You probably know already but one sneaky trick with ambushing is that you can really easily hamstring besiegers by partially damaging siege engines which doesn't let them rebuild full HP ones for the real battle.
I had no idea this was possible but- On the Eighteenth of Autumn 1099 Sultan Unqid fell in battle, and the lords of the Aserai actually 100% unanimously chose ME to be the next Sultan- makes sense, I was kinda roleplaying the protector of the Aserai lands, retaking Quyaz and it’s nearby castles several times and ripping up invading Vlandian and Imperial armies while Unqid was hellbent on expanding in the East, and so it cost him his life and his clan the crown.. Maybe an idea for later in the campaign rather than forming your own kingdom. Wazu’s inheritor could become the Sultan who leads the Aserai to rise out of the desert, striking into Calradia while the greedy kings and pretender emperors fight eachother.
Another great episode. I'll have to find the tutorials on the Crane formation. I'm not quite as adapt at troop commands. But I'll get there. On another note, I slowed down the video and it looks like the soldier that pushed Wazu off the siege tower was either one of the guys he'd been stealing from at night, or a relative of a militia soldier that took a javelin in the back during a previous siege.

Hey I’ve found success with ambushes by just letting the troops to their own thing and or charging and they seem to know what to do. It helps to focus with a two handed weapon on whatever siege weaponry/tower has the most of your troops attacking. I occasionally attack the enemy but I focus on not dying and destroying the towers and ram and then I go back into the castle. The enemy is either forced to attacks at a disadvantage with fewer siege weapons or dissolve

I've been trying to start a similar campign and keep running into issue with the mods. I've tried troubleshooting, adjusting files, but still no luck... Thnak you!

I have a way to command your troops to destroy the siege engines on an ambush - I’ve done some testing and it seems that none of the manual commands will do anything and they cannot be targeted. If you give them the “delegate command” order (where your character shouts to follow your sergeants) the AI will prioritize the siege engines.
Does Ambush have some sort of mod conflict with Battle Size? I recently tried my first Ambush and their entire army was sitting out there waiting me for me lol
Wazu, how could you waste all that money? (you terminated the contract with SEmpire a day or two too early, and basicaly kicked some 20k right out of the window while Wazu could get solid professional care by some properly built ladies doing nothing). Also - giving prisoners (nobles, not common troops) to the faction jail nets you much more money through influence (and farming relation and Charm in the long run) than simply ransoming them. That's not proper greed, it's negligence! ;) Animals in the inventory slows you down. Wazu probably cheerish the fresh meat but still. There is a few QoL mods which you might consider in already modded game: 'Equip the best item' (self explanatory, lifesaver if you have a lot of companions), Sell all but stops at zero (sanity saver in shops), Autoresolve rebalanced (modifies the mathemacics behind the autoresolve so higher level troops do not dies like flies fighting against peasants, with armor value correction it synergize very well with RBM, too),Tutelage (slowly trickles down highest skill of NPC to others in your party), XP tweaks (allows reasonable rate of companion advancement, thought it is more important if you use shortened season lenght as I am, it allows also tweaking all the XP gain so you can set the minimum for everybody except your clan in a way which will quickly make +300 skill points monsters from every lord as you intended), Kingdom Politics Expanded corrects TW bugs in policies and how the lords vote for them and ofc Diplmacy - which allows you set agressivness and general war/alliance political landscape as you wish, Horses - which in a game named Mount&Blade corrects TW negligence in that dept, and maybe Improved Garrisons which puts the kingdom mundane management on a whole new level. yeah, i think in this case, 'sergeants take charge' is the only way you can get them to start whacking the siege.
I've been able to get my troops to attack siege engines by clicking on the broken cog icon that shows up.
