But he stacks those odds impressively in the enemies favour. And because of this, I've even taken to let enemies in my own games, survive and thrive, so my own battles are epic and enjoyable.

This episode was great! Love the early game tactics. It will be very interesting, seeing how you deal with the complications of being fresh into a campaign 😅 looking forward to watching this new campaign!
You do you, consider all the comments asking for certain mods as suggestions. This is great content, off the cuff style. I had a recent early battle 25 vs 20. Charging in caused a near wipe of all my troops, then I broke my infantry into 2 squads and positioned my archers on a slightly elevated ground nearby. The other guy charged his cav after the larger of the two groups. But quickly lost them to spearman and bows. I then saw his main body of skirmishers and infantry move up. So I sent the larger group forward while moving up the small inf group wide this broke his main group into 2 that I quickly sandwiched. Then I moved up my bows to fire enfilade. Only lost 2 guys but they were peasants with pitchforks. Felt a proper sergeant winning that victory.
Just got back into this game, first time in my playthrough I didn’t know tactics or anything this playthrough I’m really getting into it and your videos are making a huge difference in my battles

So much gold for new players like me in here. Did not know you could reorganize on the fly and create divisions I thought it was just for consolidation. This helps immensely
I tried your tactics in sieges where I fall back to a choke point with elevated areas around it and put infantry to hold the choke point and archers on the elevated areas like walls or to the sides of the choke point and I’ve seen great improvement where I totally don’t get overrun in a siege, and I take less casualties than the enemy when they have 5:1 army size to me, you need more subs for sure for this great content and very helpful 🫡

lmao... well we'll see how bad it gets, but I'm willing to try some more. Certainly something that we ALL have to deal with.... unless you just roam solo the entire time.
one thing that i could absolutely use is some guinding for when you are attacking. it's normally easy to defend up to 2 to 1 odds, i use to manage up to 3 to 1 with some diff. but i get trouble when i have to attack. normally i sit back my troops as when deffending and go alone shooting at them from the distance and trying to raid their cav for them to react and attack my troops or in the meantime as i'm attacking alone i command my troops to gradually advance to archer's shooting distance, but i wanted to know if there's attacking taticks for when the enemy is stopped at the edge of the map refusing to attack.
Check the channel as there are some vids on this. Two things that I have learned watching here. Cav are not the offensive charge only monsters. They just don't work that way in game and are best used in other ways. First off is the mobile screen. Not always effective but if you can run your cav to a section and stop the enemy from moving there- DO IT! Cav in shield wall can hold against archers really well and force the AI to not move where it wants. Secondly, that cav in shield wall that just walks forward tanking and disrupting for the infantry behind can work great for moving forward in an attack. Check for the shield and shock tactics there.
23:00 I often kill my own units on purpose if they get in my way and are blocking me. Yesterday had an infantry unit try to go down a ladder when I told them to charge, and they met their end to a close range javelin
10:45 I think we just want the tactical part. In the early game the best strategy is just to not fight anything but some hideouts and bandits (aka easy wins), but we want to fight
Can't recommend enough having between 10-15 Faris in the early game when being the aggressor. Similar to Tacticals Enlightenments comments on his troop comparison video, using them to circle the enemy is devastating and will force the enemy to charge your lines by the time your Javelins run dry allowing you to design the battlefield instead of forcing an attack!
Yeah, I've also been running 50% archers in the early going. From my archer guide(coming soon!), I've learned that the bottom line is unless you REFUSE to play with archers, they are the number one way to win battles. You ALWAYS force the action...
