Love your vids Tyler. This one was particularly useful as we plan for our month long Central Aussie trip. I make sure I check your past videos before heading off now as the commentary on terrain, ideas for checking out key spots, and suggestions for gear, packing and safety are great. My hubby likes to come along but I'm the one who does the planning and prep for my Hilux. Don't stop sharing your great ideas.
Tyler Iv always wondered want you did as a Monday to Friday gig 👍🏼👍🏼🇦🇺🇦🇺 I also admire the time you spend with your son.. Absolutely gold. I had a giggle when you said it does your head in when other people want to tag along. I’m the same. As much as I like the company of others I much enjoy traveling around at my own pace sole. A rough plain and if it works all good. If it doesn’t there is next time.. My trips away are photography based & if I’m with others I feel restricted or less creative.. I try to get over to tassie once every 18 months. (My dad lives on the east coast). Iv fallen in love with the west coast.. snow, ice, wind, massive waves, rain and the landscape in my eyes is spectacular.. All done solo. Some days I don’t see a sole for ages much like my South Australia trips.. An InReach GPS tracker is a must. I’m back in tassie for 16 days this September. Flying my partner into Hobart on the Thursday night for a few days on Bruny Island them sending her home the Sunday. I really enjoy your story telling style. Keep the adventure coming Ant 👍🏼👍🏼🇦🇺🇦🇺
Thanks for the feedback, glad you're enjoying the vids! Yep I definitely enjoy the trips away with just myself and Kai when we have all the freedom we want. Tassie is such an amazing place, I'm already keen to get back down there again
Good work Tyler. Not a fan of schedules on trips. I start with a general goal, like go south, catch salmon & a date to be home. Beyond that though, everything is fluid. No set destinations, camp sites or anything like that. Time is told by it's either light or dark & meal time is decided by when I'm hungry. Schedules take the fun & relaxation out of a trip.
The night sail is 110% the way to travel. The 4WD book you have doesn’t have all the 4x4 tracks in e.g Coldstream (there are more but can’t think off the top of my head). Enjoy 🤙
People always underestimate the work that goes into preparing and planning a trip long before the last minute squeeze everything into the car. Looks like you had a great trip, can't wait to see it.
really looking forward to the trip, we have had to cancel ours due to some unforeseen bills. Tassie 2021....lol.. If I am taking the swag we run one tie down length ways from the front to the rear and find it keeps it nice and tight at the front no matter the speed. Also put the handles on the bottom to stop them flopping around. Thanks for the info...
Yeah okay sweet thanks mate! Will have to give that a go, the reason I don't put the handles at the bottom is they often seem to end up slipping through the roof rack and then bang on the roof in the wind. Hopefully you can still get down to Tassie next year!
Great content as always. Up there with one of the best 4x4 channels going on youtube. I enjoy watching what an ifs can do as not everyone can afford the big landcruisers. Have you thought about adding some manual locking hubs, to negate the broken cv issue?
That's an impressive map of Tassie you got mate. :) Now you have Makita gear on board, check out their chainsaw that runs 2 x 18v batteries, they are an absolute game changer for track clearing and camp wood prep. Looks like the Nav done well on the trip. 👍
Hey Tyler, a more comprehensive First Aid Kit would be advisable. Attach to the rear of the drivers side headrest. A seat belt cutter within easy reach too
Mate the amount of times I’ve had too turn around, because the wife has forgot the hair straightener, or can’t remember if she switched it off, deadset hate those things haha.
Came back to do a thumbs up mate. Not sure how to do it from a smart tv. Great advice. I need to write up a checklist on this sort of thing I think. I see you use a swag. So you're happy with the crashpad product? Where to score these from mate?
Thanks mate! Yep Crashpad swags are good, only thing is I reckon the mattress could be a little more comfy so might need something extra if you're on hard ground. You can just grab them off the Crashpad website mate crashpadgear.com
Hey mate where abouts did u get the chrome box from with the cooking gear 👌🏽 looks neat simular to what im looking for mate Btw your rig looks bloody whicked 😃😃 i have the exact same rig st dualcab nav mines 2015 kitted out by arb
Nice vid Tyler. This is a question to everyone - do you pack the same things in the same location every time ? I find packing stressful even with the use of lists. Does packing get easier?
Thanks mate! Yep definitely gets easier mate, plus I keep a lot of the basic stuff in my 4wd already. The gear I take is fairly similar but few little things might change, mostly the same though
Hey Tyler Can you give your honest opinion on those new 250 watt solar panels you using are they worth the money? They seem $300.00 overpriced to me and warranty should be more 10 years for price they ask!
Hey mate. Im really happy with it, works well. Super light and thin and good how you can see everything through the app. One of the big benefits of them is you can get a heap of power out of them early in the morning and late of an afternoon. But I also haven't used any other Solar Blankets to compare it to, this is the first one I've had.
Great Stuff Tyler, got to hand it to you mate, what you have achieved trip wise in the last 2 years is amazing, and on top of that you have videoed, edited, worked, had your vehicle stolen and gone again..... You make me look bad... very bad :) Can't beleive its been 2 years since you were in my backyard. Good on you mate, keep charging

