    Another old truck fan here-I’ve owned three Scout IIs, Jeeps, Land Cruisers, love them all. Just purchased a 1974 IHC D100 4x4, 345 4-speed sight unseen (and will remain a surprise until spring). Keep it up, brother.

    I have a Ford Coleman with the same wheels . That's an interesting discovery but sorry , no extra parts here . And I agree . Split ring wheels aren't dangerous . 2 piece split rim wheels are dangerous . And very old . I am glad you are making this video because I need to rebuild my front diff and the rest of my truck .

    9:27 - I'll be fashioning my 53 R-120 to look like a Coleman conversion. I'll be needing to have my faux Coleman dome covers manufactured. To achieve the Coleman look, please tell me, how far outward does that Coleman dome extend? Thanks Eric! You're an inspiration!

    I work on those clamp rims and wheels all the time. I'll look around my yard for some spare Goodyear wedges laying around but I do not remember seeing any that shape or size.

    Sweet mix of luck and knowledge. Going to go through the piles of junk strewn throughout the acreage from the last owner. Every few years I'll find some bit of info and go through it all again with a new understanding of what's actually not just "scrap" rusted metal.

    those are 2 piece rims like on older commercial vehicles split rims actually split in the center of the drop center or center of the wheel which were outlawed 2 and 3 piece wheels have not been outlawed its he same set up on older heavy haul trucks easier and safer to work with than split rims that is the difference for everybody that wants to call all of those old wheels split rims .....btw i found your channel after Zane over at HPDG mentioned you

    Everything about this is awesome! Can't wait to see further work on it and hopefully one day In person. I will keep an eye out around me for wedges and rims.

    Silas at “adventures made from scratch” has at least 1 3/4 ton 50ish int’l way out back at “his place” that looked to be complete(all 4 wheels). He’s located in Hutchison Ks. Might give him a try.

    With everyone throwing out their "horrible widowmaker, super dangerous, no tire shop will touch them" big six lock ring wheels, they shouldn't be too hard to find lol

    Would the Intnl wheels fit the axle without the adapter? Looked to me that the hole pattern were very close.

    • @BareKnuckleBinder
      @BareKnuckleBinder  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, it’s an IH axle. A normal IH 6 lug wheel wheel would bolt right up. That’s my last resort for this, at least for the cross-country trip. However, if I can track down the clamps, I’ll run them all with open-center rims so that I can have one spare that fits all the wheels.

      Fourth try. I have wheel references and have answers to your questions. I’m not on social media so suggest you give guidance on how I share it. I’m on several truck forums, mainly Ford and Studebaker, but am also a member on Binder Planet so you might try them.

    9:34 - do you have a sense as to the original color of these Coleman wheel domes? I’d like to find a place to manufacture such domes for my 1953 R-120 in order to achieve the Coleman look to my R-120 (which has a 4X4 chassis now). Can you suggest a place that would manufacture domes for me?

    • @BareKnuckleBinder
      @BareKnuckleBinder  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I believe they were originally black, I’m not sure about a place to manufacture something like that. I’m trying to think of how you’d make a wheel cover that would duplicate the Coleman look and stick to the stock wheel. I’m about to do a video update on this truck in the coming weeks and I’ll show what I did with the rear wheels, looks close or at least good!