I would love to see some tactics on what you would do when the enemy holds up in a defensive position in their circle formation with archers in the middle. Ran into that yesterday, despite the Vlandians out numbering me and having the advantage on the power bar--very annoying as I could not find a good vantage point for my archers to go after them
@@HeadlessHorsemanProductions I swear I stood in my peek a boo ridge set up for 20 minutes before finally deciding to go after them. It did not work out well, but then again this campaign is only at tier 4 lol
Amazing early grind strategy is to run as one man into sieges to power level combat skills while a mercenary with nothing but the gear on your back. Almost no risk huge rewards I made 50k in my first 15 minutes on my newest play through from using the catapult and annihilating the enemy siege engines in a siege and forcing a break after killing a bunch of them
Usually I get between 26-30k off of it if you can get a particularly large siege like 2-3 thousand it is nice generally what I’ll do is declare war and join the battle as an independent then join a faction as a mercenary since you get a TON of renown from it
Btw you can track enemy armies from the diplomacy tab in the kingdom menu by clicking on the hourglass then clicking on the name of when it says “(insert name) has created an army”
I love RBM, mostly because in the base game the tactics tend to be more early modern with how effective archers are and innefective calvery is, RBM isn't perfect but closer to Medieval warfare than the base game
Why do you choose to control the left wing? I usually prefer to handle the right wing in battles like 13:15 so that I dont have to deal with their horse archers (since with low cav its really hard to pin them down)
This rules it's basically what I've been dealing with in my campaign! Those Vlandian devils are relentless. What would happen if you execute their king? Does your kingdom exile or hate you for it? I've had multiple chances to but like my honor trait too much lol
I like RBM mod, I can take or leave the armor/weapon changes and pike/spear preferences but the AI module is an absolute must on all my runs since first usage.
I like the AI module but the AI tends to regroup MUCH more than I believe is tactically sound and it leads to them getting butchered, especially archers, when reinforcements arrive...
I'll be using RBM some both in this practice run and then I hope also in my actual answer I campaign because I do recognize that the AI is frequently Superior to vanilla banterlord
I really enjoy the variation both in mods and late vs early campaign. As a console player i appriciate tactics for vanilla but I like the diffrent mods aswell. Makes the daily experience more interesting. If u get the time it would be cool If you try historical tactics and compare the result to bannerlord. I know you do this with kill box and other tactics that work in bannerlord. But I would love to see more, even if the outcome fails.
I'm enjoying RBM; makes armor much more important, has forced me to re-evaluate my weapons of choice, and I prefer a longer slugfest to mail made of paper.
I'll be adding it in here and there, but probably NOT for the entire campaign, unless your comment here(and the like kind) get upvoted and concurred by dozens of fellas). Appreciate the feedback mate!
I like it for the AI and because it lets me run Better Pikes. The armor side is super touchy with needing patches for any armor or weapons packs. I have that side disabled.
Anyone have any pointers/advice for that time in the game when you are around clan level 3, not ready enough to make your own kingdom, but wanting to - I have a few castles, a caravan, a workshop, but no real direction
Hope others can chime in. I'd be taking castles and attacking targets of opportunity left and right. Keep racking up skill, levels, companions, perks and denars.
15:00 you can accidently throw some javelins in his head?!? You know the wind took it!?! 🤔🤪🤣 Instead of a ritual sacrife of one of your guys give a noble sacrife to the RNG gods? 🤔🤣
I would say no rmb mod ! I do like some rmb battle a whole campain? No! Are going to do sandbox or campain? If you want it harder sandbox is the way! 👍
My biggest problem early game is dealing with the low tier archers on my side. Like they need to be so close to do any damage that they feel useless. Then you level them up and they become good, but its like 1 fian champion will out dps 5 weak archers (which isnt the case for something like infantry, one legionary wont beat 5 infantryman)
@@joelhall3820 Runs for me, but I realize there are also version mismatches. If people struggle indefinitely with it I may share a video showing mods AND version numbers that, for me at least, seem stable.
This looks like mercancery stage of game where I use infantry (F5) slow retreat and archers doing the job. I avoid battles from begining because I use mods with high cost of troops and reinforcment system and its better to pay them to let me go in peace if I am not attacker I cant retreat without sacrfice the troops. So I enjoy this series. Dont want to see RBM I think Vanila is good shape now. Dont know why your battle AI is so passive (probably Army Leader is low Tactic skill
your tactics are very good and I've seen improvement in my battles but how would you play with an army of infantry without ranged weapons, I know that's a shitty scenario but it would be interesting, I struggle with knowing when to charge/line/shieldwall my infantry
I think it's almost exclusively squares here at the center, shock on the side protected, then collapse on a distracted enemy. I can make a video eventually but I have sooo much content planned.
William is fine, ironically I ask my wife to call me that and never does LOL, usually it's babe(don't call me that!), or Will... When I was a kid it was Willy, I think when I am old it's Bill. For now it's the more distinguished William though someone told me I can be cool and go by Liam too lol Glad you're excited too - gotta be honest, though I have 'paused' my death-match campaign and still doing some other fun series, it's a lot of fun and new/fresh feel to have a guy with 80 weapon skill duking it out against NASTY bannerknights. In my campaign I just shred them, now they are properly terrifying!