Thanks mate! Yep couldn't think of anything worse then schedules haha
Maybe move your plb to the center console as if you roll the car and are trapped you can still reach it. Thats what i was tought anyway.
Good point mate, will have to move it to there
The night sail is 110% the way to travel. The 4WD book you have doesn’t have all the 4x4 tracks in e.g Coldstream (there are more but can’t think off the top of my head). Enjoy 🤙
Thanks mate! Yep for sure, we did some other research too and found a few extra tracks and spots.
People always underestimate the work that goes into preparing and planning a trip long before the last minute squeeze everything into the car. Looks like you had a great trip, can't wait to see it.
Yep takes a bit of prep for the bigger trips, thanks mate!
I’m doing 3 week tour in November of Tassie with wife and my youngest. Looking forward to your vids.
Awesome mate, videos should give you a few places to do then
Thanks Tyler your Great Ocean Road, Otway video helped with our last trip. Goin Tassie soon, so can't wait for your next vid
Awesome, glad they help!

Thank you! Awesome place down there

Have you thought about adding some manual locking hubs, to negate the broken cv issue?
Thanks mate! Appreciate it. Yeah dad installed some on his MUX for that reason but not sure if you can get manual locking hubs for the D23 navara?
Fantastic really looking forward to the Tassie stuff, great prep vlog on it too. And the Coffs run awesome :)
Thanks mate!
Awesome man. Some great advice.
Thank you :)
I was a bit confused you had the back seats fold up and packed with stuff but then three of you went on the trip
Na back seats were down when I packed everything in the back mate
Hey Tyler, were you in Tassie the same time as the 4WD Action guys? What you have coming up looks awesome.
Hey mate, yep we were, we actually crossed paths with them one day haha. Did a lot of the same tracks as them so should be good!
@@TylerThompson90 did you not cross paths with them the last time you were there too?
Another useful clip mate, your prep is similar to mine. Cheers Steve
Cheers mate!
Nice one Tyler. Great lot of gear well set for your trip. 🇳🇿👍😎
Cheers mate :)
Good series thanks
Cheers
Great content mate, picked up some handy hints.
Cheers!
Really informative mate good job cheers

Hey mate, Yep I have been meaning to upgrade it so will have to do that ASAP :)
@@TylerThompson90 Survival First Aid has a boaties bundle which ticked all the boxes for me
Great info mate. Thank you !!
Thanks!
Cracking information mate the best was the hair straighteners love your truck 😂
Haha thanks mate!
Great vid mate. Lots of useful info 👍
Thanks!
Sunscreen in tassie sounds like an unnecessary item! I always carry a grinder too for those gated tracks 👍
Sun was actually insane down there, with about 15 hours of sunlight a day in Summer we were getting scorched
Mate the amount of times I’ve had too turn around, because the wife has forgot the hair straightener, or can’t remember if she switched it off, deadset hate those things haha.
hahaha!
Great video, thanks!
Cheers!
Zippie ties makes them sound adorable hahaha
Haha!
Great tips, keeping it real ..sounds like your mechanical knowledge is still better than mine :)
Thanks mate!

@ 5.15..That's exactly why I travel Solo... Wing it !
Yep!
Looks like you've got bags for most of the essential stuff, but where's the Crashpad for the hair straightener?😊
Haha need to get them to make one for me!
Hey mate where abouts did u get the chrome box from with the cooking gear 👌🏽 looks neat simular to what im looking for mate
Btw your rig looks bloody whicked 😃😃 i have the exact same rig st dualcab nav mines 2015 kitted out by arb
Hey mate, thank you! Yep its an 'Alu-box', Drifta sell them
Kayla your curly hair is beautiful 😍
Hey Tyler, what’s the brand of the blue boxes? Thank you
Hello, no idea sorry. They don't have brand name on them and dad bought them about 30 years ago and can't remember
Hey mate, what fuel economy are you averaging with the nitto’s ?
Hey mate, I'm not too sure but the fuel consumption monitor on the dash normally sits around 12L per hundred for a mix of driving
I didn't see any camp chairs and gazebo for shade
Camp chairs were already in, forgot to mention them and for shade I just use the awning

Three maps of Tassie aboard 😆
Is that with or without vegetation...👍...
Get yourself the Makita cordless little workshop blower for getting your fire started. Thank me later!
I have seen people do that! More stuff to fit in the 4wd though haha
Pls get some proper spot lights would look so much better
I like the ones I got mate
Excellent vid, Now I know I'm not the only one who farts about during a pack up. All fun though.
Cheers mate
Throw that swag in the back when yr on blacktop . Save some coin.
