Temperature blend door actuator will be located all the way on the right side, on the sidewall. It is a bit hard to see it and access it. Disconnect the electrical connector from the blend door actuator by pushing onto the black tab and pulling it out. Now you will need a small ratchet with phillips socket or a really small screwdriver. There are two screws to remove (one on the top and one on the bottom of the actuator). This is a vit of a challenge to do, but it is doable if you are able to squeeze your hand inside and behind the blower. Good luck.
    Thanks for watching.

    This is the recirculation door actuator. The hot to cold is on the driver side

      I cannot find the recirculation actuator anywhere. It's 2 different parts correct? For some reason every part store just has the blend door actuator only

    Thank you so much! I just fixed my 2011 Jeep Compass Latitude like this it was a little tedious but I finally did it. The part was about $35 in auto zone.

    man i have been listening to my jeep make this clicking noise for close to a year now and i just now cared enough to fix it because something is draining my battery, and i have heard this sound from outside my car when the car is turned off and parked for hours. I don't know if this will fix it, but it's worth a shot. thanks so much for this

      Hmm this noise shouldn't be there after the vehicle is parked for hours. Actuator will be noisy and clicking once you give power to the vehicle or you start it

    i am working on a 2015 compass and the blend door for temp control is under left side of dash above gas pedal area, the actuator you are servicing there is for the recirculation

    • @QuiteAlright

      Hmmm hard to say without inspecting the vehicle, but most likely wiring issue or a loose connections somewhere

    My son says he has a tapping noise coming from the dashboard is this the one that is making this noise or is there another one in the dash in another area?

    • @QuiteAlright
      @QuiteAlright  ปีที่แล้ว

      There are 2 or 3 under the dash. If taping noise appears while changing the ambient temperature then it will be the one showed on this video. If it happens while changing the fan speed or fan mode it will be a different one. To be 100% sure which one is faulty he would need to connect obd2 scanner and access hvac module and run diagnostics and see which actuator fails. Hope this helps

    This happens to my 2016 jeep compass every year after having used the AC all summer. Really getting sick of oating $400 a year to fix it. I have the clicking noises so I know every year when its going to happen. Is this the actuator I have to replace?

    • @QuiteAlright
      @QuiteAlright  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There is couple of actuators under the front dash. Depends which one failed. You would have to scan the system using higher end obd2 scanner and run diagnostics. Other option is you can try listening or placing hand on the actuator and see which one is noisy

      I get most of the parts from my local car parts suppliers where I have accounts set up. If can't find something than online. If you are planning to replace blend door actuator make sure to go with OEM part

  • @rogeranderson4141

    Is there only one actuator in the vehicle. My repair shop tried to tell me there are 3 or 4.

    • @QuiteAlright
      @QuiteAlright  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes there is couple of them. To diagnose which one you need to replace you would have to connect higher end obd2 scan tool, access hvac module and run diagnostics. Without a scanner you can try and listen if any of them is making tapping noise. Or if for example temperature change (cold to warm0 doesn't work then it is that actuator. Same thing goes for fan speed, fan mode or driver / passenger double climate. In this video I was showing how to replace the actuator which controls the temperature setting

    • @QuiteAlright
      @QuiteAlright  20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hmmm that's unusual. It is a common thing for the actuators to go bad. Not sure why they would replace whole housing

  • @jesses.7140
    @jesses.7140 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    This is NOT the temperature blend door actuator. I wasted a month due to this false video. This is the recirculation door actuator. The temperature blend door actuator is under/behind the steering wheel. They are the same actuator but totally different locations and functions

    • @adrianabishop9579
      @adrianabishop9579 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      How did you replace the omw behind the steering wheel ??

    • @jesses.7140
      @jesses.7140 19 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      @@adrianabishop9579it is a major hassle and really hard to get to. I removed the plastic trim panel and metal plate (like six small screws) from under the steering wheel. The blend door actuator is up and to the right under the steering wheel. When you remove the screws for the actuator a white plastic piece will come off with it. That is what opens and closes the blend door. Getting that white plastic piece back into place while holding the actuator to screw it back into place took me like 20 attempts over 30 minutes and a lot of swearing.