Can you do a video on how to beat battanian armies? Their archers in particular i struggle with. If you already have a video on it, please let me know 😊
I see what you are doing, maybe talk/show how you mix/match troops for new players, just touch on how you do it, nothing deep just a heads up. Thank you for the content.
Welcome bud, yeah going to have some fun with this practice run, real short, maybe not even level 20, then a little break before I start a real campaign. STILL not sure what I want to do. Merc? Bandits? Raider? Overlord? We'll see... (your feedback is welcomed!)
If you are this good kiting the enemy with foot archers, image what you could do as a Khuzait😂 Hey you are humble to mention strat, well you are also catching up to him in term of tactic.👍 Anyway you Aserai character is probably related to the Jawal mercenary😂😂
Working on that series right now, and you're right, it's about to get UGLY for the enemy. Here's a pretty good example of destruction with Horse archers: th-cam.com/video/YWz6niOZBMg/w-d-xo.html
I think movement speed banners are huge. Like normally heavy infantry lags heavily behind archers, but in my recent playtrough I got a 30% move speed banner early from a khuzait tournament, and now my legionaries far outrun my fian champions and it kind of messes with me
Played a lot on PC, recently been playing on Xbox, one thing to note for console is that there doesn’t seem to be as fine of controls for troop movements, I cant seem to set anything other than troop formations and locations, not allowing troop spread is almost a no-go for outnumbered tactics. I have found some success with archers firing on a choke point with an infantry square holding it, but not being able to spread the archers thin to ensure firing angles and not being able to set the exact square hinders tactics immensely.
Generally I throw a heavy infantry square in a choke and throw archers adjacent to shoot on the choke, cavalry in reserve. But it is about 25% as effective as it could/should be if I could actually control the spread of the units.
Hopefully others help here as I don't know how it compares. I CAN say that much of the tactics should be the same, just a little less ability for you to do them in real time...
You should do RMB, just without the overhaul or posture system, just using the AI tactics. that way its somewhat smarter AI, without everyone being a tank
I may add RBM at times to the Aserai campaign but since probably 80% of the players are NOT using it(maybe 90%?) I don't want to use it exclusively. I DO like RBM and the AI is generally better but also predictable like all game AI.
Also, not to totally glaze you, but your comprehension of Gen Z lingo is fuckin impressive man. If you didn’t state your age I would think you were like 25 based on how well you grasp modern internet slang.
Basically exactly how I feel, I also notice battles kind of drag. OPTIMAL for tactics, maybe not optimal for streaming and shared episodes, though some folks certainly like it...
Probably because pound for pound they are some really powerful troops. Before my one Aserai playthrough I used to call them Trasheri but once I commanded then I realized the problem is the AI, not the Aserai.
Mostly because I have played Sturgia, Battania and now Khuzait(in the side series), so looking forward to something very unique. (and I love javelins LOL)
Yes, sorry to say but this is the case. Fortunately if you do it right, doesn't take too long to be in charge. 15-20 hours? Much of it you can do solo too.
If you want to attract a larger audience, get rid of all the curse words. F bombs as you say might be s feature of your channel but I won't be watching due to its over use.
I'm sorry that's the case, but I understand, bud. Everyone has things that bothers them and one person's enjoyment is another persons noise. I have, so far, remained true to who I am, and though I understand not everyone will enjoy it, I'd rather be true to myself and wish those who don't like it a good day. Almost no risk huge rewards I made 50k in my first 15 minutes on my newest play through from using the catapult and annihilating the enemy siege engines in a siege and forcing a break after killing a bunch of them
Works particularly well on archery engineering and throwing
lmao... I'll have to try this...
Usually I get between 26-30k off of it if you can get a particularly large siege like 2-3 thousand it is nice generally what I’ll do is declare war and join the battle as an independent then join a faction as a mercenary since you get a TON of renown from it
Also make sure you go into the settlement before the siege starts since you’d need troops to be able to break into it
Btw you can track enemy armies from the diplomacy tab in the kingdom menu by clicking on the hourglass then clicking on the name of when it says “(insert name) has created an army”
i like it
I love RBM, mostly because in the base game the tactics tend to be more early modern with how effective archers are and innefective calvery is, RBM isn't perfect but closer to Medieval warfare than the base game
Will mix a little into this practice campaign...
Loving doing some flanks attack into the IA mele
Ya, flank those fuckers(that's a T-shirt waiting to happen)
Why do you choose to control the left wing? I usually prefer to handle the right wing in battles like 13:15 so that I dont have to deal with their horse archers (since with low cav its really hard to pin them down)
34:31 I really enjoyed this one. Enjoy all of them but this one was just a little extra
Cool because I'll be making 3-5 episodes like this, so more to come brother. Cheers!
This rules it's basically what I've been dealing with in my campaign! Those Vlandian devils are relentless. What would happen if you execute their king? Does your kingdom exile or hate you for it? I've had multiple chances to but like my honor trait too much lol
For SOME reason, the Vlandian are just possessed in this early practice run...
I started my first bannerlord difficulty campaign yesterday as empire and i think im gonna make a new aserai one now instead XD you made it look fun
I think ALL are fun if you haven't done it before. I say stay with your campaign and then go Aserai once you're contented.
@@HeadlessHorsemanProductions I tend to start too many slots in games 😂 I'll resist the urge this time
have you tried this with RBM AI module? I notice when I try and skirmish like you do the infantry breaks formation and charges me down
I'll be using RBM some both in this practice run and then I hope also in my actual answer I campaign because I do recognize that the AI is frequently Superior to vanilla banterlord
Love and really thank you for your work! Just to be clear that its not bad critic
Understood completely, I can FEEL your passion, bud. Cheers!
Very late game campaign, it's crazy
Yaaaaa
I'm enjoying RBM; makes armor much more important, has forced me to re-evaluate my weapons of choice, and I prefer a longer slugfest to mail made of paper.
I'll be adding it in here and there, but probably NOT for the entire campaign, unless your comment here(and the like kind) get upvoted and concurred by dozens of fellas). Appreciate the feedback mate!
I like it for the AI and because it lets me run Better Pikes. The armor side is super touchy with needing patches for any armor or weapons packs. I have that side disabled.
@@joelhall3820 How do you do just that, disable the module??
@@HeadlessHorsemanProductions yes just disable the top module in the setting and enable the lower one.
@@joelhall3820 got it
Anyone have any pointers/advice for that time in the game when you are around clan level 3, not ready enough to make your own kingdom, but wanting to - I have a few castles, a caravan, a workshop, but no real direction
Hope others can chime in. I'd be taking castles and attacking targets of opportunity left and right. Keep racking up skill, levels, companions, perks and denars.
Aserai and khuzait rely on more speed.
It’ll be interesting to see if your tactics adjust.
Why Aserai for more speed? because of horse archers? I only have 3-4 so far so not much impact...
It’s an open desert. You can kite endlessly + RBM heavy cav decimate in an open field
Lets goooo
15:00 you can accidently throw some javelins in his head?!? You know the wind took it!?! 🤔🤪🤣 Instead of a ritual sacrife of one of your guys give a noble sacrife to the RNG gods? 🤔🤣
I would say no rmb mod ! I do like some rmb battle a whole campain? No! Are going to do sandbox or campain? If you want it harder sandbox is the way! 👍
Going sandbox, and just like you suggest here, occasional RBM, not the entire campaign. Cheers!
How do you use the battle size mode? For me it crashes instantly even if there s less than 2048 actors on field(including horses)
May be your versions. I can check to see what mine are, but I am on 1.28.31530 vanilla
Not all graphics cards like that mod. I have a 2060 Super and it doesn’t like it either.😢
Yeah getting close to keeping another party... I haven't done that much though so it will be interesting...
your tactics are very good and I've seen improvement in my battles but how would you play with an army of infantry without ranged weapons, I know that's a shitty scenario but it would be interesting, I struggle with knowing when to charge/line/shieldwall my infantry
I think it's almost exclusively squares here at the center, shock on the side protected, then collapse on a distracted enemy. I can make a video eventually but I have sooo much content planned.
Beautiful video, William (do you mind if I address you by your name?) I can't wait for the full campaign!
William is fine, ironically I ask my wife to call me that and never does LOL, usually it's babe(don't call me that!), or Will... When I was a kid it was Willy, I think when I am old it's Bill. For now it's the more distinguished William though someone told me I can be cool and go by Liam too lol
Glad you're excited too - gotta be honest, though I have 'paused' my death-match campaign and still doing some other fun series, it's a lot of fun and new/fresh feel to have a guy with 80 weapon skill duking it out against NASTY bannerknights. In my campaign I just shred them, now they are properly terrifying!
@@HeadlessHorsemanProductions I'll try not to call you babe😂 and yeah, I imagine after going so along so much power, a new campaign is refreshing
Can you do a video on how to beat battanian armies? Their archers in particular i struggle with. If you already have a video on it, please let me know 😊
Try this bud: th-cam.com/video/MM2vgxwoNYc/w-d-xo.html
What mods are you using on this vid. I need the one were it auto spawns everyone.
That's the BATTLE SIZE mod, it's great.
@@HeadlessHorsemanProductions thanks 🙏🏻
I see what you are doing, maybe talk/show how you mix/match troops for new players, just touch on how you do it, nothing deep just a heads up. Thank you for the content.
Welcome bud, yeah going to have some fun with this practice run, real short, maybe not even level 20, then a little break before I start a real campaign. STILL not sure what I want to do. Merc? Bandits? Raider? Overlord? We'll see... (your feedback is welcomed!)
If you are this good kiting the enemy with foot archers, image what you could do as a Khuzait😂
Hey you are humble to mention strat, well you are also catching up to him in term of tactic.👍
Anyway you Aserai character is probably related to the Jawal mercenary😂😂
Working on that series right now, and you're right, it's about to get UGLY for the enemy. Here's a pretty good example of destruction with Horse archers:
th-cam.com/video/YWz6niOZBMg/w-d-xo.html
Seeing the early tactics would help alot of ppl til like clan tier 3 maybe 4 up until like before getting 100+ troops is the hardest for most
I think movement speed banners are huge. Like normally heavy infantry lags heavily behind archers, but in my recent playtrough I got a 30% move speed banner early from a khuzait tournament, and now my legionaries far outrun my fian champions and it kind of messes with me
Do an RBM, with the Troop upteir and large armies (high AI leadership?). Whenever you can get around to it.
I'm working on some RBM now, even though I'm on a break LOL. Thanks for the recommendation...
17:39 you will still lose like 3 fian champions and a khan guard against those 60 looters
lmao yeah... it's a thing.
@@Tyler-nh6oyyou can control the spread of the units by holding the right trigger and dragging the formation line side to side
Hopefully others help here as I don't know how it compares. I CAN say that much of the tactics should be the same, just a little less ability for you to do them in real time...
what would be your most tragic moment in the in-game universe of this bannerlord story (typically one thats in this channel)
Death of Zuvan in the Peasants revolt... and death of father in a battle quite some time ago...
@@HeadlessHorsemanProductions ok NOW i need to watch the peasant's revolt.
in like a few minutes
You should do RMB, just without the overhaul or posture system, just using the AI tactics. that way its somewhat smarter AI, without everyone being a tank
I may add RBM at times to the Aserai campaign but since probably 80% of the players are NOT using it(maybe 90%?) I don't want to use it exclusively. I DO like RBM and the AI is generally better but also predictable like all game AI.
Totally agreed, and i think thats a great idea. just would also be nice to occasionally spice things up ^.^
Honestly if it wasn’t for Better Pikes I would probably uninstall RBM.
I tried better pikes once. it worked awfully lmao. but im glad yer able to get some use out of it
@@ponder109 I haven't consistently used it but I plan on trying it and testing it more...
Also, not to totally glaze you, but your comprehension of Gen Z lingo is fuckin impressive man. If you didn’t state your age I would think you were like 25 based on how well you grasp modern internet slang.
I'm a teenager, and even I didn't understand half of what he said
LMAO... Well we have young friends and I work with younger guys but I definitely am an older fella. Still gamers be gamers. Cheers!
RBM adds some interesting AI tactics, but I find it makes a lot of the game just way less fun.
Basically exactly how I feel, I also notice battles kind of drag. OPTIMAL for tactics, maybe not optimal for streaming and shared episodes, though some folks certainly like it...
i had literally the best campaign start playing empire like i always do but i finally married me my bro and youngest bro but every child was female😂
why aserai playthrough tho?
I think he likes their javelins
Probably because pound for pound they are some really powerful troops. Before my one Aserai playthrough I used to call them Trasheri but once I commanded then I realized the problem is the AI, not the Aserai.
Mostly because I have played Sturgia, Battania and now Khuzait(in the side series), so looking forward to something very unique. (and I love javelins LOL)
Both you guys are right.
Mod the ai in whatever way you can. Being a Sgt in a battle controlled by ai makes me not want to play the game. It’s horrendous.
Cheers - and thanks for the feedback.
